  1. Perhaps not Buffalo proper, but living in Olean certainly qualifies as being part of the WNY community. As I’ve said, he was a longtime Sabres fan and season ticket holder long before he became a billionaire. https://www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/columnists/remember-when-pegula-was-a-local-hockey-coach/article_b369f874-d847-11e5-b387-67e32cba2312.html
  2. Sorry I don’t have the receipts for his season tickets to offer as proof. However, there were several articles at the time of his purchases that referenced his season tickets ownership. As for the rest of it, I have no particular affection for the guy, either.
  3. That stands to reason but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have an affection for Buffalo, the Bills, Sabres, and WNY before buying either team. He just doesn’t fit the profile of someone who doesn’t care about this community.
  4. I don’t know if that’s true about Pegula. He was a die hard Bills and Sabres fan long before his success in the oil business and he had season tickets when he lived in Olean.
  5. Yep. What he’s put on “tape” over the course of his career along with his medicals are the only thing that matters at this point. The scouting is long over for MHJ. The only thing that might be a concern for a team is how he does in his meetings and the football acumen he demonstrates at those meetings. But he’d have to be a complete jerk and idiot for any team to think twice about taking him.
  6. And we can bet that the Bills and Legends are acutely aware of this statistic as well as the fact that those are three high demand pro football markets, too. It will be very telling when we see how the demand for the clubs and other premium seating shakes out.
  7. But Cam’s career decline IS pinpointed to one singular injury, though. It’s not a matter of opinion. There’s a fine line between putting Allen in harm’s way and utilizing his unique athletic ability on designed running plays. He’s a weapon that defenses have to respect. But Allen’s scrambles and runs are outside of the design anyway, and he needs to be smarter about protecting his own self when out there. And while drafting a blue chip receiving prospect would be fine, that won’t do much to curb Allen’s propensity for taking risks when he scrambles and take off. He is what he is.
  8. Could have sworn it was while in the pocket on a pass attempt, but I stand corrected. The larger point of my post was that Cam’s career wasn’t shortened because he was “run into the ground”, which is a common misconception.
  9. I don’t know if Beane has learned any lessons or not, but he was not the GM in Carolina nor did he run Cam Newton into the ground. How players are used and what they do in games is on the coaches and players themselves. And for the hundredth time, Newton’s career wasn’t cut short because he ran the ball too much. It was cut short by a shoulder injury sustained in the pocket while attempting a pass.
  10. Always nice to see someone plant Joe Burrow.
  11. It’s interesting how so many want to discount the years of intense market research that went into all of this. The Bills know their customer base inside out and it’s no coincidence that the “experience” is located in Williamsville.
  12. He certainly has a seat at the table.
  13. Got your Peter right here, ExWNYer:
  14. All due respect because he was a good LB earlier in his career, but a traffic cone is better than AJ Klein at this point.
  15. Seeing him in their jersey will be a helluva lot easier to take than seeing Thurman in one back in the day.
  16. But the heated seat technology is already part of the budgeted stadium design costs. Are you saying the Bills might try to have the project come in under the $1.4b budget by altering the already accepted design for heated seats or other already budgeted amenity infrastructure? If so, is it a given that the team would realize that savings or would it go to the state or county? You raise a very interesting point and I’d be interested in looking deeper into it. Are you going to have the opportunity to go to the experience in Williamsville? If so, please ask these questions because they’re worth asking.
  17. Your history of the Braves and their attendance is revisionist. For example in 1973-1974 they were 4th in the league in attendance. Braves fans supported that team from their inception until carpetbagger John Y Brown sold them off in parts and gutted the team to purposely drive down attendance to be able to break his lease. Damn right we stopped supporting them after that bullcrap.
  18. Depending on the amenity, I have to believe that some of the infrastructure to support that amenity is already included in the original $1.4b cost, like the heated seats for example. What other amenities might fall under that criteria?
  19. The Bills are contractually obligated to pay all cost overruns.
  20. Whether or not Von Miller played at all was entirely up to the medical staff that cleared him to play and, more importantly, to the coaches who decide who plays and when. Just as it’s always been.
  21. Keeping him active and in games is not on Von Miller, it’s on his coaches and medical staff who determined he was a better option than another player and inserted him in the lineup.
  22. There were too many chefs since Daboll departed and I’m glad one of them is now gone.
