  1. Maybe Manti Te'o has declined but I guarantee ESPN finds a way to get him there, the ratings will probably double if he's in attendance.
  2. Actually footballoutsiders.com says the most similar player to Branch from 09-11 is Larry Tripplett from 04-06.
  3. Yeah it sucks to think about but the almighty dollar is the one constant motivator for all pro athletes. It happens more in the NBA because the contracts are guaranteed and there's only so much you can slack off in the NFL without worrying about getting injured. But every year there are NBA players that put up huge numbers in a contract year only to fall off a cliff after getting the long term deal. But I'm not sure I see the minuses for the team in signing someone to a 1 year deal except I guess if he has a great year and someone else offers him more than we can pay next offseason. Other than that, here's a year lets see what you got son!
  4. Nice, thanks for giving me a way to kill my last hour at work haha. They are way too low on EJ Manuel though, in 3 drafts I did he was still there in the 5th. No way he slides that far.
  5. Liked the signing, was definitely the best we could do without giving up a pick. A bunch of people freaked out at the 2 yr/13 mill but that's with incentives, the actual cap hit is certainly much lower than 6.5 mill per year. Totally agree about the O-line and running game being terrible so its unfair to judge him solely on what he did in AZ. Normally I think James Walker from ESPN is a clown but he made a good point in a post today about how he got sacked 57 times in 15 games with the Cards and Fitz only had 30 in 16 starts last season.
  6. Did you watch the Senior Bowl? I know its just one exhibition game but Ansah was by far the most dominant player on the field. In a draft with no sure fire blue chip studs I would be fine with taking the guy with the most upside even if he hasn't played football that long. We have plenty of evidence now that shows that doesn't really matter.
  7. Great points about the O-linemen. So many dumb writers have us taking Johnson or Warmack and really there is no way that is happening, especially Warmack. A guard at #8 really?? He would have to be the greatest ever to justify going that high. You talk about Buddy like he has complete control over who gets picked, are we sure that's the case? It kinda seems like they're fazing him out and Whaley in and just keeping Buddy around for all the scouting he has done on this class. I have no idea, maybe Buddy will have the authority I'm just wondering if anyone knows.
  8. Looks like Arizona is getting Carson Palmer, and with Oakland getting Flynn there's a legitimate chance that no QB will be taken in the top 7 picks. Unlikely but it kinda seems like everyone of these teams including the Bills are trying to do what the Seahawks did last year - sign a QB, then pick one later in the draft and hope he pans out.
  9. Just a little sophomore slump, don't forget the dude only just turned 23 a couple weeks ago. He went from playing for Nick Saban to Gailey and Wannstedt, its no wonder he fell a little out of shape. A hard nosed guy like Pettine will get this guy playing at his full potential, you have to think he and Kyle were a big reason why he decided to come here.
  10. I'd much rather just sign Kolb than trade a pick for Flynn. There is a chance (albeit a small one) that Kolb is actually decent, you can't really judge him on last year because the Cards o-line was so bad. I mean even Chris Kelsay was able to get a safety against them haha. I don't know much about the guy but I don't think that we can go into the season with Aaron Corp as our 3rd stringer, plus are we even sure Tarvaris is a legit backup? Its not so much that we need "mentors" for whoever we draft but rather just decent competition for training camp and practices.
  11. I'd much rather have Barkley or Manuel coming off a year of NFL experience than putting all our hopes on QB "X" from the 2014 draft.
  12. I'm really starting to think EJ's gonna be the pick at #8. Especially when I heard he was invited to the opening night of the draft, it feels like he's gonna be Jake Locker or Christian Ponder two years ago - guys that everyone thought were going to be taken in the 2nd or later and all of a sudden around draft day you start hearing rumors then both end up going 8th and 12th respectively. Plus he really seems like a Buddy pick (assuming he's still calling shots on draft day) - from the Southeast, multiple productive years in college, good student, etc. I'd be thrilled with either him or Barkley, Geno would be cool but it would scare me if all the teams ahead of us pass on him and no one wants to trade up for him. However the first 7 picks play out, is there seriously any way we don't take a QB with the 8th pick?? It appears the FO has made the QB search priority #1, given all these QB workouts and our lack of action in FA.
