You've made some great points and framed them well (except that whole thing about being favorites over NE). What you fail to realize is that the Fitz Kool-Aid is 180 proof, and apparently more addicting than heroin. You're not going to convince that crowd. I used to think the biggest mistake this regime made was switching to the 3-4 when we didn't have that personnel for it. I was wrong. They hitched their wagon to the wrong horse, and it looks like they are stubborn enough to go down with the ship.

You want your QB to strike fear in the opposing defense, not the hometown fans. When Fitz rears back and loads up for a long throw everyone in the room has a look of sheer terror on their face. It also looks like the rest of the team is finally starting to lose confidence in him. We're starting to see some head-shaking and arm-flailing from Stevie and Freddie on some of his errant throws. I give them props for sticking by their guy, but it looks like they are hitting the breaking point.
-
That is a very accurate assessment of Fitz's play over the past 14 games. Our schemes now have to be designed to prevent our own QB from hurting us. It's time for management and coaching to drop this stubbornness. It wasn't his ribs last year, in case anyone was still wondering....

Patriots @ Bills 9/30/2012 Game Thread
QCity replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
31 points scored against us in the 4th quarter. wow..... -
I consider players like Tavaris Jackson to be a backup and Thigpen to be an insurance policy - players that never go in unless there is an injury. Spiller shares time with Jackson. Now that percentage is going to vary based on performance - maybe 50/50, 66/33, 25/75, whatever. My point is our coaches use a 2-back system to alleviate the beating a single RB takes running the ball 25 times a game. When both guys are healthy you know there is going to be a debate on these boards over who should be the "starter." Well the "starter" in this case is simply who takes the first snap. They both are going to see time depending on who is more effective that particular day.
-
He's not a backup and he's not an insurance policy. The 1-back offense is nearly dead - it's too much punishment to hang on one player. I'm not a fan of drafting RB's early, but if you are still sitting here today claiming Spiller was a bad #1 pick you are insane. McCargo was a bad pick. Maybin was a bad pick. Spiller?

It's pretty hilarious reading some of the old Spiller threads. Both Erik Pears and Chris Hairston have turned out better than Bulaga.

just stop with this stuff. Nix just said he did not ask to be released.
-
After reading the last 2 pages now I'm hoping that he was cut based on his performance....

The timing of this is odd.

I just watched the game again, and that was mediocre MLB play at best. Sorry, but it was. The guy had 2 tackles. Overall the results were good so I won't complain, but MLB continues to be the weak link on this D.

Why is no one giving any love to Chan for the kneeldown?
QCity replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a few have already stated, it had nothing to do with class, it was about strategy. Knee = a win in that situation every single time. -
Your problem is you have wildly unrealistic expectations, or maybe you do not understand what the WC is, in essence. Too many people point to that Miami game where they caught the Patriots off-guard, and now incorrectly believe that result is the benchmark for the WC. The WC is not a base offense - it’s simply a play. It’s no different than calling a RB screen, student body sweep left, off-tackle run, or a WR hitch pattern. It’s not going to “win us a big game all by itself” – it’s asinine to think that way. I think swapping the QB out causes people to expect something magical to happen every time. Here’s the WC on a good day: 4-5 plays, 15-25 yards, 2-3 first downs. That right there would be what I consider a successful day of running the WC. Now, what exactly are your expectations (seriously, I want to hear what people expect)? If the Bills ran 3 screen plays in a game and they all got stuffed, would you make a thread about ditching the screen pass? If you want to argue that Brad Smith is overpaid, then fine - make that argument. He gets $4M a year for being a WC QB, kick returner, emergency QB, 4threceiver, special teams gunner and emergency RB. What should a guy like that make? $3M? That’s not what I consider overpaid. Aaron Maybin, now that is a player that was overpaid.

Time Warner Cable NFL Network Finally make a Deal!!!
QCity replied to FastFreddy22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup, channel 1086. No more online feeds for Thursday games! -
Again, what games are you watching?
-
It's easy to downplay the achievements of someone you hate. I just watched that grab again, Naaman Roosevelt doesn't make that play in his dreams.
-
Soooo true. If you're in the "you don't have to prepare for it" group, you've pretty much just admitted that you have never worn a jock in your life or been in a football practice at any level. Maybe you should open your eyes or sober up when watching? Smith made an amazing catch to keep a drive alive when the game was still close and the offense was sputtering. But like most armchair fans, I guess if it wasn't a TD it didn't matter, right?

Ron Brooks is eligible to return from short-term IR after 6 weeks, which means our Bye week will be the end of the Tyler Thigpen era.

Brad Smith is preventing us from re-signing Lee Evans you fool.

Hah, I had to Google it... There have been two 2-0 games in the NFL: 1) The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 2-0 on October 16, 1932. 2) The Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers 2-0 on September 18, 1938. The difference is that our 2-0 victory this Sunday will occur in overtime, when Cleveland snaps the ball over their punter's head and out of the endzone.

Have we had enough of the Wildcat posts yet?
-
I would be thrilled with a 2-0 win!
-
4-3 at the bye.

Didn't think we'd beat the Jets, although that was a lot worse than expected. I'm still on the 10-6 train. Should be some epic crying this week on the forums.
