  1. When did Trotz choose them over Buffalo? He was steadily employed when we had every job opening since Lindy left and we didn’t have the job opening when he became available before last season.
  2. The face that launched a thousand quips.
  3. Well, that clears up my confusion on this issue, but rest assured, I am still a confused individual. But thanks for clearing it up, anyway, Joe.
  4. I’m officially confused (I know, I know). This is the first I’ve heard that Dylan Cozens was slated to play NCAA hockey.
  5. I got that part. Not sure why their coach would be bummed about Dylan Cozens’s thumb injury.
  6. Boned right back. Well after the fact. Again. Soccer sucks in that regard.
  7. I think this is a fair question. Imo, perhaps we can start ending the madness when we are just as outraged that hate groups wrap themselves in the same flag we get pissed off about others disrespecting.
  8. I’m not gonna get bogged down in the larger point you’re making. But Nike isn’t in the business of making multi million dollar marketing decisions based on BS.
  9. Most of us in the general public, yes. I think it’s likely that watchdog groups, people who are targets of white supremacists, and most likely Nike’s marketing machine became aware before today.
  10. I doubt they will as the same demographic concerns would exist. They are all targeting the same market. But the point you raise is an interesting one, imo. With all the outrage Kaepernick has engendered, why hasn’t a competitor gone that route? I think it’s a rhetorical question given the above mentioned marketing constraints. Be that as it may (or may not) be, that’s where Nike’s bread is buttered. And while they have diversified market segments globally and none outperforms the other in terms of revenue generated to any great degree, that age 15-40 demographic is where they are staking future, sustainable growth.
  11. There’s a lot to this and I appreciate you pointing it out. Unfortunately, Nike is far from alone in this travesty. If we really cared about this issue as a society, the exploitation of child labor on a global scale, we wouldn’t eat most of the chocolate or drink most of the coffee consumed on this planet. If we really cared about the dignity of laborers and the conditions they work in or the ridiculously low wage they are paid, we wouldn’t use half the products presently consumed; from electronics to clothing and everything in between. The issue just doesn’t make us uncomfortable enough. For lots of reasons.
  12. I suspect Nike’s marketing research, including various focus groups in their age 15-40 demographic, is more concerned about the co-opting and association of the Betsy Ross flag design by and with various white supremacy groups. More and more marketers have adopted zero tolerance policies in that regard in recent years.
  13. There may be some in that demographic who believe that, but that didn’t even enter my thought process and I’ve never considered that. I’ll leave that to you and others to discuss. Again, the poster I responded to said he was “dumbfounded” as to the reason why Nike would listen to Colin Kaepernick’s advice. I merely offered some clarification as to possible reasons why. There is absolutely NO editorial slant in my post and none was intended.
  14. You said you were dumbfounded and I was just offering some clarification. I appreciate all the food for thought in your post. I’ll leave that to you and others to discuss further.
  15. Kaepernick is popular with Nike’s number one targeted demographic.
  16. I hope so, too. What I don’t like is that, unlike the case with Pilut last year, if he doesn’t make the Sabres out of camp, we won’t have the luxury of following his progress in Rochester. His Finnish team would need to OK that and it’s been reported that they most likely won’t. It’s the Sabres or bust this year for Artuu.
  17. You’re right, not an easy call. And a call made even more complicated by the fact that two of our projected top 6 D, Bogo and Pilut, are most likely gonna start the season on IR.
  18. I don’t think you’re off at all. Spot on, in fact. As I’ve said a few times, we need to get a legit top six scoring threat in return or no deal. Keeping Risto hurts us far less than the acquisition of a non impact player helps us.
  19. Looks like we are loading up the Amerks’ forward group. I suspect that means the Sabres are counting on promoting and/or packaging a couple wingers in a trade.
  20. Can't believe Kessel threw his GM under the bus like that. The ball on that guy!
  21. In the few times I’ve heard Krueger speak, he’s yet to strike a sour note with me. And the disparity between him and Housley continues to be so evident.
  22. To whom do you refer: me or McKenzie? If it's me, then you must know I'm genetically pre-disposed to being with the Bills. If it's McKenzie, then I think that his hard work will pay off one way or the other, preferably for us. But sometimes that's not the case. And whatever his hard work can accomplish to help him put some positive plays on tape for other teams to see in the event we cut him is a good thing.
  23. You’re right. Better to take him out back and “Old Yeller” his untalented ass.
