Q&A: Confident EJ Manuel builds on adversity of 2014
Wayne Cubed replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They like to take what Rex has said and spin it, it's easy and it generates clicks. Look how Rex reacted to Taylor having a good day on Tuesday. Was he excited? Did he talk up Taylor? Nope. And he was asked specifically, by Sal, about Taylor's play. He carried on saying what he has always said, "Someone will earn the job" "We might not have the elite of the elite..." "Competition brings out the best in them" etc. Never mentioned Taylor having a good day specifically, talked about the QB's as a group. But because he didn't comment on EJ, when EJ had a good practice, it obviously means he doesn't like him. He must not like Taylor either because he didn't talk him up after Tuesdays good day. -
Could you work the FleaMouldsXX rating system into it somehow?

Bills' Mandatory Minicamp: June 16-18
Wayne Cubed replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't get that vibe at all. Rex has been consistent with his message. EJ had a good day, so what, doesn't change anything. He said the same exact things after Taylor had a good day Tuesday. He didn't give Taylor any praise for it. -

Chris Brown @ChrisBrownBills EJ's touchdown drive in 2 min capped w/over shoulder touch throw to Easley w/:16 seconds left. Manuel's footwork much improved. #Bills If the bolded is true, thats a very good sign. -

Vic Carucci @viccarucci EJ Manuel looking very sharp w his throws, albeit vs 2nd team D, in #Bills final minicamp of offseason. Matt Cassel? Not so much. So basically Manuel looks good today against 2nd team defense, maybe the Bills starting defense is a terror, it'll be good to practice against them. -

The problem I have with the reporting is they have no idea what the Bills are trying to work on. These aren't games, they are working on situational football. For example Joe B was complaining that the QB's are dumping the balls off in 7 on 7's with no pass rush. Maybe they are working on dump offs? Who knows. To Joe B that's a good story, "OMFG can you believe the Bills QB's are dumping the ball off in 7 on 7's, it's a tire fire down there at OBD" "Check out my socks" I like hearing about football in the offseason but I hate it all the same. I'd like to make my own mind up on how players are playing or how they look but for that I'll have to wait until training camp and preseason. Instead I have to settle for some reporters opinions on what they saw, who need to create controversy to generate clicks. -
Ridiculous? It's far from ridiculous. The Bills were looking for a veteran QB to possibly start but who would most certainly be competing for the job. Expected starter? Why didn't the Bills name Cassel the starter when he was traded? You don't think it's at all possible that they thought of Cassel as a slightly better player but weren't willing to give up a pick for him at first? Maybe the Vikings wanted a 4th or a 5th round pick when the first call was made to inquire. At this point in there respective careers, McCown has had 1 good season(really it was a half season), Cassel has had 2 full seasons. I wouldn't say Cassel is clearly the inferior player.

I kind of get where kdiggz is going. Cassel could have been Plan A but the Bills weren't willing to give up a pick for him so they go to Plan B and push hard for McCown, when that didn't work they admitted defeat and gave the Vikings what they wanted for Cassel. The Bills could have seen Cassel > McCown but when giving up a draft pick it really made Cassel = McCown and so they went after McCown because he was a free agent. Obviously we are all just speculating, much like this reporter is.

Game of Thrones Part Deax: The Readers Thread

Yup, I think they attempted to CG the body doubles face as well. All the full body shots looked a bit odd. -
Oh the hilarity of this post. Evan Mathis, a 3rd round pick himself.

Could Cordy Glenn really start off season on 2nd string?
Wayne Cubed replied to pbanach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Firstly, I think there is no denying that the Bills OL last year was subpar. I'm not arguing that. Yes, Coaches, GMs and other lineman evaluate lineman without knowing assignments, I'm not disputing that. They are professionals, although they get it wrong sometimes too. And a lot of the times it is throwing darts blindly, how many FA signing, draft signings haven't worked out? Thousands. There isn't one GM or Coach out there who get's there evaluation correct every time. The problem I have with PFF is they are fans, they have no ties to the NFL and have never been scouts. If you look at what I posted about what they look for in their "analysts" it's a far cry from anyone who I would consider "qualified". They don't digest plays. They are taught to look at a play, then rate each player's effect on that play. That's it. It's not the same person doing the rating either, so the opinions could vary greatly. They also show a lot of favoritism. "Player X is a good player and I couldn't tell if it was his fault or Player Y's but I'm going to give Player X the benefit of the doubt." We then get posters here who take those numbers and throw it around, like it's fact. As if some qualified person made that assessment of player X. If you had each member on this board watch a game and assign grades to each player, the scores would vary greatly. Some would grade harsher than others. If we did that for an entire season the numbers would vary even more. Possibly in some cases by 30-40 point swings. Did PFF get it right that the Bills line for the totality of the season wasn't very good? Yea they sure did. Are they correct when they call Henderson "putrid"? This is were I take their rating of individual with a massive grain of salt and I certainly wouldn't base my opinion on Henderson on it. -

Wayne Cubed replied to pbanach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a tough one especially when it comes to the OL. Even Kromer has said, in an interview, that it would be hard to evaluate how well individuals played along the OL unless he knew specific blocking assignments and what the calls were. Yet we are to believe that the guys over at PFF, who btw aren't expert football scouts they are fans , can somehow decipher what Kromer can not. Here's what PFF looks for in it's analysts: "ProFootballFocus.com is seeking a number of highly enthusiastic and dedicated football fans to join their analysis team. If you’re a passionate follower of football, looking to expand your knowledge of the game and get a foot in the door of the football industry, then you could have what it takes to become a part of PFF. The successful candidate must have: ● Demonstrable knowledge of the NFL product and what PFF does ● A very high level of enthusiasm and passion for football and Pro Football Focus ● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) ● Ability to meet deadlines ● Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent attention to detail ● At least 20 hours of free time per week, with a large amount of time available on weekends" Sure, it's a jumping off point of sorts but with a very large grain of salt. -

Wayne Cubed replied to pbanach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ah yes, the PFF evaluation, knew that was coming. Let's assign a numerical value to a player even though we have no idea what the blocking assignment was. -

First off, the video you posted wasn't play after play. It was a highlight real of Mack making good plays, the first 2 plays weren't even against Henderson. Was it a bad game for Henderson? Sure. Why are you trying to devalue how good Mack was/is by stating that he came in 3rd in voting? He looked good in a couple of games but like most rookies, including Henderson, had some up and down games. Did you not read what Yolo wrote?Joe Thomas got absolutely abused by Jerry Hughes last season. Joe Thomas played very badly against the Bills, much like Henderson did against the Raiders. The difference? Henderson is a rookie. I've noticed your go to game for evaluating Henderson is against the Raiders, care to evaluate any other games he player in? -
