  1. Somebody should start a poll on Yes/No - Promote Pettine to head coach I would vote yes.
  2. Besides Pettine this is a pretty bad staff IMO. Even though it doesn't help the Bills I hope Pettine get's it. I think it would be an amazing hire for the Browns.
  3. I thought he would get an interview this year. I think he really deserves a shot at becoming a headcoach. If he does become their new headcoach we will see what kind of coattails Marrone has been riding...
  4. Phillip Rivers would be my choice for MVP in the NFL in 2013.
  5. I guess we can't complain all that much when the Redskins retain Haslett under a new regime who ran a bottom tier defense which gave up the 2nd most points/game in the NFL. But what's scary are the teams that are making similar decisions on coaches - Bills, Raiders and now the redskins. All dysfunctional teams.
  6. I don't think there was any talk about Morris being the DC just that he would be retained on the staff. The Jackson speculation was coming out of Washington.
  7. What is he gonna do when the Chargers are in the superbowl?
  8. The Red Lobster came with control and that didn't work. Now Snider can pull the puppet strings. On one hand it's bad for Jay but on the other hand if it fails he can throw Snider under the bus.
  9. I was just reading the skins site and they were all saying Haslett is going to remain as the DC, Morris stays as the DB coach and speculation that Hugh jackson as OC. Wasn't the Skins defense really bad? Odd coaching staff but the only reason I can think of this head coaching hire and keeping staff is $$$ because of all the sunk cost he has already with the Red Lobsters and the previous staffs before him.
  10. When Chicago was putting out their top special teams units with Hester, I'd imagine that number would be higher when you put in context the field position and points scored off of kickoff and punt returns alone. Our special teams units I would gauge severly impacted 2 losses this year. In the context of 16 games thats too many! Other than Dan Carpenter in the field goal phase, special teams did not contribute in any way.
  11. "Don't confuse effort with results philisophical disagreements"
  12. Does any of this sound familiar? It looks like Schwartz blamed the players as well when Crossman came under fire in Detroit when he refused to fire him. Everything is pointing to the fact that the special teams will probably not end well in Buffalo. http://www.mlive.com..._schwar_55.html
  13. If something like that would happen next year I won't be upset or mad. Honestly I'll just laugh.
  14. and that's with the Stache having a better track record as a coordinator.
  15. I believe it was the final New England game where the broadcasters had to make a point that they found it strange they never saw their special teams unit practicing onside kicks before the game (they said this was the norm with all the other teams they watched that year). ...and what do you know, the onside kick by Carpenter was the worst executed onside kick I watched all year
  16. Well it's 3 years in a row under two teams...if it happens again next year it's going to be 4 in a row.
  17. Crossman's special teams in Detroit was the first team since 1940 to give up a kickoff and a punt return for touchdowns in consecutive games last season. ---interesting fact
  18. Exactly. When you have Manning, Brees, Luck, Brady etc you can overcome mistakes and poor defense or special teams. One of the main things I have noticed the last 3 years with the Bills even when we play decently, we can't overcome mistakes or poor play on 1 of the 3 units. For Marrones job sake he can't afford it either.
  19. No you didn't. You added it in after the fact. The Chicago Bears proved the value of elite special teams for about 4 or 5 years in a row.
  20. You totally disregard that the playoff teams that have below average special teams have Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and Drew Brees.
  21. Special teams gaffs are what kill seasons. If you look at the majority of those teams, elite quarterbacks come to mind. Elite quarterbacks allow you to overcome defecencies. The 85% of the rest of the NFL like the Bills can't afford poor specials teams play.
  22. Crennel got fired in KC after a year. These examples are all within the last 365 days.
  23. Pretty much. With the exception of Pettine, Marrone didn't do a very good job filling his staff IMO.
