  1. I prefer an attacking style of play, don't get me wrong. I also prefer skaters who can be hard on the puck; the two aren't mutually exclusive. We aren't physical in a physical game that demands that. And Housley said we have to execute BEFORE being physical which makes no fricken sense to me at all. There are several highly skilled, fast moving, attacking teams that also play a more physical style. We don't need to return to the neutral zone trap, left wing lock, would rather watch paint try hockey, but we do need to meet the physical challenge of the game and we can't. For whatever reason. My point was that if Housley is unable to adapt to his personnel and insist on playing his preferred style, we need better goalies. He shows absolutely no ability to adapt at all. For some, including me, that's one of the first signs of a good coach.
  2. AB is going to find out the difference between having a Hall of Fame QB that keeps plays alive forever and allowing his receivers to come open as a result vs. the overrated Derek Carr. It’s a night and day difference. Not at all. His market value was limited.
  3. I understand your larger point and agree, but my post was a comment specifically about Hutton’s shootout performance against the Blackhawks. That said, while we have problems throughout, our poor goalie play may indeed be the biggest issue. And that’s saying something considering how big our problems are among the forwards and defensemen. While goals against is a team stat, save percentage isn’t. And both Hutton and Ullmark have fallen off a cliff since the streak. Their 5x5 save percentage is among the worst over the last three months. Housley’s system demands stellar goalie play as it generates more odd man rushes against. Contrast that to Trotz and the Islanders who play a stay at home, tight checking style instead. Housley lacks the chops to adapt to his current personnel, which is why we have been at or near the bottom since he took over. Certainly seems that way, anyway.
  4. Not encouraged by the post game remarks. It’s clear that the players and Housley are not on the same page. Players say we need to be more physical, Housely says gotta execute before you can be physical. WTF does that even mean. I am officially concerned that Skinner will look to sign elsewhere of this keeps up.
  5. Housley with the patented move to have Sobotka take a key O zone faceoff in the left circle (‘cause, you know, that’s his specialty and all) with our goalie pulled in favor of the extra attacker; worked like a charm. The answer is to just be patient as JBotts fills the roster with All Stars over the next 8 years and Housley can finally show he’s a good coach.
  6. Quitting on your team during a playoff chase for all the world to see has a way of lowering your value around the league.
  7. I think I figured out Housely’s strategy. It involves having the opponent skate circles around us the entire game until such time as they wear themselves out and we get a chance.
  8. Time for old time hockey. Bogo needs to decapitate MacKinnon at the first opportunity.
  9. Great point about all us sour pusses agonizing over the Sabres. Agree entirely. But I am grateful to have been watching and rooting for UB for a few years now and they’ve helped ease the discontent with our pro teams. I’m down in DC for a couple months, otherwise I’d be happy to get to Cleveland for the tourney. My son and I will be glued to the set, though. Hard to believe the MAC tourney isn’t doing better ticket sale wise. It’s a good conference. Anyway, enjoy to heck out of it. And go Bulls!
  10. Character win. They were tested and looked to be on the ropes after BG got to within one midway through the 2nd half, after being 19 down at one point in the game. Credit to Harris who was having a rough night, was taken out for a few minutes by Oats (smart move), and then returned to help re-ignite their offense to pull away after BG got close. He made several nice plays at both ends of the floor during that key stretch. This team plays so much better when they look for Perkins inside. He’s a force down low and has a good outside game to augment that. He’s a key for them. Looking forward to the tourney next week.
  11. “And willing to trade down for the right deal.”
  12. If the Bills have zero clue on offense, then they have less than zero in talent on that side of the ball for us to fairly evaluate that idea. I’ll say this though, after the bye and especially after Allen returned to the lineup, we saw Daboll running different schemes than we saw previously. Tells me he has at least a little bit of a clue.
  13. It did, but not in a positive way. I’m concerned they made a serious offer for a quitter like AB. Maybe they were convinced a change of scenery was all he needed; that his discipline when it came to his work ethic was enough to convince them he has the commensurate football character and that he’d me even more motivated with a new deal and team. That makes sense. But Brown broke the code by quitting, an unforgivable sin imo, and they still went after him.
  14. Needed some time to heal? Everybody in the league "needs some time to heal" late in the season. What a crock of crap. It was his, and HIS ALONE, decision to QUIT. I don't care how much of an A Hole his coach is. I don't care how much of a douche Big Ben is. Antonio Brown decided to QUIT on his teammates, coaches, and fans during a playoff chase. Period. I'll say this though, his body needing time to heal is the best is the most original excuse I've heard.
  15. Wrong to go after a quitter. I don't care how good he is. I said that a while ago, too. And I really don't give a flying F why AB wouldn't want to come to Buffalo. Glad you understand him, though. He needs that. More understanding. Poor AB, he's just so misunderstood.
