  1. TD puts ketchup on his fried bolgna sandwich.
  2. Ah, if I only still had hair like Ted Nugent. I'd still be one beer short, but I would have a nice mane.
  3. Why, the VI stands for Village Idiot not six (since he knew the answer and I did not that makes me what?).
  4. TD suspended 'Chappelle's Show' indefinitely
  5. I am glad she is doing what she enjoys.
  6. Corporate Amerca is all about T&A. Professional cheerleaders are glorified bootie shakers. I do not argue that. But my two girls had great experiences as cheerleaders. They learned team work, dance, tumbling, gymnastics, and part of the deal was they had to have decent grades, stay out of trouble, and show up for school if they wanted to participate. Monday through Friday: school, snack, cheer practice until 9PM, come home and have supper, do homework, sleep. Then practice for 4 hours on Saturday. This was THEIR choice so they must have enjoyed it. In addition to cheerleading, one daughter was in marching band, basketball, and color guard. The other was in fast pitch softball. BOTH were in the National Honor Society and received college scholarships. One graduated college with honors and is working on her master's degree in elementary ed. I will admit that they did not start cheering in 4th grade, they were dancing then, which is also a parent money trap! True, don't they cover NASCAR?
  7. That is so incorrect I do not even know where to start. So I won't.
  8. Were you notified of any late fees in writing? If there is that great a penalty, it should be very clear! The coach is a tactless %$&^(*& - there were better ways to pass the buck. Any organization worth belonging to (IMO) will waive the fee once, if you talk it over with the president calmly. I had two daughters in cheerleading and it gets ridiculously expensive. They loved it and worked hard at it though. They also did not start until junior high. My youngest continued right into college. It basically comes down to how much she likes it, and benefits from it. Is it worth it to argue the $50 (you already have a lot more than that invested) if it is going to put her on the squad's sh-- list? Is it worth it to have her dropped from the squad because you are "right"? Are there other cheerleading teams that might interest her? Keep in mind I am not suggesting you try to reason with a 4th grader, been there! Basically this is one of those "life is not fair" things and you have to decide the best course for your daughter. Good luck, this is the "sucky" side of parenting.
  9. Add the summer sun, a few pink flamingos for ambiance, and a chair by the pool, and I KNOW I am home.
  10. I have been ignoring it but today TD made me read this entire thread from the beginning. Then he put a tennis ball up my plug hole. Woo!
  11. The Peter Principle has not been kind to you. Sounds like your options are to find another job or start intentionally being less competent, and try to get more assignments with the lap dancer. .
  12. My job is a lot like yours, except I would omit the words "very", "adore my boss", and "private office". I am part of a great group of people, who were sold off to a smaller company that pays the same, but has a LOT less benefits. 26 years vested and I had to take a pension buy-out. But on the positive side, the pay does not suck, the work is not difficult, I have the pension money to drop into retirement money, and I plop every dime I can into my 401K. One day they will dump my department, but until then, why sweat it? Life is good.
  13. Just a question, CTW: Is poligamy considered against federal law, or is it decided by all 50 states? Wouldn't that be an example of the fed being involved in civil law? Can Mormons have more than one wife? Actually, I decided to Google it myself, (GG appreciates the support ) and found that it seems to be unlawful at the state AND federal level. But it is only a misdemeanor in Alaska! Really. source: polygamy Jeez, all I wanted to do is plant my own herb garden and look where this conversation has gone.
  14. Paul Anka will be on Letterman tonight, no stevestojan!
  15. Happy Birthday, Triangle!
  16. When I was kid, we must have played my parents' copy of the 45 "Diana" (1957) about a million times! I wish I had all of those records from the 50's, when my folks were in their twenties. It would be interesting to see where they were at, back in their wilder times!
  17. Really, who do I think I am anyway!?
  18. I am doing great. I quit smoking pot when I started doing D.A.R.E. Walks with my kids. It seemed like the right thing. No withdrawl symptoms. Now, quitting cigarette smoking, THAT was a B word!
  19. Sounds to me like you just crapped a golden answer. WOO-HOO! How many days to the opener Badol?
  20. Yes, that would be us! Had any garbage plates since last summer?
  21. One of the medications I used to take for MS warned that if I was considering suicide, I should contact my doctor immediately. It required skin popping a drug that I had to mix myself, and was like taking an IV of the flu. It took almost three months to build a tolerance to the side effects. Another med I take now for anxiety and stress has made me a drug addict, and it will be a long and difficult withdrawal some day. I am not a regular pot smoker now, but back when I smoked a few hits every evening, I NEVER considered suicide, was not addicted, and the worse side effect was giggling at stupid things, understanding the words to that song from Pink Floyd's Umma Gumma (you know the one I mean), and a bad case of the munchies. Now THOSE are serious side effects.
  22. Great story, Steve. Don't listen to all the jealous bastids who wish THEY had asked JP how he pronounced his name, heh. I look forward to meeting you at the home opener, or maybe a preseason Garbage plate.
  23. First appearance of Spidey is on-line at Amazing Fantasy #15 Do not let the August publication date fool you, all comics and periocials were (and some still are) dated three months "later" to improve shelf life. Comics were sold then in drug stores, mom and pop groceries, etc. I remember being mad in 1962 when they went from a dime to 12 cents.
  24. On Memorial Day, most of the miltary was in the parade in downtown Rochester, but I was in Fairport with the grandchildren. They knew why Memorial Day was observed (my daughter has been doing home school for 5 years). Whenever a Veterans Post marched by with their colors displayed, baseball caps came off as we paid respect to those who died so we could be free. I salute ALL veterans, living and dead, for their sacrifice and service.
  25. Oh, do not worry, HILLARY will save us!