  13. Saying there hasn't been any good QBs from USC is such a stupid argument, name a good QB from Tennessee before Peyton Manning or one from Purdue before Drew Brees, etc.
  14. No chance. You really think they'd spend 7-8 million, almost half our cap space, on a position that isn't one of the top needs???
  15. They have to wait to get good bargains because they have the resignings of Spiller and Byrd comming up. We'd be unlikely to keep both if we went on a spending spree now.
  16. Its completely ridiculous how many people are so sure there are no "franchise" or starting quarterbacks in this draft just because there's no Luck, RG3 or Cam. No one thought Kaepernick or Russell Wilson were going to be and look how they turned out. You put a guy in the right system and the right environment to succeed and you hope for the best. That's all we can do in our situation unless you think we should wait to go 2-14 and draft one in the first couple picks but as far as I can tell there probably won't be any sure fire studs next year either. We have to take a QB somewhere in the first two rounds and see what Marrone can do with him. I'm not saying he's Jim Harbaugh or anything but that is the main reason the 49ers went from 6-10 to the Super Bowl two years later. Personally I hope its either Barkley or Geno but if Marrone wants to go with Nassib or whoever else he likes I'd be totally behind that too.
  17. Wow the Pats are so cheap they wouldn't even beat 2 yrs/$12M for Brady's favorite target who has at least 2 good years left! I agree with Pittsburgh letting Wallace go, he's not worth what Miami's paying but Welker's definitely worth $6M especially for the Patriots. If I was a NE fan I'd be so pissed right now but as a Bills fan this is absolutely wonderful news!
  18. People seem to forget that we have quite possibly the most electrifying player in the entire league! And he's only 25! CJ's going for 2000 next year I'm calling it.
  19. Stevie's pushing for Darrius Heyward-Bey to the Bills: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/13/stevie-johnson-wants-darrius-heyward-bey-in-buffalo/ He's no Jennings or Wallace, but I think he'd be a good fit and is pretty much what we're looking for in a WR (tall and fast) and I don't think we'd have to break the bank for him.
  20. Yeah, forgot about that apple thing. If they could avoid any legal trouble after leaking pics and info of a stolen iphone prototype, which could have actually been damaging to the company (unlike this situation), no way they're going down for this.
  21. Gawker Media is worth hundreds of millions of dollars so its safe to say that they too have a team of powerful high priced lawyers who specialize in fighting these kinds of things. I doubt the NFL will want to invest that much money and effort fighting them especially because this story will pretty much be forgotten once free agency starts in a couple minutes.
  22. Agreed, let some other team spend 8 mil per yr on a guard. The Bucs signed Nicks for around that price last year and not only did he not make a big impact, they actually played better (or at least Doug Martin did) after he got hurt. Only having around 19 mil in cap space it would be foolish to spend that much on a position where the drop off from an 8 mil guy to a 1 mil guy is not that big.
  23. For all we know they could be somewhere in China and I'm sure Deadspin had their legal team examine this thoroughly to make sure they and their source aren't liable. All I'm saying is that if you are thinking that these guys and/or deadspin will be facing charges, don't get your hopes up.
  24. To everyone saying that these "pranksters" are going to get arrested or whatever: unless these guys were stupid enough to use one of their own cell phones and not a prepaid, they won't be able to be traced. Also I would hope that the FBI has better things to do than start a manhunt for a couple of harmless prank callers.
  25. I'm not sure if they did but if they used a prepaid cell phone, I'm pretty sure there would be no way of finding them other than asking deadspin who most likely wouldn't give up their source.
