Me too, but I didn’t think he’d be the pick. I wanted Ladd, Mitchell or my crush Polk. Wasn’t happy with the pick of Coleman. Seeing who the person is has helped me come around to it. Great kid and can be a real weapon if he’s used correctly. Only going to get stronger and better at running routes. I agree….as long as his body can hold up.

I don’t know if that’s necessarily the case but to each their own. I think it’s better stated that they didn’t have a plan that most people would agree is a good plan. Me included. I was hoping to somehow replace Diggs with an upper echelon WR, which is easier said than done considering our cap sitch. I didn’t think the chiefs had a good plan for replacing Tyreek either. I think the plan on offense is to run more 12 personnel and become more difficult to defend by disguising the run and pass. Having the ability to run multiple designs with different combinations of players using their skillets. Not so much the meta x,y,z- rather lots of bunch and play action to keep the d off balance. Having WRs with the ability to run block (which they all have). Brady had access to an elite WR last season and didn’t utilize him very much. Certainly didn’t get the best out of him. Cap/age transition offseason can be devastating for some teams. I don’t see us being one of those teams. We play a lot of very good teams this year, I see our season being similar to last year- making the playoffs/winning the division will excruciating and down to the wire. If that turns out to be the case, the plan couldn’t be that bad. We’d be right back where we were last season

Do you think that’s the reason he was traded?

NFL 2024 Kickoff: Ravens @ Chiefs, Sept 5 - 8:20pm
NewEra replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Obv this season can’t be regarded as their best offense because it hasn’t taken place….. Hill gone and is replaced by rice, worthy and brown. 3 potentially very good playmakers plus an upgrade at RB with Pacheco. Juju is also capable. Certainly capable of being better imo. Reid and Mahomes continue to grow together. Srsly -

For once I agree with you 😉 I think the card +6 are a great bet and our d could have it’s hands full. They have talented playmakers and I like their scheme on D (but a terrible front 7 imo). My hope is that we can be an efficient run offense that opens up big plays with play action (and Josh’s elite ability). If we can’t run efficiently, it could be a long day of watching Kyler run around wearing out our D. if we can’t run, do we have the ability to pivot? Can the D, led by its new DC (aka the lamb), save the O if it struggles? Lots of unknowns on both sides of the ball for us….as well as Az. It’s an interesting first game and I think some people might be looking a team with some potentially great playmakers. Murray, harrison and McBride could be special. Connor and Benson are a nice 1-2. I could see this ending in several different ways -
NFL 2024 Kickoff: Ravens @ Chiefs, Sept 5 - 8:20pm

Great start to the season game. I’m excited for this one. Ravens in year 2 under Monken. The addition of Henry could be a game changer for them if he still has the juice. I’m not a Lamar believer come playoffs but I was never a Nick Foles believer either. If their OL plays well, they could be really tough. eff the chiefs just like I used to eff the pats. Dealing with elite HC - QB combos for 20+ in a row sucks. The pats didn’t win the SB every year. I don’t think the chiefs will either. They may have their best offense yet this year, but they’ll need to avoid key injuries again I think their luck runs out this season in that department. They’re due -
I hope so. I love watching Dorian play. Could be a baller for sure. Hopefully he isn’t as reckless in year 2.

Week 1 - Cardinals at Bills - Game Week Thread

Definitely- just disappointed he’s starting his career off not being to practice and being injured. -
I love this kid. Losing Milano is excruciating but Bernard’s existence give me hope. Glad I was so wrong about this pick.

Seeing Solomon on there is a bummer. I’m really excited about this kid. We might not see him until a DE inevitably gets injured -
Void of talent….: lol. Rousseau is about to get paid 20M+, ed, Daquan, Bernard, benford, Douglas, Taron are all very good players. We only look void of talent if you don’t know talent. We aren’t as talented in years past. Our safeties are questionable as is Milano replacement. There are holes and I think we will take a slight step back statistically (mostly due to a tougher schedule). I don’t think we are void of talent. Not even close

Yeah, maybe we should reward crappy players for telling the truth. Sounds like a great business decision. yeah- he just hired him so he can sacrifice him. Keep thinking that
-
Listen to it again- Levi said it was a good play call. He also said that he usually looks at where the other guys are….but he didn’t this time. On the most important play of his career….. he decides not to do he does on every other play…. again. McDermott deserves a lot of blame for the loss 💯—- but like I’ve been saying - it’s not ONLY on him. You disagree- cool
-
Yeah- common sense to kick the ball in play ends the game. bad play calling on D too. But also bad execution. you mention unnamed players saying McDermott screwed up the kickoff call, well there’s a named player that says he screwed up on defensive execution. Like mcd had stated. you might be right about McDermott being Daboll or Frazier if he didn’t have Allen. I’m not saying he’s great- I’m just not jumping to ridiculous conclusions because I don’t like the guy
-
The kickoff was the biggest bonehead play of them all. Kickoff in bounds and they only have one play.
-
Who’s defending mcd’s defensive play calls in 13 seconds? He blew it. 💯 - I would’ve been fine if we had fired him after the last 2 seasons (as long as we had hired Ben Johnson as HC). I just don’t think every coaching hire he makes is to make the scapegoats in order to keep his job….like some do I don’t know who was to blame for the kickoff. That’s why I said what I said. You apparently think that “a number of players off the record” is the gospel. You should know better. which article did you take the quotes from? I thought we were supposed to post links when taking such large excepts. Sure looks like an anti-mcd article.

Why didn’t Belichick? Why didn’t Tomlin? 🤷🏻♂️ I’m not a head coach. There aren’t very many defensive head coaches that exclusively called all of the defensive plays to my knowledge Funny that he uses Farwell as his example after one of the biggest boneheaded gaffes in coaching history (if he in fact didn’t tell his kicker to kick it in bounds).

Which defensive HCs should he emulate? Bill Belichick? The best coach ever that rarely called his defensive plays? Mike tomlin? Who sometimes calls plays and sometimes not? Dan Quinn? Who said he’s not calling plays this season. He’s a defensive head coach- those are the guys he should be compared to. Which other defensive minded head coaches always called their own plays? Which coaches should he emulate? You act as if there aren’t many plausible reasons for him not to call the plays- — it’s takes away from his head coaching duties. — the main reason he called plays last year is because he thought he was their best option not because he wanted to do it long term — he’s been mentoring a young defensive mind that he likes and thinks that he’s finally ready after a year of watching McD calls plays. as if the only reason McD would hand play calling duties to his DC is because “McD smells something sour brewing and he's heading from the kitchen to the living room”….. and needs a sacrificial lamb. Yeah, that’s the only reason he would do that 🙄

Solid comp. I think Shakir is a bigger threat after the catch but not by much. -

Lol- incorrect. You’re too funny. I’m not looking for comps online, yet trying to make my own comp. I don’t see Beasley as a comp other than arms and slot play. Beasley is much smaller, weaker and worse rac. Shakir is a threat with the ball in his hand and it’s one of his strong points. If someone is a comp yo him, rac ability has to be a strong point for them as well imo. Kupp, I can get on board with considering route running, size and hands. yes I know, Gabe, foster and Burkett were true outside guys- which is just one of the reasons they don’t belong in a reply to the post you quoted….. other than if you’re just looking for a way to dump on Shakir. He wasn’t looking for a statistical/production/career comparison….. yet thats what you gave him. No mention of Kupp or Beasley because those would be positive -

Agreed- the pacific NW has taken a big turn for the worse over the last 5 years despite its ridiculous real estate prices.
