  1. It’ll be interesting to see if teams are interested in meeting his number when he becomes a free agent.
  2. Anything is possible, but he seems adamant about wanting out of Chi town. Then again, money has a way of smoothing things over.
  3. As a rule, player agents don’t normally dictate terms of a trade, so I’d say it was Bears management that decided no offer was good enough. They’re gonna regret that hardball stance when he leaves for nothing in free agency. Unless they tag him, which would be a fun circus to watch unfold.
  4. He’s had every opportunity with the same coaching as other much less heralded players that continue to out perform him. It’s entirely up to him at this point.
  5. I’d like to see McD employ the same D schemes he used vs Miami. Similar offenses with QBs who like to get rid of it quick.
  6. Yep. August of ‘75. Remember that particular game like it was yesterday. And for all the wrong reasons. I mean there is absolutely no reason to remember a meaningless preseason game to begin with.
  7. He played his first four years at the Rockpile and we all saw him play there so cut yourself and your memory some slack.
  8. Can’t give him reps at the expense of better players currently. That’s not giving up on him, that’s just saying it’s not his turn yet when better players are getting those reps.
  9. Preseason against the Rams at Rich Stadium.
  10. Had his career maintained it’s trajectory before the knee injury, I’ll tell you where he’d be: in the HOF as a first ballot inductee. He was a shutdown before anyone knew what that was and he made a habit of shutting down HOF receivers.
  11. Yep. And it really isn’t all that close. Nope, that would be Robert James. 1st team All Pro in both 1973 and 1974 seasons.
  12. Well, there’s a reason why the CB section of the defensive playbook is the thinnest but, that said, McD’s zone coverage schemes are a tad more complex for CBs. But it ain’t rocket science regardless and I suspect it will be a fast transition for an experienced vet like Douglas.
  13. Well done Bears. Now you get to lose an asset for nothing in free agency.
  14. Whoever thought Surtain was gonna be easy to get is utterly clueless about what it costs to acquire a 1st team All Pro CB on his rookie deal.
  15. Must have been the TOTAL LACK OF HUMOR in your post that threw me off. At least Sgt. Hulka was genuinely funny.
  16. What else does the guy who leads the NFL in turnovers lead the league in since he got to the NFL?
  17. Absolutely. And by the same token, the Bears risk losing him for nothing in free agency.
  18. Best waiver acquisition in league history. For the $100 waiver fee we got a first ballot HOFer with elite athletic skills with PLENTY left in the tank.
  19. That was certainly one of them as it immediately changed the power structure in the AFCE because it gave us the pass rush to impact Marino consistently. But I’d say the final moves to make us SB contenders were the addition of Thurman and the hiring of Marchibroda as OC.
  20. The Hail Mary has it’s place, but I’d like to see some Our Fathers thrown in from time to time.
  21. When offensive holding occurs beyond the LOS, it’s a spot foul and marked 10 yards back from the spot of the infraction. In this case, the holding occurred two yards beyond the LOS resulting in the 1st and 18 down.
