  1. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!!
  2. Bowl cut special?
  3. Thanks for sharing this ! Great story. I always appreciate those guys who played football from that era. They often had 2nd jobs or short careers with low pay. Sounds like Preston had a great life after too!
  4. Surprisingly I thought Burrow looked really accurate before the injury on Thursday night. His passes also had some zip on them and he made mostly good decisions. There wasnt even a real moment in that game where it looked like the injury occurred. Sucks for him and the Bengals but that seems to be the way things are going in the NFL these past 2 years. Great players getting injured. So what gives? is it that the most is now the most physically brutal that its ever been? The artificial turf that is the norm in a lot of stadiums (including ours) or that strength and conditioning is not up to the standard? Or is this particular injury for Burrow just freakish?
  5. 100%! Yet another year where we rue multiple losses!
  6. I was thinking how McD gets a lot of love because even though he may not be the one to take use to the promised land, he is still so much better than several in the drought. You cant get worse than arrogant stupidity of Williams, the angry dysfunction of St.Doug, the bumbling ineptitude of Rex or the 1000 yard stare of Dick Jauron!
  7. Jauron I can never compliment or be positive about. There was just too many soul destroying losses under his tenure. The angriest I have ever felt being a Bills fan was the 56-10 Pats loss under Jauron where the Pats just humiliated the Bills and he stood there on the sideline, deer in the headlights frozen. Marrone era actually had some memorable games and also gave us a shot at the playoffs.
  8. Flacco is the stereotype of what good NFL Qbs "used to be". That is a strong performer into his early 30s and then fell off a cliff in terms of quality with Denver and then NYJ. Brady, Brees and Rogers have changed the perception of what a great QB can be in their late 30s but in most of NFL history they have been outliers. Now CLeveland is so desperate they take a look at him after months out of football? That's nuts!
  9. The Steeler loss at the end of that season was another Billsy loss. They were on a roll at the end of that season and played against a team of 2nd and 3rd stringers and somehow managed to screw up their chance! At home no less! Mularkey era was better in parts in retrospect than the Williams, Jauron or Chan tenures but still an embarrassing end.
  10. So Frazier is "hurting" for Dorsey but quickly points out the most boneheaded mistake that Dorsey made which was to limit Josh's running which has led to a predictable offense. He might have wanted to tell him that as a friend a few weeks ago. Or maybe he figured that fact was blindingly obvious and McD and Dorsey would figure it out? Of course they didn't and the fans did.
  11. I think he should have definitely picked up more yards before going down but Gabe is just not that fast. Is Harty the fastest guy on the Bills? He might have been able to to explode out of there. But the throw by Allen is awesome there. This is what makes people think that there is some not right with his shoulder because he is obviously capable of amazingly accurate fastballs like this but then at other times throws up a beachball.
  12. You have to laugh at all these awful traumatic memories. 12th man was just another in a long line of debacles in being a Bills fan. Yes other teams lose games in crushing fashion but no team has had as many crushing, soul destroying losses as the Bills. No fan base has ever had the perfect quadrafecta of pain with bumbling plays, bad officiating, terrible coaching and just bad luck as the Bills. No team has lost 4 straight SB's. No other NFL team lost on a homerun throwback. And all these awful losses without one SB ! I could at least comfort myself if they had won one SB but NO!!
  13. Sal has become a bit too company line in the last 2 years. Aside from that he tends to repeat himself and also doesnt seem to be listening to some of the callers and their questions. Needs to come off his high horse. On a side note he hasnt sounded well the last few times I have heard him on there. He seems to be coughing up a lung. Maybe he's a pack a day smoker but he needs to get that checked out.
  14. Ive wondered all these things but some or most of these could be connected to Dorsey's vanilla offense. If Josh is truly Brett Favre 2.0 then let him loose! Brady now has the reins, so its time to go for broke here. No more conservative, predictable play calls. This offense needs to be pushed to be better and that was never going to happen with Dorsey.
  15. The only difference with Brady was that he wasnt in Carolina when Beane and McD were there. So hopefully there's no nepotism at play here. He did work with Burrow at LSU in their championship season so that's a positive.
  16. I heard this lament often yesterday. The Denver return guy McMillian is one of the best in the league. They seemed to purposely kick in his direction all night!! He burned the Bills twice on returns. So is our punter clueless or are his ST coaches who are supposed to watch film and inform Martin the idiots here? Martin seems to be a low hang time kicker (which explains probably why he was available when Araiza was cut). Why would you get your low hang time kicker to do that? It was reminiscent to the 13 seconds debacle where Bass should have squib kicked to the 5 yard line to waste at least 3 or 4 seconds and supposedly wasnt told or instructed to do so.
