Meaningful games in February? What a sad commentary it is that we have sucked so bad for so long that it’s considered a high mark not to be out of playoff contention with 30 games still left to play for a change. Here’s a thought for those players so thrilled to be playing meaningful games in February: the games from October through January are every bit as meaningful. Treat those games just as crucial to success and you’re gonna be assured of playing meaningful games in April and beyond. But hey, it’s February and we’re not out of it yet. WHIPPEE!

Why would Housley remove Reinhart from Smith and Erod after having one of his best games as a Sabre? Makes no sense. None. Thompson sitting instead of SOBotka? Why? Faceoffs in left circle dot? He has Larsson back for that if needed. Tired of having a coach learning on the job as opposed to someone who knows what’s up in this league. Last thing our developing players need as well.

Adam Schefter: Julian Edelman Is a Hall Of Fame candidate
K-9 replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As erudite as you are, your opinion of Namath is surprising. I could go on about why he is in the HOF, but I’ll just sum it up in ome sentence: Joe Namath is in the HOF because voters of that era understood the difference between being a passer and being a quarterback especially in an era where QBs called their own plays. -
Agreed. A win is a win and it was much needed. But I must put a little cloud in your silver lining and that is that again, as has been the case for most of the season and nearly all of the post streak schedule, they were outplayed for most of the game and again demonstrated a totally unsustainable formula for success. We won but showed no improvement in doing so.

I take it all back - Jarod Goff is a California wimp!

Who can forget the biggest CA quarterback wimp of all: -
I gotta wonder what JBotts thinks at this moment, assuming he heard what Housley said about starting Hutton over Ullmark. I mean it was so blatantly stupid it has to be concerning, no? I get that GMs don’t want to interfere with a coach’s decision on who plays and who doesn’t, but this is so egregious I have to wonder when he takes Housley aside to discuss it.

Super Bowl Ratings Hit 10-Year Low
K-9 replied to RalphWilson'sNewWar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the 80s and 90s, long before they moved to St.Louis, the Rams used to regularly place third in the local ratings in the Sunday afternoon time slot. They would literally trail the Sunday matinee movie and reruns of ‘Gilligan’s Island.” This was anathema to the local affiliates and advertisers. A team in LA doesn’t move the TV ratings needle at all. But that market is a goldmine for ownership with all the local corporate and other dollars available for suite sales and sponsorships. -
More proof Housley is out of his depth and needs to go: The reason he gave for starting Hutton instead of Ullmark vs. Chicago was based on winning and losing. Hutton beat Columbus and Ullmark lost to Dallas, so Hutton got the start on Friday. Someone needs to explain to coach clueless that Ullmark played MUCH better in his loss than Hutton did in his win. If Housley’s power of observation is that messed up when watching his goalies, I have to question what else he is missing. Sure explains some of his personnel decisions, though. We have no chance with him at the helm.

Like what he did on the back end. Can’t say the same about the forward groups. Saddling Eichel with two skillless players like Sheary and Okposo has me wondering what Eichel did to piss of Housley. I hope Pommers can keep up. I’m intrigued by Erod centering Smith and Reino. Sobotka is where he belongs, but Thompson isn’t served by playing on that line as a shut down winger. Housley should flip him with either Okposo or Pommers, imo. Of course, now that I’ve opined on his crappy line combos, I fully expect a nine goal outburst tomorrow night, with both Okposo and Pommers recording hatties in the process.

Yeah, the moment seemed too big for him at times. He was trying to aim the ball vs. setting up and letting his mechanics do the work. There will be no shortage of haters between now and next season. It’s all about how he gets off the mat and responds. Based on how he responded after his winless rookie year, I think he’s a gamer and will come back hungrier. -
Based on a single game performance on the biggest stage? Silly question. The idea that a poor performance in a super bowl somehow negates all the great things they’ve done over the last two seasons is as short sighted as it gets. You can’t achieve the kind of consistent success they’ve had over the last two seasons and say either of them is overrated.

He got one with Denver a few years ago, but it would have been nice to see him get another, too.

Defense certainly won this championship. Belichick schooled McVay every step of the way. The Rams had no answers. I dont like GOAT conversations at all, but I’ll make an exception when I say Belichick is the greatest football coach in history.

Is Rob Gronkowski a first ballot Hall of Famer?
K-9 replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately, yes. It's not even up for debate. OP should realize that reception numbers are only half the equation for him. He's among the best blocking TEs in history. And for as much as we all want try to relegate the running game to non-essential status, it has remained a key part of the Pats*** success for years. Gronk is a huge part of that. -
