I get first time coaches wanting the security of a long term deal. But it has to be tempting for a guy like Tomlin to just let the year play out and have the freedom to go anywhere. Or stay. He would be the #1 candidate next hiring cycle, and Dallas will be open, among other teams.

I would expect this to happen IF McDermott does decide to hire a DC. I hope he doesn't though, as he has this defense playing well and next year he'll have Milano AND Bernard out there at once, which will be amazing

that said, the idea of the KC game coming down to a FG attempt fills me with dread. Bass could hit a 55 yard FG right down the middle with 15 yards to spare, or shank a 25 yard FG so far to the side that it doesn't even hit the net. It's literally a crapshoot. That short FG he missed badly last week didn't really matter, but it will eventually in a closer game

It makes sense too... Yes, you want to be great everywhere, but having an elite punter of the ball vs an elite holder for kicks is a no brainer. A playoff game is almost certainly not going to come down to hitting a long punt. But it often comes down to making a FG.

wasn't he known as an elite holder when he was here? We actually do need that in the cold and weather right now. Punt God hadn't really held for kicks if I recall correctly. That could be the difference in the playoffs

If the goal is getting to a Super Bowl then the NFC is the place to go. I know coaches and players don't think like that, but really, it's strategic. Harbaugh on the Falcons would be cool, and they would actually use their skill players on offense. That division is total meh, and even a 7-10 record has you in the conversation for a division title and home playoff game.

I hope this next round of snow doesn't affect the team's ability to practice and prepare. They're calling for 1-3 feet, right in the same spot as before.

For some reason seeing the Eagles come up short is a lot more enjoyable than I expected. Siriani strikes me as a foul mouthed miserable clown.
