NFL will look at the fumble-out-of-end-zone rule
NewEra replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lol…..incentivize- the offensive team can still lose the ball if they fumble. As I’ve said- if the team fumbles the ball at the 1 yard line and it goes OOB in the end zone and they get the ball at the 20,15,10,5 yard line- how is that incentive? They still get punished for their recklessness. I’ve never said the offensive team should just get the ball at the spot of the fumble. They just shouldn’t lose their opportunity for a FG (or another TD attempt). The way it currently stands, the defense gets a freebie for doing nothing. Being rewarded for the offense “reaching for the goalline”…… as if that’s one sort of crazy idea. -

Can you stand it when a player reaches for a 1st down marker midfield on 3rd down? Should the defense be rewarded with the ball if it’s fumbled OOB there too? It’s a risky play at midfield too….. so why reward the O for a risky play? again- can someone answer this: Why reward the defense for doing NOTHING? The offense can still have a negative consequence for the risky play….. and not lose possession while rewarding the D for nothing. The punishment just doesn’t fit the crime And it’ll likely be changed because it doesn’t make perfect sense. -

There’s enough jeopardy already. They can fumble and still lose the ball….who knows if the ball is going to go oob or stay in bounds allowing the D to recover. I get why some think there needs to be some jeopardy for the offense. I agree, which is why I think putting the ball at a designated yard line would do just that. If you fumble at the 1 into the EZ oob and get the ball at the 20, 15, 10, 5 yard line, that still results in a negative play for the O equal to a sack or more. rewarding the d for doing absolutely NOTHING makes zero sense to me. I’ve been impatiently awaiting this rule change since inception. -

Because the offense always gets the ball back if the defense doesn’t recover it in every other part of the field…. Yet someone, when the offense is about to score…..the defense deserves to get the ball back for doing literally nothing? I think it’s a terrible rule and it seems the league may agree -
Did he cite his rookie year? The Mahomes total yards he listed was higher than yours. TDs are the same.

I like the person and the hard worker. I think he will continue to improve in many aspects of playing the position- I’m just not a fan of his athletic ability -

I hear ya It’s extensive and and unfair punishment. It’s seems like the nfl agrees and is looking to lessen the blow. From my perusing social media today, the majority of the world agrees and also thinks the punishment is too harsh Anything is an upgrade over its current system. Just don’t give the defense the ball. That’s all I really care about. Finding a common ground beyond that shouldn’t be too tough -

This is about the ball going oob in the end zone the offense is trying to score on. Regarding the bolded- how you stated it is how it currently stands. The nfl is talking about changing it because it unfairly rewards the defense/very harsh punishment for the offense This makes sense for sure I could see losing the yards gained as a decent punishment for losing the ball in a key area. As long as the offense keeps the ball, I’m ok with most scenarios. Giving the defense the ball is just insane to me -

So you think a defensive team that just stands there and watches a player fumble the ball out of the end zone they’re defending should get 2 points and the ball? 🤦🏻♂️ -

Giving the opposing team the possession of the ball for potentially doing nothing is perfect? 🤷🏻♂️ I’d give the ball to the offense somewhere between the 10 and the 20. The defense shouldn’t get the ball unless they recover it imo. -

Thanks for the advice. I’ll be sure to take your advice on something -
Heard a stat today- Josh allen is the only player in nfl history to account for 35 TDs through 13 games. Saw another stats: that he’s accounted for 84%+ of the Bills TDs this year. By FAR %1 in the league. And he hasn’t scored on 10 tush pushes. If I’m a voter, Purdy and mccaffery cancel each other out. How can 2 players from the same team both guys be “most valuable” in the league when we don’t even know who is the most valuable to their own team? And in reality, neither are the best player on the team. They might not even be top 3 The race should be between Josh, Dak, Lamar and Tyreek imo.

15-25 wind and rain. I think it’ll have somewhat of an impact -

Spencer has improved quite a bit this year……but this is 💯 correct. I hope we focus on chipping Parsons. Quinn does a good job of moving him around to make doubling him tougher on the opposition -

Timmy Smith has the all time Super Bowl record rushing record - 204 yards. one game means zilch imo. I get the rest though and that’s why I’d like to bring him back…..but with a contract that he wouldn’t be happy with. 6M or less sounds like his worth to me. He would never be a WR on any team in the league. Ever. in Houston, he’d be WR3-4 for sure. In Indy, he’d be most likely WR3-4 in Carolina, he’d be QB1 -
After a day of research I’ve come to the conclusion that yes, we can work out some punters

Gabe Davis- Do you want him back and for how much $
NewEra replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
But why? He’s not fast. He’s not sudden. He doesn’t get good separation. Hes not an explosive leader. He’s not good on contested catches. He had zero broken tackles in 2022. He has had a penchant for drops. 🤷🏻♂️ I view his success as 65% Josh, 30% Gabes extreme hard work, 5% Gabes physical talent. Agreed. I’m all in to trade future picks to secure Odunze or Nabers. -
Gabe Davis- Do you want him back and for how much $
NewEra replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was thinking that initially (rather have a comp pick) but I don’t think anyone is going to pay him more than 11m. What kind of a comp pick do you get for losing a 10M WR? I’d put gabe in with Lazard, JuJu and MVS. 10M buyers remorse WRs. Not worthy and more like 5-7M WRs. -
Tampa also has the 2nd worst pass d in the league…..while playing in the same division as Carr, Ridder and Bryce you. - ok, thanks for answering. You don’t want him getting anymore targets than he already gets….you’d rather he get less as a WR4-5
-
So you think he should get less targets. Got it.

The current Gabe thread has me wondering what everyone else thinks. So, what do you guys think? @Mr. WEO I’m interested in your thoughts. You’re very animated in the other thread but I can’t tell where you really stand. Go on record. If there is another voting option that would better suit your feelings, say the word and I’ll add it. I went with option 2- I genuinely like Gabe and I think he has very good value as a WR4 and is an ok 3rd WR option (I don’t want him in the slot). I feel he is lacking in speed/athleticism, route running/ separation, rac and contested catches. He’s capable but just too inconsistent due to all of the above. I appreciate his work ethic and I think his parents did a wonderful job raising him to be a great humans.

Didn’t you know that Josh sucks? We need a better QB so Gabe can shine!
