  1. That's exactly what I was about to post about your reply! I do not think the cops are out to kill black people. I do not think the cops involved in the most recent incidents were out to kill black people. While I've been skeptical and reluctant to accept this perspective, its become increasingly difficult to dismiss the idea that these situations play out differently for whites and blacks. I'm finding it more difficult to believe that the situation in Minnesota escalates similarly for whites and blacks. Again for the slow kids in the back, I'm not suggesting systematic racism. I think there are other less nefarious factors which could explain why that may be the case. A quick glance at the crime statistics, which we are all generally aware of here and law enforcement is certainly aware of, could certainly cause a cop to be more on edge when apprehending a black suspect relative to a white suspect (perhaps that's just good police work in assessing relative risk). Anecdotes from the black community (no I'm not basing this solely on Chappelle's Killing them Softly and movies like Menace II Society, just 75%) tell a story of fear and mistrust of the police, whereas the white community generally doesn't fear the police. I certainly do not fear the police. My experiences with law enforcement have been very positive, which is why I've been reluctant to accept the idea which I'm now describing. If both sides of the equation are more fearful, edgy, and have less trust, bad outcomes are more likely. The narrative that has captured the media's attention so often over the past 18 months of trigger happy cops killing blacks and subsequent retaliations is furthering a cycle of fear and mistrust. I view it as a positive feedback loop that can operate completely independent of racism and evil cops. And now time for the bad analogy: I'll compare the arrest scenario to a person encountering a big dog like a german shepherd. Lets say the person in the equation grew up in the burbs in a house where you kiss the dog on the mouth and your wife on the cheek. That man is definitely not scared of the big dog even though it could totally f@#$ him up. In turn the dog is calm and walks over for a pat on the head and a belly rub. Now if the person grew up in the house with tales of vicious german shepherds (the original pitbull), that man sees the dog coming and is scared or nervous. The dog can sense it, which in turn heightens the dog's attention. The dog is now uneasy and it shows in the body language, making the person who was already on edge much more concerned. And now the dog is freaked out and its barking, and the person is getting ready to fend off the increasingly aggressive dog, and on it goes until the guy gets bit.
  2. Except for those birds. Those birds will be eaten tomorrow. How water and snow!
  3. He's black and you're satire/sarcasm illiterate. As for me, well this white guy is beginning to worry that the number of negroes being shot by the police is suspiciously high. While I've heard allegations for many years that minorities have less favorable experiences with law enforcement relative to their white counterparts, it wasn't until a few such instances were captured on video that the issue caught my attention. Much like domestic violence, you don't really know that its happening and understand that its a serious problem until you see Ray Rice punching his then fiancé. I find these most recent instances in Baton Rouge and Minnesota particularly concerning. But then again, I am one of the good ones.
  4. Isn't Cian Fahey just Chan Gailey's drunk alter ego?
  5. Yes. This is TBD not the 4H club. A certain measure of decorum is expected, you jerk.
  6. I think we can all agree that some people may share opinions similar to those raised in the aforementioned post. You're the Dick Jauron of comprehending TBD trolling.
  7. I hope she isn't also part of your guild of warriors or wood trolls or elf clan. As the old proverb goes, don't s@#$ where you roll the 27 sided die.
  8. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/07/06/maine-man-dies-after-launching-fireworks-from-his-head/ Current on the issues, I see.
  9. LET THE MAN TALK!!! His words and new age ideas might upset the lot of you thin skinned nancies and offend your small town, Midwestern sensibilities but Joe has a right to be heard AND deserves his day in court. Its easy to bandy about isnults from the safety of your computers, but back in the day, a man accusing Joe of drunkenness, lies, trolling, schizophrenia, and general mental deficiency might have to face him in single combat or have you all forgotten duel process?
  10. I'm calling bullshragulations since I'm pretty sure this LAMP is a steaming pile of mike malarkey but if its actually true, congrats I guess.
  11. Did you get an autograph? Pretty sure that guy was a drummer in Spinal Tap.
  12. Petty crime and training for football?
  13. I think that's exactly what many people are arguing. Goodwin was already a bubble player. Prioritizing another sport over the one that pays his bills has definitely hurt his chances of making the team. Training for another sport has definitely hurt his chances of making this football team.
  14. That's where you lost me. I'll never understand that sentiment. Why do you hold Glass to a higher standard than your own wife? He might not even have known she was married. If anything, kill her not the random guy.
  15. Also Maddox was entering the year as the starter until he went down in week 2 and Big Ben proved to be a capable starter. These 2nd and 3rd string scrubs weren't as bad as people make them out to be. The Bills came out flat and Bledsoe had nothing for them.
  16. MNF against Dallas. That game inspired in me a visceral reaction of disgust, anger, and bitterness which stuck with me for a few days. That was the first time a sporting event that I didn't participate in effected me like that. MNF against Cleveland. Trent's first half INT fest and Lindell's wide right with time expiring. That stadium was silent afterward and on the walk out of the stadium all you could hear was shuffling feet. It was an eerie, awful atmosphere. Season opener on TNF, Roscoe's fumble against New England and Brady's two identical TD's to Ben Watson right over Whitner's head. Losman's naked bootleg and fumble recovery for the game winning TD when a punt would have basically sealed the game. These four losses define the Bills playoff drought and slump. Choking away games and seizing defeat.
  17. I also made the move from WNY to Houston about a year ago and I too am impressed with Whataburger. Chick Fil A is growing on me but at first I didn't get the hype. Do you go to Christian's Tailgate on gamedays during the season?
  18. I'm doing nothing of the sort. I'm not the one blathering on about how I can't get it up anymore and the light in my eyes has dulled because my football team is mediocre. The attitudes expressed in this thread are a downer. I swear that you don't even read the posts you respond to or make any attempt to understand them in context. You enter a thread with your posts already planned and then pick one at random to quote. You should really consider changing your handle to Promo The Strawman.
  19. So this Lao Tzu guy, he was basically the Jack Handy of his day??
  20. "It was neither, dumbass." - Samuel Clemens
  21. ""You miss 100% of the shots you dont take" - Wayne Gretzky" - Michael Scott
  22. Wait....That's not Karlos?
  23. This thread is depressing. All of your emotions are ugly and weak.
  24. Its all smoke and mirrors with him. Nothing is as it seems.
  25. How is another losing season and hiring a new coach, with a new scheme, requiring new personnel a success? How many more threads on this supposed ultimatum do we need? This is the worst of the bunch.
