EJ deserves time on the field with first team offense.

a guy Jeff Tuel just checked in for Jacksonville. He looks pretty good, maybe we could trade EJ for him. -
Well we have a game Jan. 3rd...

Thats a good comparison. Wilson is definitely Chris Paul. Maximizes his ability by being a brilliant player. Hopefully we can get Taylor to be Eric Bledsoe instead of CJ Watson.
-
Yea I think Wilson is the epitome of how a QB with those skills should play. He makes up for every limitation with being so smart in the pocket and when to run. He also knows the reads to make and almost never makes mistakes. We would be lucky if TT become 60% of him. But he may need time. They are similar in size/strength. The rest is between the ears.

To me this is the biggest deal. I agree that from a throwing perspectice he isnt clearly better then most QBs. But will that equal then you add in the mobility he takes the lead for me. He also had a couple times when he could have bailed easily but actually stepped up in the pocket. One was the 3rd down side line throw and the other was the would-be sack that turned into 7-8 yards. The stepping up in the pocket as a first instinct was very promising.

To me a "franchise QB" is one that will almost never lose you a game, can and often does win games with his ability alone, if paired with a good D has a very realistic shot at a SB and consistently makes the offensive players he is with look good.

I agree EJ has played better than expected and has shown improvement I just wouldnt plan to see him with the ones. Rex seems to value him behind the other two. IMO. Do the TT supporters, which I consider myself as, believe that he is better/as good/or worse than RG3 in terms of ability (assuming RG3 is healthy). Last night TT extended a run a little too long and took a hit and hell likely do that in the season. I watched last night and get excited about the added elements he can bring to the offense and how he is able to move the chains but things have ended SO bad in DC that I wonder if were just kidding ourselves and the league is laughing at us. I would definitely take a 2012 RG3 performance from TT but what are the chances?

Im saying "A couple better-than-expected showing in preseason isnt going to change that." in Rex's mind. It seems the decsions has been made so we shouldnt be expecting it to change because of his recent play. -

People saying EJ should get a shot because its only fair are delusional. This competition was never going to be fair. Rex didnt draft EJ and there is plenty of tape on him already indicating he cant play. Add to that the practice hours which, by all indications, he has underperformed. If theyve already made he decision to no go with EJ then there is zero benefit of running him with the 1's. I think people need to get it out of their heads that this literally was a 3 man race. It became a 2 man a long time ago. The BS of "EJ got his start in the scrimmage" was just a nice way of saying he is clearly behind the other two. A couple better-than-expected showing in preseason isnt going to change that. -

Chip Kelly is known for being way ahead on using analytics for his team and how it practices. Sleep cycle, eating habits and more are controlled. We may not have the same type of data the Eagles have for this so Im no sure the data is there. I know we are building an analytics team and monitoring practices I just dont know how much. -
Reading comprehension isnt your game is it? Tyrod likely is more elusive than RW and going 2-0 is a fact. All that means is that he isnt a scrub and in no-way implies hes better than him at QB. If hes going to be successful the RW mold is what he has to try to fit so its completely correct to make comparisons to their styles of play.

What Would It Take To Get Mettenberger?

@LRiddickESPN: I would be pulling up Ruston Webster (#Titans GM) on my contacts this weekend and asking about #7 if I am the #Jets or #Bills -
Tyrod Taylor to start Week 2 preseason

Cassel has less tricks and is also easy to stop by most NFL teams. -
Tyrod Taylor to start Week 2 preseason
jletha replied to Beef Jerky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats true and it remains to be seen but he always has the potential to be dangerous. If his throwing ability/pocket presence is even close to Cassel I think he is the right choice. With the Cassel/Fitz types the safeties play so close because they know the QB can't throw anything over 15 yards and it just crowds everything and the QBs have no way to work around it. TT, I think, will always have the chance to leave the pocket and then space will open up for the McCoy/Watkins/Harvins. -

With Rex naming TT the starter against Cleveland how are you so positive Cassel has that big of a lead? Based on yesterday I think TT got himself just about even or close to it. If he does well he could easily get the nod as the starter week 1. Cassel did exactly what you thought he would do and thats what your going to get from him. Honestly both QBs will be limited once game planning for them starts but Ive seen the game planning for a Cassel-type before with Fitz and Orton. It is brutal and they can't do anything about it. The game planning for TT is more difficult and opens up opportunities for our game breakers. -
My prediction: It's going to be Tyrod.
jletha replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Tyrod has a real shot but there was one play that got me worried. It was like 3rd and 8, he scrambled and took his eyes off of downfield. Ended up running out of bounds for 3 yards. I know it's preseason and he's not gonna risk it now but those are the type of things that running QBs screw up. The running thing can get tiresome if it's at the wrong times and at the expense of more yards consistently. Either way if he plays well with the 1s against CLE I think he's got it -

He doesn't really say anything negative about EJ here. He's talking about the DB/WR battle. Literally nothing about the throw is mentioned -

Yea will he run when we need 12 yards or will he stay focused? Situation awareness needs to be there. -

I don't think its ideal but given what we have, it seems like a good option for this year. -

Who remembers last year when we had to justify the fact that we never scored a TD all preseason. Not this year -

I am in no way saying I am in love with him. He just looked very Cassely. Competent at least -