  17. Last night McD and Dorsey had a chance to show us how much they prepared for Broncos and studied their strengths and weaknesses. Instead we got another clueless display from both. Now Vanilla Dorsey is gone, but can his replacement do something innovative for next week? I just hope that this coaching staff study some effective ways to beat the Jets with minimum stress? Both the mediocre Chargers and Raiders were able to overcome Salah and his big bad defense with some planning.
  18. Actually I think its both. Josh was terrible last night with the INTS, bad throws and fumbles. His supporting cast was also mediocre to poor. But Dorsey is responsible for scheming guys open, misdirection and the right play call for the situation. That part of his work seems to have completely disappeared or has been inept. Last night was yet another example of the broken system that Dorsey created. There are multiple issues on this Bills team and we just got rid of one of them. There are at least 6 more that I can think of to be tackled: 1. McD and his poor game management 2. McD and his poor defensive game plan 3. McD and his lack of preparation and motivation for the team for the big games 4. The terrible special teams 5. Getting decent replacements for the injured players (Beane!!) 5. The invisible Von Miller The first 3 are glaring. I think McD should be promoting a defensive assistant to be DC ASAP for in game defensive calls. The rest are hard to fix in the short term.
  19. 100% Josh needs to feel guilty for his part in this mess. He can play way better than last night. There's no excuse for that crap as much as Dorsey is culpable for the vanilla offense!
  20. Even as much as I was surprised at how good Wilson was last night, that was the luckiest pass ever. Even the receiver having his toes minutely in bounds was incredibly lucky. There literally was a tiny sliver of grass endzone between the first foot and the sideline. Only the Bills would give up a play like that! Billsy!
  21. Yes, on this team, there is a huge gulf between between high skill level, athleticism and that elusive 3rd factor of experience of knowing what to do and how to win in a high pressure situation. Sadly I think that is connected to the coaching of this team and their culture. The players can trust the process all they want but if they don't truly buy in and/or start to believe that it is a fraud (which I am starting to wonder if they think this) then they will never get there.
  22. Blitzing repeatedly in the exact same way and not getting home on almost all of them until the 2nd half is akin to a fly repeatedly smashing itself on the screen door. Its trying really hard but effort doesn't mean success. Why wasnt there any adjustment to these blitzes and why was the QB spy so far back from Wilson?
  23. Bills are like an Opiod addiction. We can talk all we want on how bad they are and how much we hate this and that and we dont care but we will all be back next Sunday for another "hit" and more abuse!
  24. I cannot for the life of me understand how these DB's are coached? They are constantly giving the receiver a 5-10 yard cushion. Even on plays that are quick passes. When the QB has all day to throw its even worse. This despite the fact that none of the DB's has the speed to close down the receiver and get there in time to intercept the ball or break it up. Sometimes they don't even get there in time for tackle. The 2nd problem is that they never look for the ball. They literally time their coverage by staring at the receiver's actions. Last night, Wilson serves up a pop fly pass that should have been easily intercepted, let alone knocked down but Johnson has no idea where the ball is and times his challenge really badly and collides with the receiver. Had he just made a slight effort to find the ball and turne, the contact would have been probably incidental and there is no flag. Instead he makes no effort and the refs are quickly convinced of PI. I don't think I have ever seen a team that is worse in these two areas of pass defense than this current Buffalo Bills squad. I've seen better coaching in college and CFL. That is all on McD and his defensive crew!
  25. The Bills still make me feel like the irrational 10 year old I was when I started watching them back in 1979. But they were so bad in 1979 I didn't care. However 1 year later they won the division and made the playoffs. When Fouts won the playoff game for SD with a 50 yard slant pass that should have been stopped I had my first taste of the heartbreak of devastating Bill's loss where I had become irrationally invested. Now 43 years later its the same feeling. No other team does that to me among all the sports teams I have followed, near and far. The Bills still make me want to smash something or scream obscenities as loud as I can. When I saw the PI on Johnson and his clumsy avoidable coverage I smacked the floor and crumpled to a heap with disgust. Then the FG sails wide, BUT WAIT a flag for the most obvious and indisputable penalty in football, TOO MANY MEN!!! Thats when I just went off like Vesuvius! Even my teen kids (who usually find my Bills antics amusing and mock them) were completely disgusted with the outcome and left in a fury! All I could think is welcome to Bills fandom guys, its a lifelong abusive relationship with a few highs but a life of pain!
