Buddy Nix Steps Down as GM
Best Player Available replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Assuming Nix is being truthful that Brandon goes to meetings with the people on the football side of the business, leads me to believe that Brandon as the new CEO is micro managing. Never a good thing for a CEO. Delegate the responsibility to qualifed people you TRUST.Then, have them report their results, keep you up to date and do your own job. Which in Brandons case goes well beyond the football personnel decisions. Brandon is not a football man and lately reminds me more of a Jerry Jones. How is that working out for the cowgirls? This team needs new ownership. Until then though, reportedly the Bills are hoping to become somewhat of a Steelers clone. That is something the may have been better kept in house, and not said in public. Chalk it up to a new young inexperienced GM perhaps using a poor choice of words. A NFL team does not need to publicly pay homage to another of the 32 teams in the league and hope to imitate them. -
I think both of them on the field is a possible strength of the offense, considering there could be a rookie at QB.

Need a translation on "fumble-prone shade of his past self"Truth is Fred had 5 fumbles in 9+ games. Four lost. Is that good? No. Are there bigger problems at other positions on the team? Yes. At least he didn't blame it on God.

RIP Dick Trickle
Best Player Available replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Hmmm, one has to wonder if Dick Dribble (Private eye) was inspired by Dick Trickle? -
I have never since the Ralph opened ever felt threatened by anyone. Of course like most there are always a good showing of drunk A-Holes, like any major league stadium. Now, the Raiders is a completely different story. As for the drinking, the Colliseum puts Bills fans to shame for violence, drugs, and drunks. Hard to tell if arrest numbers mean anything about how any NFL stadium deals with those problems. Even the chit stick candlestick park with the wine toting yuppies can put on some pretty heavy duty drunk fueled activities from time to time. When the Giants Dodgers games were played years ago. it was probably one of the scariest ball parks in California.

Whaley named Bills GM
Best Player Available replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no skin in this argument. But, I have seen (during the 90's) exactly what you say doesn't happen. And, it happens with way more regularity than you might suspect. Especially if the corporation has a very competitive business and is multi national. The corporation I refer to is a dow 30 component. They are pioneers in the backlit lcd screen business. Friendly or even hostile corporate takeovers do it regularly for a variety of reasons. Most of which are common sense PR. It occurs even more often in the entertainment bizz,( music, film music, and Motion pictures for sure) which NFL football in someway falls into that category. I don't know if it's fair to say one is naive on this. Just sayin. -
One of the most interesting and important picks of the Bills draft. Man, I hope this kid pans- out.

Does this mean Brandon will allow him to use E-Mail again? Does he get Nix's cell phone too? -

I never said Marrone isn't highly regarded. Whaley who also has never been a GM is supposedly highly regarded. At this point what is an opinion worth? Especially at the beginning of yet another Bills FO honeymoon period. But I'm interested in how Schefter's opinion on crowning "the hottest head coaching prospect" carries any weight at all? Credentials aside, Being a Journalism guru and all means what? How about the journalists/Ex GM's. etc. that laughed and some still are at the Bills pick at 16. Are they right or wrong? Or do people tailor their unbridled optimism of the Bills on popular fan opinions? Where did Schefter play football or coach? And what exactly makes his educated opinion fact? I say He's wrong Chip Kelly was the hottest prospect for obvious reasons. -

Well, if Adam friggin bobblehead Schefter said it on twitter, and ESPN/ It's got to be true. My bad. -
Polian on ESPN draft night round 1. "EJ manuel is not a QB I would have chose". Coming back to the Bills with EJ Manuel? Ludicrous.

Probably not a stretch to say that some fans on this board have never seen a winning Bills team. Or maybe one year?Hope springs eternal. You would think Vince Lombardi drafted EJ. I hope the kid succeeds along with a new coach (with the college record of 25-25 in a weak conference.) As for Whaley, just like Nix was he will become a first time GM. There's a lot of IF's in this new regime. With very few proven FO personnel. Hard to fathom just what Nix could teach any of them? Nix as a GM ranks as one of the leagues worst. Cornell Green anyone? The Merriman hire should cement his place as a poor judge of talent past it's prime. And, it reeked of cronyism just like some coaching hires his HC made. One year ago on this board people were praising the coming of the Stache. How awesome his cowboy's D's were, on and on. How did that turn out? Now it's Doug Marrone as someone wrote "was the hottest coaching prospect" out there this year. Really? He can't hold C. Kelly's jock in turning a college program around nor his won/loss record. I have tempered hope that maybe some moves were made correctly. Marrone doesn't feel like a Nix hire. I'd be thrilled with a 8-8 record, and a D that actually becomes responsible for some of those W's. Enough of the unbridled optimism, the proof is in the W's. And they have been far and few between during the Nix "dynasty". -

Thanks, it's sometimes difficult to grasp the complexities of the game, that only future GM's seem to know. -

He's no tool. But he he is a marketing man first and foremost. He is not a football mind. The team is a direct reflection of that.Playing only seven home games in a league where every little bit helps is just a single example of Russ Brandon. The buck has always taken precedence over winning championships (obviously dating back pre Brandon) for the Bills, and will continue until new ownership. Also, a big shout out to Overdorf and Litman here too. The road is littered with good ex-Bills because of them. Brandon is Ralph's perfect replacement. Unfortunately, Buddy was/is just a pawn, and lucked into a GM gig at 70 because no experienced GM remotely competent will work for the organization. Keeping him past today is very hard to justify, but it's Ralph's money...... Really what did Buddy build other than 2013 hope? Good luck Buddy! You're a football man through and through and did your best. But being a GM in the NFL was just over your head. Thanks for the effort! Here's to hoping 2013 and beyond will finally produce W's in the regular season.Once again it appears the bills are the pre-2013 season paper champs yet again. -
I saw that 1989 show in Oakland Ca. I had field seats close up. I remember thinking how good Paul was on a Les Paul, his bass playing was always top notch but that dude can rock with a six string if he wants too. Ebony & Ivory was painful. Maybe it was just a favor to Stevie Wonder who co wrote it (I think). For all McCartney fans everyone should and probably does know he is a accomplished artist and his paintings are worth checking out, even his coffee table book of paintings is cool. an extremely talented man who by coincidence happened to meet three like souls early on in life.

Mr Nix is 16-32 as GM. he's on his 2nd head coach, I've lost count of DC's, his previous drafts have been mediocre. He is deep into gutting the team he built in year 4. To this day many of the better players/starters are DJ leftovers. He's got a long way to go before he's a candidate "to go out on top." -

Offseason? Talk about a play on words. No worry's the dude has a plan. He and J. Russell will be tearing up the league and become the dynamic duo in 2015. -
Easley now looks great? Wow, this is the first thing I have read about it. Based on what? A non contact mini camp in 2013?
