While I have always subscribed to the “talent trumps coaching” philosophy, last year the Sabres were the perfect storm of poor talent AND poor coaching. Coaches like Housley need great talent up and down the lineup to have any chance of winning.

Release him? At this stage, they are more likely to showcase him and try to have him set a new yardage record just to flip off the league. That’s their mentality. Starts with Kraft. I remember seeing him saying “F them,” during their pregame ceremony before kickoff of their opening game after when Brady was suspended for deflate gate. Robert Kraft is a phony thug wannabe.

No doubt. Running or receiving, Barkley is gonna get his. But I’d rather have him best us catching passes from Eli than getting handoffs as a lot more can go wrong. Barkley is a transcendent talent, regardless.

Agree. Best way to take Barkley out of the game is to score early, build a lead, and force the GIants to play catch up by throwing the ball. That said, I fully expect Daboll to disagree and establish a ball control offense to keep Barkley off the field.

I’ll take Brown’s word for it on that play. He said the CB had good coverage and had taken away anything over the top. He said Allen saw that and deliberately took something off the ball and let Brown make the adjustment. So yeah, that’s something good passers have to do on occasion. Bless ‘em!

This is the most important aspect of the position. While everybody wants to focus on passer ratings, I prefer to look at him as a quarterback and his ability to get off the mat when things go bad. Allen was tested numerous times in that regard on Sunday and came through with flying colors. The kid is a flat out competitor who can take a punch in the jaw, come back, and knock your ass out. And if I can borrow a line from Jarvis Landry, that is CONTAGIOUS! To everybody on the team, including coaches. Bad plays happen to everyone. The key is all about how you respond. Always.

I object to this narrative that we “stole” the game. When you hand the other team it’s collective ass on both sides of the ball, you haven’t “stolen” anything. Overcoming 4 turnovers and a safety with a 4th qtr comeback isn’t stealing; it’s preventing an opponent you’ve outplayed from stealing the game. Saying we stole the game cheapens how well we actually played. We claimed the damned thing.

And if it’s close win and not a blowout?

Total jerk move by Kelly when he threw Ballard under see the bus like that. Especially because he threw a TD pass on that very play! Not surprising given how big of an Ahole Kelly was back then. That said, it was when Kelly made amends afterward and began hosting his weekly postgame parties at his house that they really became a tight knit group. Maybe that “bickering” was meant to happen.
