  1. Unlike the Bills the Browns have set themselves up where they won't have to reach for a QB.
  2. The biggest thing they need is a franchise QB.
  3. So the browns next headcoach will inherit 1) A top 10 defense. 2) The 2nd most cap room in the NFL 3) 3 of the top 35 draft picks in the 2014 draft 4) 5 of the top 83 selections This really is an excellent fit for Pettine or really any 1st time headcoach to turn this ship around. It's all there.
  4. No. Just examples of coaches not wanting to come to Buffalo.
  5. Actually I think you are correct. For some reason I thought he cancelled it.
  6. Well it's not to the extent of getting turned down by Bill Cowher, Marty and Brian Shottenheimer and Mike Shannahan... Bills also were interested in Chip Kelly last year and they were not able to get an interview.
  7. Different front offices with each decicision. Your logic you are basing the Browns ineptness on their past front office personnel.
  8. I would. Getting a 1st round pick for a RB....I don't see the value in trading 1st round picks for a RB. Is it the same front office that made the initial move in the draft to get him? I see the Browns franchise currently as a group who are quickly able to move on from mistakes. It wouldn't surprise me if they turn it around faster than the Bills. I don't see them any more inept than the Bills but perhaps a bit more progressive in their thinking.
  9. Like any other team. You realize Richardson was basically benched in the playoffs. It was a brilliant trade on the Browns behalf.
  10. But the fact remains they started to win games AFTER the trade.
  11. Tradking Richardson for a 1st round pick doesn't look like an inept franchise to me. Atleast it's not as inept as the overreaction to firing a coach after a year. That doesn't look inept to me either. I look at that as being able to move on from mistakes earlier rather than later. My point is the Browns are no more inept as the Bills, Redskins, Jets, Cowboys etc.
  12. Absolutely agree. The thought of ever being fired is mute. Don't people realize that after coaches get fired while they are under contract they still get paid. There is no risk whatsoever to taking a headcoaching gig.
  13. Pettine has always ran a mix of 34, 43, 46 and even 335 in some instances.
  14. The Browns defense is not a downgrade from the Bills. It's a good fit for him and I don't think it will be a downright failure because their defense should remain great. The Browns are making progressive personnel moves (Richardson for example) and firing a headcoach after a year. I think these are good signs for this franchise. It will be interesting how they draft this year and if hired the offensive minds he surrounds himself with because we can all agree they will have the expertise in that area.
  15. He would be far too dumb to NOT take the promotion and increase in pay. If in the chance he gets fired, he will 100% get the same/similar type job he currently has at the very least with another team. It is a win win situation for Pettine.
  16. Not really IMO. Pettines successful reputation preceeded the hire and Marrones program. More of like "performed as advertised".
  17. I'll pass on Fewell. More of a rush 4 and "fit it up" style. Bend but don't break.
  18. Pettines resume is excellent. Lots of playoff experience and he has been involved in many top units that have followed him throughout his career as a coach.
  19. I really think the Bills were a stepping stone for Mike Pettine IMO. Lot's of talent, needed a scheme. It really was a perfect fit for him.
  20. To think it is more "complex than that" is a stretch. Who interviews for a huge promotion, huge increase in pay (millions of dollars) and is assumed if hired not to except the job because of some other circumstance? Any circumstance is the minority. I can't go by that logic not knowing the "circumstances", if there are even any.
  21. IMO Pettine will want control of the defense and call the plays. I don't think Horton would be a good fit with Pettine as he would be taking a back seat. Not great for Hortons career IMO as he seems to be wanting to get out of the shadows.
  22. Agree. If Pettine is interested in interviewing for the job, I'm assuming that he's interested in taking it as well if given the opportunity. I don't think you can assume otherwise.
  23. Now if Pettine gets the HC gig does he take Henderson with him and gives him defensive coordinator title (although Pettine still calls the plays and designs the scheme). As it would be a promotion for Henderson I don't think the Bills can deny him. If this happens our coaching staff would be stripped barer than the Dick Jauron days.
  24. If Pettine goes to the Browns I think it is the best hire out of all the current positions that have been recently filled.
