Mike Pettine speculation-interviewing w Cleveland
BuffaloBillsForever replied to mannc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is exactly how I am looking at this situation as well. I actually like the personnel moves that this front office has made in their first year A LOT and will like the Browns future even more if they hire Pettine. -
Greggo for DC I believe it would be a promotion.

Produce a perfect NCAA BB bracket, win $1 Billion

The odds are better for anyone surviving the 1st colonization of Mars in 2025 than someone to pick the NCAA bracket 100% correct. -

Incarceratedbob says yes. -
He’s listed as a Special Assistant for the Bills, and was to help the organization in a variety of football-related roles. One of those roles includes scouting the talent at the Senior Bowl in Mobile this week. In an appearance on the John Murphy Show, Bills GM Doug Whaley said he likes being able to lean on his predecessor as a sounding board and talent evaluator. “He’s a great resource for me and I would be remiss if I didn’t use him,” said Whaley. “Any major decision or free agent we think about bringing in and ask him what he thinks. After this BLESTO meeting we’ll give him a list of the top rated guys and have him look at those guys. We’ll give him some of the free agents that we’ve pegged as interesting. So he’s a resource and with that wealth of knowledge I’d be remiss if I didn’t pick his brain and use him to our fullest advantage.” What do people think about this? http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2014/01/22/nix-still-playing-role-for-bills/

Mike Pettine speculation-interviewing w Cleveland

It just begs the question what kind of coattails he has been riding on the success of the defense. Although it shows nothing about in-game management, how he would run a team etc these type of things raise more questions about him. I just find Quinn is more inexperienced and unproven than Pettine...though it isn't to say he isn't a better candidate...we all have no idea... -

I agree. ...and if we would read any articles about the Bills defensive scheme the article would focus on Mike Pettine and not doug marrone. That Seattle article focused on Pete Carroll. Not a single mention of Quinn. I find that there are too many unproven/unanswered questions about Quinn and his philosphy, experience, scheme, playcalling etc I find that Quinn is a MUCH more riskier candidate than Pettine although the "casual" football fan will look at Pettine and say to themselves he is the current DC of the Bills. -

Quinn isn't mentioned a single time in that article or credited with anything. Looks more likes Carrolls scheme. -

I'd say the verdict is more out on Quinn than Pettine. We know Pettine can scheme and make his players better. Quinn is STACKED with talent. I don't know whether his scheme matters all that much in Seattle as there are no holes. For all we know he is at a greater risk of becoming a Dave Wannstedt type who rode the coattails off amazing talent . I don't have any worries about Pettine but I sure would about Quinn. -
Poll: Pettine or Marrone
BuffaloBillsForever replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OC title was a glorified title. Marrones main responsibility was with the protection schemes. Payton had control of the scheme, gameplan and playcalling. -

The Bills should have acted on this once their season was over. Now they are dealing with a dry pool. -

Richard Sherman post game -- 'nuff said!

When Sherman said he is the best CB in the game he is probably correct. I would put him up there in a 1 and 1a category with a few other players. -

add all the trashtalking and competitive spirit during the game, having Sherman make the game winning play in the final minutes and putting a mic in front of him 30 secs after the game is over...I can't really judge Sherman here...we have no idea what was exchanged between the two -

Seeing an outburst like was a shock at first but at the same time after I stepped back and considered the reputation of the 49ers receivers had this year I was much less surprised. ...and yes Sherman isn't a saint himself. -

The 49ers receivers (Anquin Boldin especially) in 2013 have had a reputation of rampant trashtalking. I'm sure that was the case here with Crabtree. Shermans actions are really a non-issue with me. -
Richard "classless" Sherman
BuffaloBillsForever replied to mrags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Boldin and Crabtree have been known to play dirty in terms of trash talking all year in SF. No surprise that an outburst occured at either one of those guys. -

Why wouldn't you think he would give it his all? One cleveland article I was reading was saying that "team officials" were apparently blown away by Quinn and Pettine. With the speculation of Gase wanting to stay in Denver you have to assume those two are the front runners for the job. -

The next browns headcoach has a lot better opportunity for success IMO than the mess Gailey enherited. -

Yeah, that's when the toxicity started. It just became more on the radar or got more attention after they started looking at "higher end" applicants like Cowher after Jauron got fired. But they couldn't land some assistants either that year for an interview. Yes. With your own favorite team. -

I don't think Chud can interfere with their interview process like that since technically he is still getting paid by the browns. Does anyone know of any specific NFL sanctions there are with these type of situations? To tweet that she must be excited about the prospect of her father becoming a HC in the NFL. That probably makes Pettine too. -

Mike Rodak of ESPN is speculating if Pettine is hired he will likely take outside linebackers coach Jim O'Neil and defensive line coach Anthony Weaver and pegged Donnie Henderson as a "wild card" and wouldn't rule him out becoming the next DC in Buffalo. http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/6573/pettines-departure-would-set-back-bills I don't think the Bills could sustain a gut job like that on the defensive side---atleast short term.
