Kids day game Saturday is sold out
ganesh replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't this the game where the Bills decided to run a no-huddle offense and really blew up on their face and one of the Steelers defensive player told after the game that may be the Bills should huddle to let the clock run out!!!! Ouch! -
That!

The onside kick and recovery in the Comeback game was a great play...Steve drilled it so well and Pike recovers! And even the Bills offense did not know about it as Reich would describe it later....
-
Rich Gannon has been a refreshing change the past few years. Pretty insightful as opposed to some of the ex-QB-wannabe broadcasters... How come there is no Steve Tasker doing Bills games?
-
I understand what you say. Unfortunately, no one else wanted the Bills Job 2-seasons ago, in spite of Mr. Wilson willing to open up his check book.

Other obvious misfires: 1. Retaining Edwards as DC (or hiring him in the 1st place) 2. Toying with Levitre at LT and Center 3. Horrible 2nd half adjustments on game day. 4. Non-use of Brad Smith for an entire season after paying him a 15M contract 5. Inability to find that 2nd WR after Donald Jones went down (Kept claiming that his scheme doesn't need a real 2nd WR) And to strengthen your argument....Wade Phillips took over a horrible Houston defense and turned it into a top-5 defense...Mario played 5 games and had 5 sacks and after Mario departed, they still did not miss a beat. You really need an experienced DC to run the 3-4 and Edwards cannot even hold his JockStrap to a Phillips or Capers...We could have had Romeo Crennel last year, but Gailey refused to fire Edwards...and we continued to have a mediocre run defense.

On one hand every body blasts the Bills for not doing anything in the Preaseason and procrastinating that we will be doomed and on the other hand we want them to shut down and show NOTHING. Where do the Bills stand?

Kevin Gilbride and Mike Mularkey are established OC in the NFL for a long time. It would be foolish to say that they did not know how to use Evans (their main receiver) in their schemes. Lee could play only the long ball as was evident with him connecting with Bledsoe first and then later with Losman. Unfortunately for him, he did not have a complimentary WR or a good consistent QB to make those long plays count, except for that one year when he had Peerless Price and Bledsoe (and the coordinator was Kevin Gilbride).

Good point. Never understood that move...unless Nix thinks McGee as the leader on the defense (like the Kelsay signing). If so, then McGee will be on the 53 man roster.

Seahawks talking to teams about QB T.Jackson
ganesh replied to Drewgetz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Jackson is J.P. Losman II. He has no presence in the field and cannot feel the pressure. To make it worse, his accuracy is very questionable. Vince Young is way better than any of these guys, but has different issues. -
If you could go back in time and watch any Bills game live

The 31-0 Season opener against the Patriots about 10 seasons ago....Tom Brady took a beating on that day with the newly built defense....That defense was ferocious that Sunday afternoon. -
He kicked our sorry A** in the 1st quarter last year!!!!! Romo is a good QB and I would love to have him as the Bills Starter any day. The problem is that unlike the "Jimmy Johnson" Dynasty, the Cowboys have never given Romo a good team to back him up. When you put the game on the shoulders of the QB without much supporting cast, you are likely to be the scape goat for many of the failures. The cowboys defense is just plain horrible. It just goes to show that who really built that team in the 90s.

A Good rhythm first team offense (Balanced Run/Pass) A glimpse of how our first team defense will stop the run A win - I understand that the super-bills lost most of their pre-season games. But that is because they knew what to do in the regular season. Unlike those teams, this team is young and new and needs to smell that win. A win always makes it feel good. What is "Dominant defensive performance"....Ends don't rush passers in the pre-season (especially the starters).

Stevie asserting himself as a team leader...

Isn't that the ultimate goal ? -
You don't have to Yell. We can all read it.

Peter King's writeup on RGIII's night
ganesh replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought some of the starters were replaced by back ups in that 3rd series. -
The best part of the night was what we did to the jets

The 3rd preseason game gives a good idea of how this team is going to look. Game 1 is all about figuring out who is good on your 80 man roster. Game 1 exposed our weakness...Depth on the OL. We are thin on talent at the LB group. Our WRs did nothing today. THey were not helped by the backup QBs. -
Interesting tidbit regarding Wannstedt.

That! -
Then why do they time the college kids on a 40 yard dash at the Combine?
-
Agree 100%. I hope Buddy's moves this year will turn this team around. The only reason it has taken them 3 years is that it is hard for this team (deprived of any talent) to fill that many holes in one season. He needed two seasons to fix the OL and DL including depth at those positions. However, there has been quite a few questionable calls during his tenure. 1. Switching to a 3-4 defense when we had cover-2 personnel. Fitting a square peg in a circular hole 2. Picking Spiller in the 1st round. They could have still had Best in the 2nd round if they needed a RB. 3. Picking Troupe, Carrington, Wang and a big question mark on this years 3rd round pick. However, I would rather give him a B+ for getting good FA to actually sign with the Bills. The Merriman signing is more like to get other FAs to sign with the team.
