  1. Yea, I was at that game. They just ran simple misdirection plays for the 2nd half and gashed us for what? 300 yards?
  2. Im not worried about our base D to be honest, we largely got torched in Nickel and Dime situations this year anyway. Get a LB who can cover, and some good sized corners who can tackle.
  3. I think too much is made of 3-4 vs. 4-3. In the end he'll have his hand down more than he'll be standing up. JJ Watt just goes to show you that the 3-4 end isn't the same position it used to be.
  4. I still like the Kyle williams as a nose tackle in the 3-4. He had a little Jay Ratliff in him, as a penetrator blowing up the blocking schemes in the backfield. Dareus would need to drop lbs to play end, and mario flexing with carrington at end and linebacker in pass rushing situations. The problem is that we have lousy linebackers, and now we would need even more linebackers to cover. I think sheppard fits into a 3-4 better though, as does Moats (if we keep him, which we probably won't).
  5. I'd be fine with most of this. If troup can actually get on the field as a depth NT, that pick would actually make some sense. The backers suck though...
  6. He's around JJ Watt's size, and hes been crushing it in the 3-4. I don't think he wants to be locked in as a 3-4 end or OLB, but if he can do both I'm sure he'd be fine.
  7. It's tough when we run tons of shotgun 5 -wide sets with no help anywhere. What happened to play action? What happened to rollouts and bootlegs?
  8. Then get a new kicker with the leg. Its stupid as hell to punt from the 33 yard line. Or at least teach brad smith to punt so we can have some type of attempt to get the first/make them call time out.
  9. i know... if ur not going to win any games at least get me a few TDs for my fantasy team
  10. Made a nice play to force a fumble today. PI was the end of the game, but i had 0 faith in a comeback anyway
  11. As bad as the red flag thing was... He kicked a 48 yard field goal on 3rd down. I don't care who the kicker is, that's a tough kick from the hash. Why not try and pick up a few yards? What are u doing on a bad snap? A 58 yarder? Dumb!
  12. Right with everyone on Losman hate. I hated this guy from the moment we traded up to get him. He doesnt look like a QB, doesnt carry himself like hes the guy. Even Rob Johnson had some of the swagger needed to be a QB. Losman was a bust from day 1.
  13. The niners look pretty good with Alex smith/ kapernick (no idea how to spell that) and a solid D. The Seahawks seem to be competing in every game with a rookie QB. Chicago looks unbeatable with hit or miss Cutler. Consider what Arizona is doing with not only atrocious QB play, but crappy RBs too. What I am trying to say is it is perfectly possible to win with the QB we have, by improving other elements around the team. I do think we need to draft a young guy to groom, because Fitz can be infuriatingly bad at times, and we dont have a competant backup on the team. We need Linebackers that can tackle, and a Coordinator whos not afraid to take chances. A leader on D would do wonders too, our whole team too often is looking around for someone to tell them how to play, where to go etc.
  14. Blame the D, but they came up with a couple of pretty clutch stops against one of the best O's in Football. Holding them to 3 and keeping 2+ on the clock is more than we should be asking of a historically bad D. We drove down, had 30 seconds left on the 15 yard line, and absolutely blew it. Stats are just stats, and I'm 100% with Stevie that we should be targeting a Vet on that drive.
  15. I used to love watching highlights on ESPN, but now good games between playoff teams get 25 minutes of coverage. And a bills game gets booted to 25 seconds in the last 5 minutes. Even beyond that... Hockey highlights? yeah right! Soccer? Good joke... Just watch highlights on the computer, ESPN is just good for things like 30 for 30 and live games.
  16. Arrington was actually pretty good, whether a product of steroids or not. He had Merriman like injury issues
  17. Chan has NOT used the wildcat creatively at all. It always takes way too long to set up, and theres no motion, no pitches, no hand offs or anything. Its a direct snap and run move. Absolute garbage. His addiction to Fitz passes boggles my mind as well. Without Nelson, we have had to rely on Chandler way more, and hes shown himself incapable of making clutch first down catches. Time to get a guy who can run routes, get open, catch the ball, and move the chains!
  18. FWIW I thought Landry Jones actually looked pretty good as well when I was watching Oklahoma. Didn't seem to have happy feet against Notre Dame, and did a decent job taking what they were giving him.
  19. I never really liked bell, always seemed ok in pass protection but in the running game I never noticed him.
  20. We draft poorly whether we draft first or 10th. Good players go all throughout the draft, and there is no lock pick. Believe it or not, the players are ALL available, and if theres someone you really really want, you can aggressively pursue the pick necessary to get them. Sure we didn't get Willis because he was picked before us, but Revis went right after us and we didnt pick him either. A couple years later we DID get Maybin when we couldve traded down or up. Losing on purpose is moot if you cant pick winners.
  21. I don't want to give up quite yet, but they have no killer instinct, and Gaileys in denial of where we currently stand. We are not out of it by any means, but when you dont take ANY chances in a game youre likely to lose - Guess what? You Lose!!! If we are out, it starts with leaders. This team needs leaders on both sides of the ball. A QB who can open up the playbook would be great as well. But someone on the defense who has an idea of whats going on out there is just as important. If its replacing Wilson, or Shephard, or Barnett (or all 3), it has to happen for the team to improve. Our young CBs are BEGGING for leadership. Multiple times this season Gilmore, and Williams even Mcgee are second guessing playcalls - man vs. zone - etc. It's not on Mario and Dareus to tell you who and how to cover, but it is on SOMEONE. I think we need that guy as much as we need a Geno Smith, or Barkley.
  22. The team seems like they have no chemistry. They play without passion and drive, and they often look lost on both sides of the ball. We need not only coachs, but players who believe that they are the best team on the field, and that they can beat everyone. I dont think weve had a coach like that since Levy. As for players, when you lose every year I could care less who stays or goes. I think FJ is past his prime sure, but if spiller goes down we need SOMEONE back there, and the guys been good to us in the past. Fitz is gone after this year, and i think his struggles are coming a lot out of not having Nelson in the slot. He was clutch in the red zone, and while being younger than most guys on the team, was developing into a leader on offense. My fix is the same as most, but the key is leaders, and people who will hold themselves and everyone else on the field accountable. A defensive "QB" is needed as much as a real franched QB.
  23. Brad Smith is probably the most under-utilized player on the team. Theres like so many things wrong with how we use him: 1 - Hes back there by himself, so he already doesnt have anyone to pitch to - The option needs OPTIONS... if its a speed option he needs someone back there so they cant just pack the box on him 2 - They rarely have spiller or jackson motion across, so theres no confusion on whos getting the ball or where its going 3 - We keep fitz on the field for some reason, even though we could sub him out for an actual receiver - or extra blockers 4 - We never put him in the backfield WITH fitz, which can cause some confusion as well 5 - Havent done one reverse with him all year... That ALSO can cause confusion since if its designed correctly we can have open receivers downfield (that bengals one is a great example) - not to mention hes fast and shifty - get him the ball in space! 6 - Teach the guy to punt... considering we punt from the 35 in OT (and in their territory frequently), we may as well have a guy who can cause them to maybe burn a Timeout or save ourselves a big return 7 - How about a creative "Music City Miracle" Type of return play? Just some of my thoughts about our boring vanilla offense... The worst part is, I feel like theyve worked on these things but they never do them
  24. I think we should just make the offense a little more classic. Regular I formations (mix in some fj/cj dual back stuff), and run some play action. Helps create more space for fitz, plus gets him on the move where he thrives more.
  25. If i recall correctly, mcgee dropped into zone - turned around to find out it was a man call. Cant fault a coach for a players mental mistake
