  1. Thank you! This is quickly becoming my favorite part of the week.
  2. Yes, unfortunately it is not just one year of history. It's pretty amazing a 2-0 starts means something to many teams but has not worked out for the Bills. I'll be nervous until we are definitely in!
  3. It depends on so many factors but I'd guess if we are still struggling and much of it is the QB position that they would make the switch at the bye week.
  4. Eric Wood is one of my favorite Bills ever. He's a smart guy and not afraid to tell the truth. There was actually a storyline banner running the other day that Sam wasn't picked up on waivers. Who cares? Why is this news? If you really want people not to be prejudiced stop making a big deal about everything minorities do or don't do! Doesn't equality mean treating him like everybody else ESPN? And who is convincing them everyone wants to hear that news all the time?
  5. Stay with it - there are some fans here that don't want to spend all their time bashing the players we have. You just have to go to the right threads. EJ had some very mature comments about needing to be very optimistic to be successful and overcome the negativity. Can you imagine trying to play professional football with all the armchair coaches trashing you all the time who couldn't even start at QB for their high school team.
  6. I agree completely. And my point is, for me, he is an easy guy to root for because I think he is a high character guy. For example, I have much less respect for a player like Gino Smith or Sanchez or QBs like that who are trying to figure things out. If they were on the Bills I wouldn't care as much. Am I the only one that factors things like that into how much I pull for a player? Regardless if EJ ever gets it right he is trying to succeed the right way with a good work ethic and is much more respectful to the media and fans than many of them are to him. I am impressed by everything off the field and I'm hoping he starts to impress on it.
  7. Upon reading the Buffalo News article I am rooting so hard for this guy. I know many are doubting the future but he's a very young guy trying to do things the right way at least and trying to be positive. I hope everyone is a little patient and supportive. There are so many QBs teams give up on that turn into solid players after a few years and I hope we don't miss out on that by giving up on a young player too early.
  8. I'm excited to see our running game. A few games this preseason the line was opening big holes. True, most were called back bc of penalty but we had some nice running plays. Then we started tinkering with the line and the results were poor. I'd like to think we could get that back and CJ and Jackson will have big years hopefully not fighting injury the whole year like last year.
  9. I knew that was a stupid pick when they made it! Absolutely no one would have picked him in the next two rounds. A reach for some speed and he was so underwhelming they had to pick Goodwin the next year. At least I understand getting Goodwin who has a chance to be a decent WR and helps in other ways. In today's NFL you need receivers who can block too and TJ was a liability there as well.
  10. I'll try to look at the bright side of things...even though the front office looks ridiculous for making some of these moves so late I agree with the thread title. If it is true they have been pursuing Orton for so long than at least they were tenacious and did not give up until they got him. By the way, if that is true wasn't he under contract with the Cowboys and isn't that illegal?
  11. Problem is if Orton does play it's not a good sign. Either the line has gotton EJ killed (very likely) or EJ has put us in a big hole after one month. Orton may be ok but not likely someone to carry a team and win 5 in a row which is probably what we'd need by the time he plays. I wish the o-line was looking better. That's probably our biggest problem at the moment bc it is making EJ even worse and preventing him from making some meaningful progress. Just my opinion. Also, let's pickup Tebow just to play with Orton's mind. Could you imagine that locker room? Orton would love that plus 2QB controversies are so boring and we've done that before. Let's dress 3 and have the first full blown 3QB controversy. Get some people watching the Bills anyway!
  12. Now its on for real. May the better man take us to the Super Bowl!
  13. At least now we have a plan B. The staff doesn't have to be so paranoid about Manual getting hurt now and they can go all in with him the first month. If he can't cut it or gets hurt Orton will be comfortable in the offense by then and could play. Let's just hope he has at least a month before he is needed.
  14. Someone had worse guards than the Bills? We have got to be close.
  15. Very good move...at this point (unwise to be in this predicament). It's too late to get someone to challenge EJ and most of these guys want to start. You needed to find a veteran happy to help EJ and Tuel to get them in the best possible frame of mind to start. The Bills made the mistake of betting everything on Manual this off-season when they should have had a plan B. Lewis was no help to the other two. At least Palmer may be able to help them between the ears. Look, everyone was hoping EJ would be great by now but that was always unrealistic, ESPECIALLY considering the team around him. He is improving...slowly - and hasn't imploded yet like Edwards and Losman, etc. QB is a very fragile position and you need to develop confidence. It's kind of hard to do that when everyone overreacts to the mistakes and ignores the good play. If we all worked under that kind of pressure we'd quit. I swear if guys I know are criticized even once they can't handle it! Maybe Manual needs some support?
  16. Actually the Bills method of losing and who they lose to is unpredictable, however, the Bills losing is, unfortunately, very predicable! Dare I say inevitable?
  17. I am holding onto hope that Pears will learn to be a decent RG as he was going up against a great player in McCoy his first game. He was not a horrible T so he may do well enough at G. I worry more about LG. Looks like they have to play Williams - why they would pay a proven mediocre player and pin hopes on him is beyond me. I hope Richardson keeps improving and takes over because I don't think Williams can get any better. My next prayer is they all stay healthy. They are never deep enough. Every year they get finally rolling with 5 and one gets hurt and they fall apart after that. One injury and that will be the excuse for the whole year.
  18. The problem is you need someone very, very bright with experience to pick up a new offense quickly to be any help this year so most of these guys won't work. Orton might and Carr used to be good. I think Freeman would struggle contributing quickly enough. Plus, it would be nice to find a vet who could also help EJ. You know Tuel and Lewis are just as green as EJ and provide little support as backups.
  19. I agree! I see slow improvement in EJ...it's too bad it can't come a little quicker but the only horrible play was his fumble. If Chandler didn't fall and the RB didn't fumble I think he would have looked a lot better.
  20. I would agree with that. Good observation, especially after last year. Why would they take the chance of history repeating itself? Although they did try this with Kolb but he flamed out so quickly it didn't matter. I guess their biggest mistake was their evaluation of Kolb and not making the effort again this year.
  21. You guys should know football better than this. In preseason you don't show the playbook. So we are overreacting to a lot of this. However, many times in the season you run the play they are looking for which is when execution takes over. My concern is the lack of execution by the O-line mostly. When it is 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 you have to blow the other team off the line and when it's 3rd and 10 you have to pass protect. That's the concern. They are tinkering so much with the line it will be hard for the execution to look good. Maybe that is the issue - they are making the mistake of not getting players comfortable with what they'll be doing this year. Remember the Kelly days? Everyone knew the plays the Bills were going to run but they still worked because they were talented enough to win their matchup. Hopefully things gel fast and they settle on some people in some places soon.
  22. If you saw the play the INT was all on Chandler. He tripped over his own feet and feel down. Manual's pass was on target but before the slip. You cannot possibly blame that on the QB. Plus his receiver fumbled another ball. If you watch carefully Manual wasn't that bad yesterday.
  23. Wasn't Ponder terrible in Minnesota? Is Orton young enough? I thought Lewis was okay - why are they down on him?
  24. I think EJ is slowly improving and MAY become a good QB. Don't complain about not throwing downfield though. They are purposely not showing the deep ball. But I agree you need a plan B in case he regresses, or does not improve a little more quickly or gets hurt. So picking up Orton would be smart. EJ starts the first few games and by then Orton would be ready if needed. Otherwise there is no plan B.
