This explains it pretty well: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/marcell-dareus-7718/ Dead money is attributed to up front bonus. That's the number that hits the cap should we trade or cut him. Notice how its higher than his salary for next year, and its his full salary in 2018? Thats why we basically can't cut him or trade him.

Who has the best chance of pulling off an upset?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seattle scored 6 against arizona, and 12 against miami. They definitely aren't the juggernaut they once were. I'd say Buffalo has the better chance. -
First Cleveland, Now the Cubs.....
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to chaccof's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
More teams in the playoffs, full series vs. single game. More needs to break right for the bills to make the playoffs which is the big hurdle. Once you're in you only have to win a couple games and its yours. The Sabres should be in almost every year, but it's almost another season in the playoffs. -
Drafting a QB every year, in practice
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Thurmal34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since you have them under contract for 3-5 years depending where they are drafted. I say maybe every other year? If we let TT and EJ walk this year, i would draft 2 this year though. There are exceptions in cases where the cupboard is bare. -
The AFC Playoff Picture

And they need to probably win 3 of the tough games. I don't like our chances against pittsburgh so this games pretty important if the bills want to believe. -
Gilmore needs to go
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to offsides#76FredSmerlas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's like this all over the NFL. He's in for a massive pay day whether he stays or leaves, and doesn't seem to care either way. Can't blame him - he'll be set for life. Whaley has to realize that you build through the draft at this point. It's the only way to maintain lower payroll around all the massive extensions we gave out. You then can continue extend the best players you need/want to keep. -

so... Chad Kelly then? -
Gilmore "was" reportedly available for trade

The value would be all in "IF"s. If he comes back - hes good. If Haden isn't hurt, he's good. etc. -

Goodwin, hunter, Woods, EJ manuel, Lorenzo Alexander, Zach Brown, Douzable... we have quite a few UFAs. -

Yeah - thats a tough offer... Assuming we aren't super active in free agency/only go for cap casualties - we probably get a comp 3rd or 4th for him -
Gilmore needs to go
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to offsides#76FredSmerlas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but having played a bunch of sports, lack of effort is always something that irks me. Getting fired up is fine, but not running out a grounder or fly ball shows me you're just in it for yourself. I doubt he would've caught up to him, nor would it have mattered if he did, but i can't stand someone quitting on a play. -
Typically I'd agree. But when your playmaker's aren't that good, and he's a very dynamic running threat, he may actually be the best open field threat we have on the team. I see it to a point, but people get injured all the time in the NFL. The playing surface is probably responsible for as many injuries as hard hits and stuff. That and all the muscle strains, pulls, and tears that happen.

If we traded him right now for a pick, much like New England did with Collins for similar reasons. How would everyone feel? -
Just needs to do a better job of taking what they give you. If they give you deep shots, go ahead and take them. But i doubt deep stuff is open when you're down 3 scores vs. new england. He was trying to drop dimes between the corner safety and sideline. Your chance that it be incomplete is so high it isn't worth the risk. Very rarely are there no high safeties (situation where you absolutely can throw deep because the ball can float inside or outside shoulder and you still don't have the chance of int's). And very rarely are we taking these on 1st and 2nd downs (when they may anticipate a run or when we can execute PA). We're chucking it deep on 3rd and 3 with an easy first down in front of us. Know the down and distance, know the stakes, and pick your battles. Run more if it means more first downs. Which will probably mean more points and TOP.

Percy Harvin coming back

I assume for veteran minimum...? -
I didn't like lynch really where he went either. I think we should bring in more competition. We can't hand #1 to TT, or #2 to cardale. They should all be competing. If you were the Coach and the GM took away your QB, you'd expect them to call you and say i have a plan beyond... uhhh chad kelly?! Especially after what went down in NY. Sanchez was not good, but i think he expected something beyond Geno Smith.
-
I think I'm getting to the point where i don't really care what his long term sustainability is. If he's going to be our QB beyond this year, he has to do something to help us win games. Rex clearly like's him, so he'll probably stick if Rex sticks. You aren't guaranteed to be more likely to get injured because you run. Rg3 hurt his knee in crappy grass, not running down the middle of the field or getting lit up by a linebacker. I think wilson got his foot stepped on. Vick was constantly banged up i feel, but he never really learned to slide. He also got injured a few times in the pocket. I'd say Vick/Kaepernick are the most similar comparisons to Tyrod. You can probably get to the playoffs with him, but you need other things to go well. My only concern then becomes short term. Rex would be involved in the decision should he stay - he's not going to want to go into next year with Cardale. It's Geno all over again - even if Cardale is better - he'll look at it as a lame duck year.

Pats trade Jamie Collins
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless they planned on being active in Free agency this year. In which case the comp pick of losing collins could be offset by acquiring say Jeffrey or something
