  1. Leslie Fraser with the Vikings is another example.
  2. No suprise considering when the HC goes from 110% one week to dodging questions whether he might not play the next.
  3. Jason Garrett comes to my mind right away. Offensive coordinator for Wade Phillips ...when Wade got fired Jones hired Garrett head coach...it does happen in the NFL.
  4. Marrone also made a big deal about accountability and discipline when he was hired yet this was one of the most penalized teams in the NFL.
  5. Marrone has done a lot of things this year which made me shake my head. There is a lot of inexperience there which has showed this year in the media and on game day.
  6. Actually it's Doug Marrones roles which were small in the NFL even his role in New Orleans which was focused on protection schemes and not playcalling. Pettine has vastly greater experience in terms of scheming and creating gameplans for an entire unit in the NFL...and its actually a 3 year difference. I'm under the impression Marrone doesn't have a single year of experience (or having say) of playcalling in the NFL prior to becoming HC of the Bills
  7. BTW Pettines defenses have made superbowl runs...wasn't his defense in the AFC championship 3-4 years ago? Mulitple playoff appearances when he was with the Jets. He already has that under his resume.
  8. Yet it didn't stop the Bills from hiring Doug Marrone who had a college track record of .500 at Syracuse. Pettines track record is far superior IMO and includes a lot more NFL experience.
  9. Would not be surprised if he gets an interview(s) or lands a headcoaching gig. I think this would be devestating to the Bills though if we lose Pettine any time soon. It will surely show what this coaching staff is made of. IMO any success this team has had so far has been off the coattails of Mike Pettine and his defense.
  10. No. He asked about Manuel and didn't answer the question and just deflected that Williams, Goodwin etc might not play or someone might get sick tomorrow and they could be questionable for a game..lol. It was obvious deflection and something a politician would do...retracting and deflecting after a week before saying it was 110% that he would be back. A year in the offense...but nowhere close to a full season of playing time in the offense which is by far more important.
  11. Per WGR and Marrone. How does Manuel go from 110% one week to might not play and deflecting questions about it? Manuels development this year has been nothing short of the worst case scenerio. We really have no clue what this guy has to offer to this franchise going forward to next year. Such a huge question mark. Not good.
  12. Well deserved extension. Makes sense for both sides. I really like what Branch offers in Pettines scheme.
  13. I turned on the radio yesterday and Marrone was talking about how tying your shoes a certain way is critical to winning and changing the culture. I was like oh boy we are in trouble! I am of the opinion that Manuels lack of development is in part tied to the coaching. It's a red flag for both.
  14. I think it is wise not to blame injuries. They were in the playoff hunt late in the season with pretty much an 100% healthy team starting and they played their worst football of the season against some of the worst teams in football. I'm not sold on Marrone as many here like with the points you mentioned. He hasn't been very good at managing the game either which I thought was critical to some of the losses early in the season. I would argue where the most improvement on this team is thanks to Mike Pettine.
  15. I stand corrected it was after Levy stepped down, Brandon has been involved in the football operations which has been 5-6 years now. That is a long time in a football job sense. Whether or not he is calling the shots at the end of each decision we will never know, but he is obviously heavily involved in the process. If you think Brandon defers control of the football operations to the GM, headcoach etc why was Brandon at the combine this offseason? Wasn't he tweeting from there or something at one point?
  16. This article from Vic Carruci after the Dick Jauron firing, falls in line with the fact that Brandon has been very involved in the personnel/football side for many years prior to the announcement last year. Carruci even labels him as the GM. Mike Shanahan has emerged as the Bills’ “No. 1 candidate” to become their full-time coach after the season, according to a source close to the team. The source said a meeting between Shanahan, Bills owner Ralph Wilson and Bills chief operating officer/general manager Russ Brandon, who is overseeing the hiring process, likely will take place next week. http://blogs.nfl.com...ials-next-week/
  17. Absolutely. Brandon was on the radio several times talking about this. How do people call themselves Bills fans around here when then don't even know this. Like I said, Brandon in one way or another has been around the personnel side of things since the Donahoe firing. Doh!
  18. He was involved in the process. I thought this was common knowledge?
  19. He was the defacto GM after the Donahoe firing.
  20. Russ Brandon has had his nose in the personnel decisions ever since Wilson canned Donahoe. Brandon is an excellent marketing guy no doubt, one of the best but he has been part of the problem why the football program side with the Bills is a mess and continues to be.
  21. That's like saying Rob Johnson would have been a good quarterback after winning the superbowl being the backup QB.
