  1. Lewis is a nickel corner and a special teams player. They gave him a 2 year deal to continue his role as Taron Johnson's backup. Hamlin is a safety. And not sure if you heard but he died on the field less than a year prior to most of the 2023 season, which is why he was inactive for most of the season. I expect him to be back to his old self in 2024.
  2. Lewis isn't even a safety and people mention him before Hamlin. Sad.
  3. With Taron's contract extension, here are the seven Bills players signed on through at least the 2027 season (with annual salaries)... QB Josh Allen - $43.01 WR Stefon Diggs - $24.00 OT Dion Dawkins - $20.17 DE Von Miller - $20.00 DT Ed Oliver - $17.00 DB Taron Johnson - $9.75 K Tyler Bass - $4.28
  4. Did it for his controlling wife. I don't blame him.
  5. Yes, yes - if Allen had better mental power, he would have forced Diggs to catch this touchdown pass like a Jedi.
  6. Did Kyle Schurmur leave? Or are they keeping two OQC's? I NEED TO KNOW
  7. I really think McDermott acknowledges that this has been an issue and promoting a young coach in Babich to DC and replacing the entire defensive coaching staff (along with some roster turnover) will hopefully spark something that has been missing on defense these last four seasons.
  8. Mahomes' reaction to the loss to the Bills this season is proof that you are incorrect.
  9. The 2023 Chiefs were better than the 2023 Bills by a tiny bit. If they played 10 games, they probably split 5-5.
  10. To get to the Chiefs level? Bills won at KC in the regular season and then lost by 3 points thanks to a missed field goal in the playoffs. I know the perception is that the Chiefs are miles ahead of the Bills because they just won the Super Bowl. But the reality is that there's a tiny difference between the two teams this season. If they played 10 times, they probably split 5-5.
  11. I'm intrigued to see Jim Harbaugh in the AFC West with an elite quarterback talent to mold. Mahomes thinks this whole winning Super Bowls thing is very easy and he'll just keep winning them. *raspy Kermit the Frog voice* "We're not done!" But it's not going to be nearly as easy moving forward. The division will now be more difficult for them to win. I see Jones leaving. At some point soon Kelce and Reid will be retiring. They solidified their dynasty last night. Congrats to them, they earned it. Happy for lifelong Chiefs fans and the humble city of KC. But they weren't a dominant team this season. There was a tiny difference between the Chiefs and Bills this year. On to the 2024 season...
  12. I watch every Super Bowl. I appreciate the history of the game. IMO that adds value to being a Bills fan and makes it matter more and will feel that much better when we finally do win it all.
  13. I don't mind Mahomes getting the accolades because he's the only one who is legitimately as good or better than our QB. Same goes for Rodgers based on his career achievements. The rest are pretenders. Either products of great team performances around them and/or products of pre-determined mainstream-media-narrative-driven awards. But perception is reality and until the Bills can get over the hump and win a Super Bowl, history will consider Allen below many of the quarterbacks playing currently.
  14. Yep can't wait to hear the new lazy media narrative all year how Brock Purdy is now the best quarterback in the NFL.
  15. Can someone smart explain to me why the 49ers are favored? I feel like pouring money into the Chiefs but my overconfidence makes me very hesitant and there must be something I'm missing.
  16. Usually when someone is qualified, they are interviewed for the position by at least one team. As far as I know Butler has never interviewed for a NFL DC position. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  17. He obviously knows that there's no way he's playing anywhere other than Buffalo in 2024. He just loves when people are talking about him. That's the only explanation.
  18. Butler was hired by his childhood friend McDermott in 2018 after he was fired as a position coach from the only NFL job he's ever had. His friend McDermott gave him a nice promotion two years ago to 'passing game defensive coordinator' but (unlike Babich) he's never been interviewed for a true DC job. There's no real indication that he's qualified for such a position on a Super Bowl contending NFL franchise. Maybe he's a good coach, or maybe he just was lucky to join this franchise when he did. Either way, if he wants to move up the ladder he should spend less time whining on social media and more time finding either a DC job at the collegiate level or moving on and proving himself as an elite DB coach under a new head coach at one of the other 32 NFL teams.
  19. McDermott and Butler basically grew up together in Philadelphia. I'm sure McD offered Butler a position on Babich's staff but Butler then felt like it was a demotion that he didn't deserve considering how well the secondary performed during his time here. Probably some real emotions there considering the background/context.
  20. lol, no, Joe is not mistaken. The two LB positions in McDermott's scheme are pretty interchangeable, especially considering all of these players have been learning both of the positions since the summer. These are professionals, it's what they do. If Klein went down with an injury, they were not going to stop the game and cancel. It was a mistake to play Klein. We know this now. That's what history will tell us about the Bills' 2023 postseason. You can stop fighting it now.
  21. The analytics nerds hated Josh Allen coming out of college. And groupthink is contagious. These analytics nerds failed to take into account that Allen was playing in the worst system/program for a quarterback in the country (because Wyoming was his only offer), surrounded by limited talent (especially his final season), and he was 110% gunslinger who didn't give a crap about completion percentage or TD:INT ratios. Not a good mix if you want to show the stats that the analytical nerds consider high probability of success in the NFL. (And normally coaches who have old-school, archaic systems will coach the gunslinger out of their quarterbacks and tell them to protect the ball at all times. But Wyoming's coaches let Allen do whatever the hell he wanted. I think they thought it was funny.) But old school scouts drooled over Allen's physical tools. Big, strong, rocket for an arm. Allen became the posterboy for Old School Scouting vs. 'Moneyball' Analytical Concepts of Scouting. If you were smart, you knew Allen wouldn't pan out. If you were an old meathead, you were fooled by his size and strong arm. Fast-forward seven years later, and it's crazy how the analytical nerds now LOVE Josh Allen, whereas the old-school dudes who have permanent brainworms over how they value the importance of turnovers do not love him.
  22. Must-Have 1. Daquan Jones Nice-To-Have 1. AJ Epenesa 2. Dane Jackson/Cam Lewis (depth) 3. Ty Johnson/Latavius Murray/Damien Harris That's it. That's the list. (Assuming Micah Hyde has decided to retire) Why would Epenesa get "big bucks"?
