The options are limited, and they have a very good defense. He's not the #1 option, but he's a viable backup solution should Lynch look bad. Simien has been fine for them, but they are where they are because of their defense. Siemian is cheap... like really cheap. If there's a trade market for him, and they could plug in TT as the backup they'd have to consider it. I wouldn't see them moving on from Lynch after just 1 year, but they have to make a decision at some point.

I could see Denver or Arizona. Denver doesn't seem like a team willing to wait and see if Lynch can be the guy next year - they'd rather have a solid backup plan. Same goes for Arizona - sub par QB and O-line play is why they are where they are this year.

Belichick collects picks - the new CBA added a rookie wage scale so it's massively cheaper to get solid contributors on their first contracts. The comp picks he gets are further added to that, and he seems to target cap casualties often for players on 3rd deals. He'll extend players he likes a lot - but only at their perceived value to him. Not market value. Hogans value to them is a receiver with enough speed to blow the top off of a defense, but other discernible skills. Like hands and route running. He's also an a passionate, unselfish player, who plays teams without complaining. Sounds like a patriots player to me... -
Russ has been here a long time. He was essentially acting as our owner (or in his best interests) for like 10 year prior to Ralph's passing. He then helped facilitate the sale to the Pegulas, and in turn demonstrated to them that he's a valuable component of the organization. IE - it was the coaches, the players, the GMs who were bad... not me. When are people going to get a grip and just realize this guy's a media leak, a know-it-all, and a snake?

They only have 8 picks this year - They have played the Kessler/Whitehurst browns, the Goff Rams, the Kaep 49ers, and Houston. They do a good job stopping the run, and have an offense that puts up points (5th in PPG - even including a shutout with their 3rd string qb). They're top 10 - but i wouldn't put them at top 5. PPG isn't the most reliable statistic to me. -

Possibly a Rooney Rule - but Lynn did interview for 2 HC spots last offseason. -

They currently have a bunch of guys who are not tied specifically to any scheme. They've had straight nose tackles like wilfork, and have rotated in more penetration style players like Kyle Williams. They tend to gameplan better than most team's at defense and are not dependent on scheme or deception. A guy might see 40 snaps one week and 15 the next, and he doesn't complain or say a word. Their defense currently isn't "great" - but they also don't have a bunch of high priced talent on that side of the ball. Good mix of young guys and older guys on cheaper 2nd/3rd contracts. D-line - Flowers, Brown, Long, Sheard, Valentine Lbs - Hightower, Roberts, McClellin, Van Noy DBs - Butler, Ryan, and Jones - with McCourtey and Chung in the back. No one there is like blowing you away - maybe hightower? But they liked what they saw in Butler and Roberts so much to jettison Revis and Collins. They got o-line help with a pick from trading away Chandler Jones. Now they have a good/great rotation of o-lineman after depth there previously was a weakness. They also aren't afraid to dump players who want too much money - mankins, collins, and jones come to mind. The value they got back wasn't amazing necessarily, but they don't have majorly bad contracts on their payroll so that flexibility lets them be competitive with the mid-tier free agents that they covet. They can also add big short-term contracts because of their cap management. -
Taylor Comes Up Lame

Almost like the guy leaking this information to the media isn't actually in charge... like maybe Russ Brandon...? -
Goin got with Russ... doesn't it seem like a lot of stuff gets leaked to the media these days...? The last 20 years or so...?

Jeff Fisher fired, should have been Rob Ryan!

I think Mcdaniels goes there... Gets his QB to groom, a solid group of talent on defense. Could see them going after a Jeffrey type. -
bills are bad, so are its fans smashing tables

As a fan of pro wrestling, and having a friend who actively wrestles... They don't use plastic ones because they don't actually break. Also - you're going to wanna know how to bump before they start throwing you through tables. A for effort, F for execution... -
I like going to games though. We have no colleges in the area with competitive football games, and it's one of my favorite sports to attend. Hockey is fine, but the tailgating aspect is a lot of fun. I'm not a season ticket holder, but I typically go to 4 or 5 a year.

Cardinals Cut WR Michael Floyd
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He lost his job to nelson it seems. Between John Brown, David Johnson, Fitz, and JJ nelson there just aren't enough targets. He was in line for a nice pay day before this year. Now he'll be looking for a 1yr prove it type. With Whaley in charge, he may look at him. -
There will also be cap casualties - brandon marshall probably, maybe barwin, as well as a ton of mid-range guys. Assuming we lose woods, zbrown, lorax, and gilmore we may want to try and retain our comp picks.
-
Assuming we start fresh with a new FO. 1 - Patricia 2 - Cardale 3 - Probably Floyd... I don't see us going after any big time guys. This is essentially our QBs rookie year, and typically you don't see a ton of success on the W-L front. Dak is an anomaly, but Winston and Mariota have seemed to come along a bit. Wentz and Goff have definitely struggled though. If the best your talented team can do is basically 8-8, then you probably need to develop some younger talent. Roster's flawed and old. Mix in a good bunch of rookies this year and let some people walk. Go after cap casualties to add some comp picks.

What time does Rex get fired today?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Go Bills!!!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TT deserves to be benched, but Rex deserves to be fired. He is running a listless team that doesn't seem to care that they're getting smoked at home. -
Most of our LBs are free agents. Should be easy to make the switch

We Should Pick Up the Option on Tyrod No Matter What
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If u fire Rex, fire Whaley and Brandon too. Overdorf. Every remnant of the old regime. Let the new people decide on tyrod. They'll probably get rid of him too -
Really? He said not that bad... we rolled some stinkers out there in the last 30 years. We're just spinning the wheels anyway, And there's 2 home games. May as well win them for the fans who go
