All I can suggest is to try watching it again if you can stomache it. Trent had plenty of time to throw for the majority of the game. If you see a play with a 3 step drop, the ball needs to come out on rhythm, and it didn't in many cases. I love TE as our QB. He just showed to be human afterall for the 1st time this year.

Thanks for the reply RR ... I guess what I was getting at was a- there was more running room (ie. holes) during that game than I had seen in any of the previous games this year. b- Focussing on the line as a whole unit (which is generally how I evaluate when I watch because none of us can know specific assignment for sure) I thought Trent had plenty of time to pass for most of the game. The problems crept up when Whittle went out and Fowler had to come in and play hurt while Duke moved over to RG. If you look at the safety again, try watching Fowler. OUCH! Trent held the ball too long on some of Miami's blitx plays IMO. c- I did mean more man or atleast Bump Zone coverage but I understand what you're getting at with the pass rush. I think we need to send more guys when we do decide to bring 'em

Philly, you saw the game the same way I did. It really came down to those 3 main reasons you mentioned. Mcgee , Trent , and the O-line subs at the end.

Last weeks game was a Big game. The game in JAX was a big game. Etc, etc.

I'm not sure if I watched the same game today. The pass protection was horrible???? I don't think so. Trent had plenty of time to throw on almost all dropbacks. He was out of sorts today. He held the ball way too long , like our other QB usually does. When they blitz, he needs to know to get rid of that ball. I see a lot of posters talking about the blocking today as the main problem and I just think thats crazy. Even the run blocking was the best it has been this year. Of course the Bills weren't patient enough to use it consistently. I thought the game was lost by Trent, some poor coaching (get Mcgee the heck out of there when hes still hurt obviously), and lack of manning up by our coverage guys.

Does Trent Edwards audible out of plays?

Thats reasonable and I can understand your outlook on it. I just felt like once that D formation was presented to them, you run , run , run until they stop you or until you get them out of that unbalanced defense. Once you do that, then you can freely pass or run and they are forced to respect both. Good discussion. -

You don't feel they could have controlled the clock a little more with Thurman carrying the ball at 7 yards a clip vs. a customized 2-5 front 7 formation the Giants played all night? Thurman getting only 15 carries in the game was a joke that the coaches were responsible for IMO. I think Marv was a very good coach, just not that night. -

I agree with that in #1 (big time) and #4 (can't let one fumble bring down your entire team) but in #2 and #3 we were the vastly inferior team. (I agree with Hazed) -

Was it Bills 50% career completion percentage, his Career 70 rating or the fact that he threw more INT's than Td's the deciding factor? His teams did win a lot of games though..... -

Thats what I thought you were going to say... So as someone else stated earlier, Mark Rypien was a better QB than Kelly (by your logic). Might as well throw Dilfer and Doug Williams in there too for good measure. The more we learn the more we find that Football is the ultimate team game. -

How is that a reply to the point? So it is your belief that a guy who is capable of winning conference championships is not also capable of winning one additional playoff game? -

Riiiiigght... He was capable of winning championship games 51-3 or on the road against a strong division foe, but wasn't capable of winning a superbowl. What superior logic. Because on the field, Superbowls are sooooo much different than other playoff games Right? -
Pass pro was good from whta little I saw. In the running game he didn't so much get pushed back, buit didn't make a lot of progress either. As he showed in the pre-season, I feel he has improved. Give the guy a shot because we know what we have in Fowler, and I think fowler is decent but obviously lacks in the running game unless he is pulling.

So now it should be discussed just how predictably horrible Preston played today against one of the best NT's in football right??
-
You may be right (maybe even likely are) but that would really suck if players just remained exactly what they were year in and year out. Guys like Moulds and Youboty for example never would have been given a chance. You never know , he may have improved.
-
FWIW, Preston did look much better this year in camp and pre-season. Guys do develop sometimes. He has been below average in his playing time in the past but things may have changed. It could be worth a shot. He showed a bit of a mean streak this pre-season, which I hadn't seen out of him previously.

The question of our "Big Three", very interesting...
34-78-83 replied to TE2LEEn08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1-There's no way in Hell Lee is a better route runner than Andre was (where did that come from???) but I do think Lee is a very good route runner. Andre may have been of of the best route runners ever. 2- I think they form a formidable enough group to be considered a "Big 3" as much as a team needs a big3. 3- Re: Evans, I think we'd really have to know the full details of what is going on as far as the scheme... Is he running short crossing routes and not getting open or has he been running longer routes only. It's not like he's dropping balls on short passes out there. It seemed to me in the 1st game that he was involved in a creative mixture of routes, both short and long, but since then has been sent down the field more often. He Excels in every other area I can think of. 4- Don't worry about the strange over-reaction and stat propping in this thread. Most of us can tell that you weren't dissing Lee by calling him a "1a" . Many of us also judge players by watching their play on the field and I am in full agreement that it holds more weight than stats. -
