  1. If you went back all the way back to the 2000 draft you would also see a similar pattern of ineptness. We have drafted absolutely terribly and missed the playoffs at the same time. coincidence? some of the picks listed here were at least decent for a while. If you go back before this there are a ton of flat out busts, Erik Flowers, Mike Wiliiams, JP Losman, Tim Anderson, McCargo were all garbage and all #1 or #2 round picks. A complete waste.
  2. Only the Bills would find themselves in this predicament. I cannot honestly think they planned to tank. Because if so they are doing a terrible job of tanking. They have won 5 games which effectively ruins their chances at one of the first few picks. If they wanted to tank they should have traded TT before the season and just started Peterman. At the same time they are now in a great position to make the playoffs in an unusually weak AFC. Instead of seizing the opportunity the coach starts an unproven rookie who he hasn't vetted properly. Which is a spectacular failure. They trade away their run stuffing (but incredibly overpaid) D lineman and their defense is ripped apart in 3 straight games. Its almost like they WANT to lose now. Which if so is absolutely insane.
  3. Tyrod gives us an opportunity to win this game. Peterman might have all the potential in the world but that doesn't matter with this current Oline and blocking scheme. Peterman will be eaten alive. That and the fact that we are away from home make this a no brainer. Also we have lost 3 straight to the Chiefs where we have blown completely winnable games (Jeff Tuel pick 6??) . I think we match up well against them and if our D can limit them and we can hang around, we might finally get a break and win one of these games.
  4. Are D has been abysmal for 3 straight games we have injuries and YET we don't go out and sign either of these guys?? Seriously?? I think both of these guys have something left in the tank for the short-term. They could be a rental to plug some holes and get us to the playoffs, but we don't do anything? The Pats do this all the time. Save a player from the NFL scrapheap and put them in a position to contribute with a good scheme and coaching. Yet once again even though we have a glaring NEED here we let a useful player get away. Just plain stupid.
  5. TT cannot audible correct? There is no way in hell they would have let Peterman do it. I guess when the play is called Dennison expects that play to be run. If he had seen something obvious from the D they were opening up he would have buzzed down to Peterman's helmet head set to change the play. He was up in the booth yesterday so he has no excuse. Unless of course that he just isn't very good at his job
  6. I honestly didn't think that the Dareus trade would make much of a difference at the time. He only had one sack before he was gone. But Dareus' best skill set was stuffing the run or at least forcing opposing rbs to run around him where others would make the tackle for minimal gains. Dareus was never going to be a monster sacker of QBs, just too heavy. I remember back in 1990 seeing Bruce Smith out on the town at the Late Show in NF and I couldn't believe how huge the guy was. He was a man mountain. Dareus outweighs Bruce by 70lbs!! and is almost the same height 6ft3! They now have a more space (literally) in that defensive line because Washington is much smaller than Dareus. Its looking like a bad move by Beane and Co now because they really didn't have a plan B. In addition the late round pick they got for Dareus was not acceptable. It just further adds to the questions surrounding this regime's competency.
  7. God also abandoned his loyal servant Nate yesterday as well. He seems to be a Pats fan.
  8. Actually this did cross my mind but I don't think that Pegula would have interfered with McD and Beane like that. He doesn't seem like that type of owner. Perhaps I am being naïve here but he seems to be to trusting in the "process" and giving these guys a long leash. I sincerely hope I am right because that would not only reflect badly on Pegula himself but remove any respect I had for McD to cave to the owner like that. But that's the sad part here McD looks really bad no matter how you try to spin it. If you played Peterman because the owner ordered you then you are a wimpy coach who doesn't stand up for yourself. If you played Peterman because you incredibly overestimated his talent and preparedness then you look like a fool. Either way this spectacular failure might be devastating for McD's long term trajectory as a HC.
  9. In the Jets game and this one it really looked like both opposing HCs really did their homework on both sides of the ball. Both these teams looked really prepared for what they faced in the games. Bills looked really unprepared like they were just going to show up and beat the Jets in their house on national TV and then today they didn't tailor their game plan to help Peterman. The Bills also didn't look like they made any adjustments to their Defense with pass rush (mostly terrible), pass coverage (abysmal) and run defense (poor). I get that they have injuries but do SOMETHING different after getting gashed in 2 straight games! Bills set themselves up to lose today and that's on all the coaches!!
  10. I always find it kind of funny when professional sports teams point to certain things and say "they dissed us and that's why we whupped them". So SD needed added motivation to beat the Bills? If the Bills had started TT would SD have not tried as hard?
  11. you are correct because we are gluttons for punishment!!
  12. Its pretty scary how things turned out for Nathan Peterman in his first start but I am really concerned about what this debacle of a game exposes about McD and Beane. A few observations/questions trying to understand today's disaster. 1.If you benched TT in reaction to a pathetic offensive performance vs The Jets and Saints then I can kind of understand the rationale to a point but TT has had some good games this season why give up on him when you are still in a playoff position? That shows a scary lack of poise and patience in a HC. 2. What scares me much more is that either McD or Beane thought Peterman was ready to start. He looked absolutely in over his head. The fact that they believed he could succeed when he was that inept is stunning. If you watch Peterman’s mechanics in that game he is basically telegraphing where he is throwing the ball to allowing the dbs time to get there. He is not sensing the blitz and overthrowing his receivers. Totally nervous and not ready. If they actually believed he was ready they must be delusional or intensely bad judges of talent. 3. If you benched TT to light a fire under him to perform down the stretch well I guess you got his attention, but to do it when the playoffs are in sight? Really bad idea. 4. Did they bench TT because they were afraid as Vic Carucci said that he would lead them into the playoffs and they don’t see him as part of the future? So they would actually deny us the chance at the playoffs to further their "process" . Then McD and Beane are truly evil and against anything this fan base holds dear. 5. If they benched TT because they wanted to distract from a horrendous defense effort then they are simply morons. 6. Why in the hell if you are putting a rookie in to start do you not work with Dennison to call the simplest game plan ever. McCoy should have been used non stop, simple passes to keep the defense honest. It seemed to me that Dennison’s game plan was a little too much for Peterman to accomplish and once they were down it put Peterman into an impossible position. 7. If you knew how bad our O line has been in the last 2 weeks with an elusive mobile QB then why the hell would you put a less mobile pocket passer in?? That was suicidal. Beyond stupid. Peterman tooks some incredible hits that led to at least 2 of his INTS. Once again this seriously questions McD’s intelligence. The bottom line is that this game has exposed McD and Beane in multiple ways and they have egg all over their faces. Although I was skeptical, I thought McD was an upgrade on Rex’s gong show. Now I am not so sure. It seems like he could be just as much as a fraud.
