  1. Not really a curious hire when you think about it. Marrones an offense guy, he hired a stooge to run his offense. Payton did it, McCarthy did it, Reid did it, etc... All the big offensive minded coaches hire stooges to run their offense. Even Arians did it, he hired his old OL coach Harold Goodwin who had no OC experience. These guys want someone who shares there philosophy and will implement it. This is Marrones offense.
  2. Agree with all of this. A good OC is a combination of a lot of things but it starts at QB. The Bills don't have one. I'd also add that offensive HC hire foot soldiers to run their Offense. Payton does it. Reid does it. McCarthy does it. And I believe Marrone does it. Hacketts a foot soldier running Marrones scheme.
  3. Yea I thought about 9 wins. I think for me the disappointing part was after seeing how good the defense was playing I moved that total to 10 maybe 11 wins. The offense was a complete disappointment.
  4. I don't even think he used to be more consistently average. This is his 2nd best season statistically so he's not playing any "worse" than he used to. I think his first couple games were a mirage he just happened to put a couple games together. The last 5 games he has regressed to his normal average self. I remember listening to the radio after his 4th game and he was on pace, if he played a full season, for something like 36 TDs and 4000+ yards. Thats not Kyle Orton, he has NEVER been that good. So those first 4 games were were got evened out by these bad ones. This is the same Kyle Orton. He just isn't good enough.
  5. I know it's your opinion that the coaches have made him this bad but this is statistically speaking his 2nd best season ever. I'm just not sure how that is possible if he wasn't just being the same way he has always been.
  6. It's tough because he was being super immature in Buffalo. But I agree, it's a tough pill to swallow. He is a dynamic RB.
  7. Six 3 and outs in a row. The offense sucked today and again left the defense out to dry.
  8. I still think there is a good chance Pitt beats KC and then next week KC beats SD at home. Still need Cincy to lose this week and next. I think the team the Bills can't worry about is Baltimore. They have a pretty easy schedule.
  9. Yup. And a lot of the top 10 offenses remain the same. Haha. Bravo.
  10. I didn't say it was easy. I'm simply saying replacing the OC, IMO, would solve very little. The goal should always be to find a QB. There needs to be an upgrade.
  11. What do the top 10 offenses in the league have in common? Btw they are as follows (OC in parentheses): 1. Pittsburgh (Todd Haley) 2. New Orleans (Pete Carmichael Jr.) 3. Indianapolis (Pep Hamilton) 4. Denver (Adam Gase) 5. Philadelphia (Pat Shurmer) 6. Green Bay (Tom Clements) 7. Atlanta (Dirk Koetter) 8. New England (Josh McDaniels) 9. Dallas (Scott Linehan) 10. Baltimore (Gary Kubiak) Looks to me, besides Philidelphia they all have good to great QB play. I'd also say looking at OC there aren't offensive geniuses in that group either as far as OCs. Players make OCs look great. More specifically good QBs make OCs look great. It's rare that and OC makes a crap QB look good. The Bills have a lower tier QB and that's where the offense ranks.
  12. I'm sorry I just don't see how that is possible. The coaches coached him into missing wide open receivers. You don't think that sounds at all a bit ridiculous? It sounds far more likely that Orton is a 31 year old journey man QB who is regressing. He's been on 5 teams and hasn't stuck. He's a back up QB.
  13. It was unbelievably frustrating. In the first play you see he misses Watkins, well if you look Gray is running across the field wide open too. He just leaves a lot of plays on the field.
  14. Seriously go back and watch the Watkins "slips". The throws are horrible. He "slips" attempting to catch a poorly poorly thrown ball. The first one Orton short hopped it and the second one he wasn't even close, 2 yards in front of him and 3 yards to his right. It was bad. He was doing it all day... https://vine.co/v/OgOaedaAYza https://vine.co/v/OgOzUvD9jr1
  15. Didn't look like he slipped so much as the 2 throws were piss poor. He was attempting to at least try to catch the ball but the first throw looked like it was going to land 3 yards in front of Sammy so he had to quick stop and launch for it. The second throw was at least 2 yards in front of him and 3 yards to his right. Again attempted to catch the ball.
  16. Really? Those are common problems with lots of average to below average QB's. So you think that somehow Hackett or Marrone has made these players inaccurate and not be able to read defenses?
  17. Yea they understand he's a great talent and just keep feeding him the ball.
  18. He plays in the slot a lot too. I'd be interested to see how much in plays in the slot vs. outside.
  19. I'm sorry but I disagree. I finally went back and watched the first half. Orton had at least 6 bad plays. Two sacks, where if Orton could just move in the pocket a little it would bought him more time. The pressure wasn't that bad, Orton just needed to move a bit in the pocket. The int which you pointed to, but the play directly before that he missed a wide open Woods when he threw the ball way too high. Woods could have caught it but that throw was bad. The series before that he misses Watkins on a come back at the first down marker, yes Watkins slipped but he slipped because he was attempting to catch a widely inaccurate throw. He threw the ball 2 yards in front of Watkins. He actually did that twice, threw a terrible ball in front of Watkins. On 3rd down of that series he choose to go to Hogan, who is 5 yards short of the marker instead of Chandler who is at the marker and Watkins who is 1-on-1 and streaking down the sideline. Bad decision there. It's Orton. Yea there were some bad penalties there but Orton certainly wasn't play good at all. Missing throws and taking sacks. Also making poor decisions on where to go with the ball.
  20. I think an interesting topic with what will be what happens with the Jets and Dolphins. The Jets defense has been their strengths for years, even this year it is still a halfway decent defense except for the secondary. Without Ryan I think that defense falls apart. They will be a mess next year, again. I think they'll want to bring in an Offensive coach, which won't help much because the Offensive side of the ball is severely lacking in talent. The Dolphins should be interesting as well as they possibly hit the reset button again.
  21. I would imagine Spikes would see the field more, in that case. These aren't the Rogers lead Packers who will just spread you out. This is a rookie QB who most likely wouldn't recognize the mismatch Spikes brings. I can imagine them putting 8 in the box and forcing Carr to throw.
  22. I mean c'mon they played the NFC South. Haha.
  23. Even if you're in a playoff race?
  24. I'd say it was a combination of bad penalties (holding on the first series), slipping and Orton taking a sack. They were just in really bad 1st and 2nd down and longs.
