  1. It's actually more a suspension bridge. If you notice from the pictures, the members slant at different angles, putting uneven strain on each girder. While it can work as a truss, it's not how you would design that system to work. It would require each member be of different size and strength, which they clearly weren't. The construction company built and placed the span before the cable support system that is supposed to take up the load.
  2. A Wrinkle in time was getting so much hype, I was thinking that it was going to be another Black Panther extravaganza. The first reviews on RT give it a 32% audience score, with many calling it a kid's movie. Even the critics are hitting the low 40%, despite the automatic score bump for having a diverse cast and starring Oprah.
  3. Anyone notice he pats the ball before throwing it? Bledsoe had that same problem and Parcells couldn't break him of that habit.
  4. The question is whether 2 deaths per 100k (about the same chance of dying from dengue/hanta virus) is a price you're willing to pay for the right to protect your family. Americans who carry guns everywhere is comparable to the Japanese wearing breathing masks over their face.
  5. No, it's not. One has nothing to do with the other. It's how they teach you CPR. You check if the person is responsive first. Then you go through his vitals; breathing is one of them. There are a lot of situations where a person is awake, but can't breathe; have constricted or shallow breaths. Or just getting the air knocked out of them. Asking someone if they're breathing is a good question because even a bystander will respond with something descriptive if something is wrong: they will mention wheezing, coughing, or choking sounds. it's also a common question after an impact; especially in sports; if the person can breathe properly.
  6. It is possible to be awake, and not breathing. It's called choking. Form over Function... Perfectly describes Apple products.
  7. Considering the title of this thread, if someone were to search for this now, they still wouldn't be able to find it. Also, I'm the only person to write the words Jeopardy and Football Category, in this thread... maybe the search function will have a better shot now. FYI, it's been posted multiple times.
  8. Gen Y are generally called "Millennials", while Gen Z are "Zombies." Why is Gen X the only group keeping their placeholder letter?
  9. Before 1975 is considered Gen X. You can't choose. You're stuck in the same group as the cast of Friends. Between 1985 and 1995 is gen Y. After 2005 is gen Z. It's only within that 10yr transitional period where you're allowed to choose in which group you identify with most. ON a related note; using fixed time periods is just dumb. There is actually a research group that is trying to pin generations by group characteristics instead.
  10. From what I have figured out from google... People born between 1975 and 1985 can self-identify as either Gen X or Y. People born between 1995 and 2005 can self-identify as either Gen Y or Z
  11. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. ban people! Support Planned Parenthood!
  12. Studies are coming out that generation Z is much more conservative than anticipated in response to backlash towards Gen Y Snowflakes.
  13. Are they getting paid to go to the gym? I know a few companies that have their employees do exercises and have stretching breaks during the work day.
  14. NO one has mentioned the problem with School building designs. They are built open, like.... a campus. We need to follow the lead of many 3rd world/Asian countries. They should look like prisons.
  15. The simple argument: Gun-owner: Protect your family, buy a gun Activist: Protect your family, change the behavior of 7 billion humans.
  16. Okoye, the second most on-screen character in Black Panther, is Bi-sexual.
  17. It's a more serious movie, but the focus is on introducing A LOT of new characters and show-casing Wakanda. There were a few funny scenes and dialogue but sometimes those felt out of place. These characters aren't the type to deliver one-liners, with the exception of the sister, which was the most likable character. Also, the use of shaky-cam for many of the action scenes ruined them for me, even though the director stuck some great shots in there So basically you get a blur of movement, a hero-shot, then more blur. This was my biggest problem with the movie. The closest comparison would be Civil War, but with characters we've never seen before playing major roles. (plus the shaky-cam).
  18. Saw Black Panther. It was okay; nothing special. It's was more political than funny. Maybe it tried to be more relevant than it should have been; not the super-hero escape I expected/wanted. I will say that the Villian was the most interesting character in the movie, a rarity for Marvel. With the hype, it should have been more epic.
  19. I always assumed "Red Dawn" was set in an alternate universe because the kids couldn't find any guns to use against the Koreans.
  20. Godwin's law is an Internet adage that asserts that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hitler approaches 1"
  21. They've been force fed this notion from liberals that "a day without illegal aliens" would devastate the US Economy. So they threaten to leave.
  22. They taste like mini BLT's Cut the top off the cherry tomatoes and remove the seeds and core Crispify the bacon and mince Mix bacon, mayo, and green onions in a bowl Pipe the mixture into the tomatoes and serve cold. Warning, these go fast so make a lot!
  23. Chicharones (fried pork belly) Potato Salad bacon and mayo stuffed cherry tomatoes lil smokies w/ cheddar stuffed mushrooms egg rolls asian rice noodles Ribeyes (after the game) Assorted chips and dips 4 of us.
  24. You're right. Just because I'm going through the drive-thru, does not give anyone the right to ask me If I want fries with that. Also, where are the instructions for the straws? Everyone should be taught how to use them properly, or eyes could get poked.
