  1. I have to leave in about ten minutes to take my youngest daughter (Pebbles) to the airport. She is going to Florida for vacation. I just hope I do not get blocked by the motorcade or Secret Service. Her plane is scheduled to leave at the same time that AF1 leaves! I will report back if anything of interest happens!
  2. Even better, why Godfather I & II but not III? If I was to pick The Fly, it would be Vincent Price (195?), not Jeff Goldlum (1986)! LOTR was one story, one quest - designed to be released as three installments of one film. Star Wars, at the time it was filmed, was meant to be standalone.
  3. I have seen 28 for sure. On MY top 100: Wizard of Oz The Longest Day The Day the Earth Stood Still Labyrinth Field of Dreams Silverado I could go on, but we all have our favorites.... This is just two guys opinion.
  4. 1 A New Hope (the only movie that can stand alone) 2 The Empire Strikes Back 3 Return of the Jedi 4 Revenge of the Sith - very decent prequel to A New Hope (but very tired of Yoda's schtick, I am) These two were video games with soundtracks and some dialogue, not movies IMO: The Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones BTW: Saw ROTS Saturday afternoon and the theatre was only about 20% full. It is worth seeing again, especially at a matinee price!
  5. Thanks Jay. Next time the WNYTBDGPS gets together your late is on me.
  6. Sadly, if you are a crook, that actually IS your excuse for taking advantage of them. Who are you going to target, the smart and careful?
  7. I just realized that with all the abbrevions for the Star Wars chapters, this will not look good. In order: TPM AOTC ROTS ANH TESB ROTJ Sorry, I could not resist. Babyrock is coming home from Brooklyn and asked me to go see ROTS with her tomorrow. May you all be blessed with kids who are Bills fans and look forward to going to see movies like the X-Men, LOTR, and Star Wars with you when they grow up. When I was young, the first SF movie that reallly got to me was The Day the Earth Stood Still. It was on the Friday late movie on TV. In the theatres, the first SF movie that blew me away was the first Planet of the Apes - the ending rocked (the sequels sucked)! Later it was 2001: A Space Odyssey - how could you lose with Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke? It was not until Lucas did Star Wars that another SF movie really hit the right chords within me. There were times I laughed out loud at the dramatic comedy of it all. A combination of Flash Gordon, Errol Flynn, and unbelievable special effects in a true space opera. TESB and ROTJ were not bad. Tomorrow will be fun!
  8. You read this far into a thread about a movie you think sucks, to add "I concur"? Pete, feel the Force. Go outside and take a walk.
  9. Hey, JSP, I am "Rockpile" not "Doc Pile", remember? All your dark secrets can be published (what are they again?)!
  10. You can sometimes save by combining home and cars on the same policy or getting an "umbrella" but I am not an expert at all.
  11. These riders can be very expensive and you better have very good documentation to back up the claim that your copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 actually exists, AND is worth $40,000 or more! interesting auction
  12. The same people who think they have a better chance to win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes if they buy some magazines!
  13. Just wondering, what kind of movies do you like? I did like the original Star Wars movie, thought the next two sequels were "ok", and have little interest in what is out there now. I like watching lots of moves, but own very few.
  14. I think it would be easier if you just made an effort not to READ any reviews for a week after the opening. Oh, that's right... you have no self control!
  15. Really. You KNOW it was Travis Henry!
  16. He said, "Please". Sheesh.
  17. Behind a push lawnmower. Behind R. Rich at an 'all you can eat' buffet.
  18. This is a very key point. I really like Schobel, but he always seems to try to outrun the OL around the corner, so good offenses just LET him run outside and deep, as the pocket flows inward and forward, allowing either a run up the middle or ample time for the QB to pass. He needs to go to the school of BRUUUUUCE and work on that signature inside spin move. Sack City!
  19. Congratulations, Grandma!
  20. If calling the parents does not work, the teacher is screwed. I was called more than once about my kids (I have four), but never more than once for the same kid/situation! I always it made it very clear on the first parent / teacher night that if there was a problem, call me and I will make sure my child knows who is in charge. It's not a matter of beatings either, it is a matter of BEING THE PARENT. I do not want a teacher taping my kids mouth shut, or tying them up; give me call and you will never have to resort to that.
  21. It was very difficult but priceless. By the 4th loss, many of the barnacle fans had been already detached, and people would ask how you could still be wearing Bills colors. The only satisfaction at the time was that the Fish were watching the game on TV. Me? I waited to pick up my sweat shirts, jerseys, and general memorabilia, AFTER the SB when it was on mega-sale. Got a lot of good stuff dirt cheap. Those were great years: bittersweet memories and astounding seasons. I will not be satisfied until they win it all, but I loved those days.
  22. So, for anyone who never saw the movie - there's the ending!
  23. I would like to see Arthur C. Clarke's 3001: The Final Odyssey which is quite entertaining! Office Space had a few laughs, but (for me) was not a keeper.
