  1. Those rankings were wrong, then. In terms of their abilities at their respective positions and their overall impact on the game, RG3 and Luck were certainly better than Richardson and (injured for most of the season) Decastro. That being said, I think it was the consensus last year that RG3 and Luck were truly special QB talents, unlike anyone coming out this year.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOLEMyMkDdU This is potentially meaningless, but I am a big fan of ESPN's Sport Science and found this interesting.
  3. I can see St. Louis trading up for an OT. I'd trade 8 for 16, 46, and 78.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1f2_CFMi6Q If available in the second, and the scouts determine a need at SS, I'd love Cyprien
  5. I'm pretty sure Manuel will be drafted in the second half of the first. I expect a team to trade up to, say, Minnesota or St. Louis' second pick for him. That's correct. I believe the list of invited players is incomplete; as you note, T'eo was reported to have been invited. However, I do think the players noted as invited were, in fact, invited to the draft, though it's unclear who has confirmed attendance. As I said, it's more valuable for who was allegedly invited- Manuel- rather than who apparently was not- Barkley, Jordan, Richardson, etc. Here's last year's list: http://www.cbssports...to-attend-draft I'm not sure if any changes have been made this year to invite players expected to be second round picks. Last year, expecting Kuechly, the league was pretty on point with invites; Randle, Glenn, Upshaw, and Still appear to be the only guys who weren't drafted in the first (all were second-round picks). Notably, the league invited Hightower, who ended up being drafted higher than originally slotted by most media draft boards. For me, this year's surprise (assuming the list is true) is that Margus Hunt was invited.
  6. The other players invited to attend, according to the source, are: Texas A&M offensive tackle,Luke Joeckel, Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel, Alabama guard Chance Warmack, Florida State defensive end Bjoern Werner, North Carolina guard Jonathan Cooper, Florida defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, Oklahoma offensive tackle Lane Johnson, BYU defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro, Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker, Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher, Florida State offensive tackle Menelik Watson, Tennessee wide receiverCordarrelle Patterson, Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes, West Virginia wide receiver Tavon Austin, SMU defensive end Margus Hunt, LSU defensive end Barkevious Mingo and Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner. Source: http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2013/story/_/id/9128668/geno-smith-west-virginia-mountaineers-harsh-nfl-draft-scouting-report-untrue Manuel is invited to attend, while Barkley is not. Among the conspicuously missing are Jarvis Jones, Dion Jordan, Sheldon Richardson, and Tyler Eifert. I've read other (less verifiable reports) stating that Eifert was invited to the draft. The real news, then, is that Manuel was invited; I suspect the list of invited players is incomplete, but we can be sure that the above players are expected to be first-round picks. It'll be interesting to see what this means for Manuel's actual draft stock in the eyes of GMs.
  7. Wikipedia, for a moment, had him listed as "American football defensive tackle for the Toronto Argonaughts (sic) of the National Football League." I laughed. Anyway, on the surface, this appears to be a good signing.
  8. There really isn't much redeeming value to the site, other than being a moderately fun distraction. The draft pick values and player rankings are both completely off, defining the term "mock draft."
  9. This is completely unrealistic with an absurd big board; Ertz and Eifert aren't both second round prospects, and Manuel isn't going in the fifth, for starters. I had: Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 22 (STL): Ezekiel Ansah, DE, Brigham Young (A) Round 2 Pick 5 (CINN): Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame (A) Round 2 Pick 9: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson (B+) Round 2 Pick 10 (MIA): Jonathan Cyprien, SS, Florida International (A) Round 2 Pick 22 (MIA): Arthur Brown, OLB, Kansas State (A) Round 3 Pick 9: Kyle Long, OT, Oregon (B) Round 3 Pick 15 (MIA): Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse (A) Round 4 Pick 8: Shamarko Thomas, SS, Syracuse (A) Round 4 Pick 26 (SEA): EJ Manuel, QB, Florida State (A) Round 5 Pick 5 (SEA): Khaled Holmes, C, Southern California (A-) Round 5 Pick 25 (SEA): Kenjon Barner, RB, Oregon (B+) Round 6 Pick 26 (SEA): Anthony McCloud, DT, Florida State (A) Round 7 Pick 8 (SEA): Brandan Bishop, FS, North Carolina State (A) Round 7 Pick 14 (SEA): Caleb Sturgis, K, Florida (A)
  10. http://www.profootballweekly.com/2011/03/29/cam-newton-scouting-report Above is Nawrocki's scouting report on Newton.
  11. Colt is the complete opposite of his brother, then.
  12. Deadspin and KSK (two great blogs) have constant updates on Cutler's being a douche. Cam likes the spotlight more- I think Cutler hates being a celebrity, despite his marriage to a reality television personality- and also seems to be a "me-first guy."
  13. Kolb probably came cheap. Thirteen million dollars over two years isn't terrible, and we don't know what the floor for his contract numbers is. I'd rather draft a QB next year, and it looks like the coaching staff feels that way; Kolb had a poor o-line, and while I have low expectations, it will be interesting to see what happens if we can get him some weapons. I'm in favor of an offense-heavy draft without the QB, unless the scouts really like someone they see.
  14. +1 for noticing the inability of certain posters to compare black QBs to white QBs when it comes to ability or personality. If anything, Newton's personality reminds me of Cutler's; I see Geno Smith as being introverted like Eli, though perhaps with more negative aspects.
  15. You are making comparisons for their own sake. I don't think this draft is particularly good, but Locker is known for being an athletic, but inaccurate and raw QB, while Barkley had strong production in college despite average physical measurables. Ponder is also significantly faster and more athletic than Nassib, but didn't produce as much and has a weaker downfield arm.
  16. Patterson is raw, hasn't produced, and apparently fared poorly in interviews. He won't be picked in the top ten.
  17. By Bell, I believe you mean "Berry," as in Eric Berry.
  18. CB Derek Cox a Charger
  19. Cleveland has new management and coaching, Sanchez is awful, and Palmer might get cut. Each of those teams could draft a QB in the first, as could Philly.
  20. Since when do the Jets, Browns, and Raiders have "franchise QBs"?
  21. I never said he "sucks." He's not in the same category as players like Fred and, particularly, Byrd, who is one of the best at his positions. Thanks for your sarcasm, though.
  22. Polian's list was awful. He didn't even have guys like Shaun Philips, Fred Davis, Sean Smith, Michael Bennett. Derek Anderson was a "B." That was a lazy and poor job.
  23. He's an unskilled, unproductive malcontent. No thanks.
  24. Chandler is a below-average starter. He's a fine player, but the numbers don't lie.