  13. TT wins only if he plays on D and sacks Rivers or maybe stays within 5ft of an open Charger receiver. Hell he couldn't have been worse than the Bills D today.
  14. I am racking my brain to remember a QB who performed worse in any game let alone in his first start. 38 years of watching the NFL, CFL, NCAA, USFL, XFL whatever and I cant think of one that comes close. What a debacle.
  15. TT has to be the starter. Peterman could not have performed worse. He not only looked unready but he didn't even look NFL calibre period.
  16. This is one of the greatest photos I have ever seen!! This guy is having the time of his life out there!! With the Tattoos he looks like some sort of Celtic warrior charging into battle vs the Romans. The look on the kicker's? face is priceless!!
  17. I would love to get on board with this bandwagon for Peterman however haven't we seen it before so many times. It started with RJ, it continued with Bledsoe coming here. Then we got JP Losman who was touted as a "gunslinger" then we get a high pick and get EJ Manuel. We are like an apocalyptic cult awaiting the MESSIAH and glorious rapture. Only to be disappointed over and over again. I have one caveat though, Brady the greatest QB of all time was somehow missed by NFL scouts in 2000 until pick 199 in the 6th round. Even in training camp he was passed over for Bledsoe by" super genius" Bellichick. Nobody was excited that Brady was taking over for Bledsoe, the National media was completely clueless. There's always that slight chance history repeats with Peterman as a diamond in the rough. I think Bills fans deserve it. We have had bad karma and misery for too long!!
  18. This should be a poll and the FANS category would win easily. The Bills in Toronto was the ultimate "screw you" to the long suffering fans. I don't really feel sorry for anyone else. Even Flutie (who I was a big fan of) got his chance and unfortunately wasn't able to capitalize. Wade also had his chance and bungled several games. He didn't even make the decision on Flutie being benched over Johnson because he backed down from Ralph. Nobody else got screwed but in the case of Thurman, Bruce and Andre they should have finished their careers here and not be treated with disrespect.
  19. Your post is spot on. Flutie's arm strength started to go in the 2nd half of the season and the offense sputtered as a result. Much like Tyrod , opposing teams figured Flutie out. He still had the escapability and was a much better throwing on the run than TT but the initial Flutie Magic had gone. RJ on the other hand had done nothing to deserve winning the start in TN. The game played out predictably in the first half, RJ was a disaster. He was getting sacked left and right. I can remember during the halftime, Steve Young was stating that Flutie should be put in. The only thing that kept the Bills in that game so RJ had a chance was their defense. Would Flutie have won that game had he started? or came in relief? Who knows? I think he would have been really motivated to prove himself. Flutie had to know that if he got a chance in that game it might be his last shot to get to a SB. But thanks to Wade being a pu$$y we will never know.
  20. My wife says this to me every week as I explode with frustration and shout at the TV. It just makes me even angrier!!
  21. Rivers will be either out or facing the effects of a concussion. This is as good a time as any to break this streak of futility. The Playoff loss in San Diego in early 1981 is still one of my saddest Bills memories. They played a great game and shut down an incredible offense only to lose on a flukey pass play when they got burned on a blitz!! I will never forget that horrible feeling of watching that Chargers receiver run to the end zone. Of course wide right was even worse, but that one still stings!
  22. Why are coordinators so bad at adjusting during games. The first drive things seemed to be working for TT but they either abandoned those ideas or the Saints made defensive adjustments. Either way Dennison should have been working out some alternate stuff with TT after the 3rd drive stalled. Instead it was liking watching a fly try repeatedly to get out of a screen door, a lot of effort for nothing. We have a boring vanilla offense with a limited QB. We don't need Tom Brady here to try and mix it up. Throw in a reverse, some options. They didn't even try any jumpball 50/50s with Benjamin. Instead they did nothing and didn't change a thing. Absolutely stupid offensive coaching and decision making.
  23. Kyle was a great player but he has disappeared in the last couple of years and injuries have compounded things. He looks done unfortunately.
  24. The only way TT gets us to the playoffs or wins a game in the playoffs is if the Bills employ the "Trent Dilfer" QB is a game manager strategy. He will never win us a game by outgunning the other team. The only chance that we win today's game is if our D showed up and not only did they not, they basically lay down for the Saints. With the D playing this badly the offense has to score on every possession to have a chance and Tyrod just isn't your man and never will be. Fix the D or Tyrod is worthless.
  25. Watching Drew Brees confidently run that offense and do what he needed to do to compliment the great running game just reminds me how I wish we had drafted him back in 2001. Instead we got Nate Clements. Oh yeah we didn't need Brees because we had future HOFer Rob Johnson. We were so deep at QB who needed him!!
