  1. Actually that book about the Cowboys has made him persona non grata in Dallas. It was an in-depth look into the Switzer years and shed some very humiliating light on many of the players during that era. It actually deserves a thumbs up. What the piece did do was use widely known stereotypes with little tact and effort. That's shoddy, but nothing was factually off base. I like how he mentions fish and tacos being something to yearn for as if refrigerated storage and day-of catch shipping don't exist in the food/fishing industry. "If you go to Buffalo, you won't get fresh fish." Good one, Jeff. Way to drive home that point.
  2. That'll work....allow a bunch of bad teams to potentially overpay for good payers who in turn become disgruntled players who don't want to be there...your thoughts on changing contractual hold-outs as well while were at it?
  3. Hahah!! The Rogers Group is probably jealous the Natives got wampum and brandy too.
  4. FA is an earned right. Why would it aggravate you when a play chooses to go to a specific team? Waiver wire transaction and FA are two different things.
  5. Who knows if he's too good for Buffalo. Generally people with a chance or two left to impress won't feel like they're too good for anything. If this is indeed the route he takes, then you're right. Why if he's lucky? Maybe if he's healthy. Where is the comparison between Richie Incognito and Merriman coming from?
  6. The Last of the Mohican soundtrack pulls everything together for me.
  7. No offense, but why would a guy (Carrington) who hasn't played all season be an upgrade? What is wrong with Stroud!?! And Torbor, what has he shown you? Torbor's contributions are no more than Maybins. We don;t have enough talent to get fancy.
  8. I don't see how anyone could bash the Merriman pick up now!!
  9. True, but essentially our entire roster is a big 'if' at this point. We are a team of very few absolutes, and those that do exist usually are a negative.
  10. +1. WR is one position that has shown improvement under the new regime. LB is another story where any help would be greatly appreciated. It would essentially be an 8 game tryout.
  11. Interesting, I've never heard of him but will check into him now. If Luck is rd1, then rd2 needs to be an OT unless a viable option (not another Cornell Green) is brought in via FA. If that is the case, the next 4 picks need to be DEs and LBs.
  12. Yeah, aside from the first quarter where I noticed a nice counter-move on the LT, he wasn't overly impressive. With that said, I hope Chan still keeps playing him to see what we have with him. He's certainly not any worse than Torbor.
  13. I do for the most part. We're one draft into the Nix regime, and despite those who wish to bash this past draft through 8 weeks, I think talent evaluation should be one of his strengths given his past time as a scout. Personally, I'm in the draft Luck if available and if not, go heavy on D. I just don't think Mallet has the mobility to survive in Buffalo, but, with that said, I don't hate on Mallet like some based on heresy.
  14. Very true. They need to give all the snaps to Moats/Maybin when active/Coleman at this point in the season. No reason to keep playing Torbor and Co.
  15. Yes, yes, and yes. No, no, and no. Just depends on who you ask. In 2009, he was arrested at 3:47am for public intoxication as a 20yr old. Some people will say the starting QB at an SEC school should lead by example, others (myself included) will say "and your point is, he's in college." Some question his accuracy on simple, short throws. He's admitted that he needs to develop more touch on passes underneath because defenses have keyed on taking the vertical passing game away from him. Some will say this reminds them of JP Losman who could throw it a mile, but not hit a guy on a simple slant pass. Others will say this is something good coaching can easily correct. For a good laugh, check out his mug shot though. Funny stuff.
  16. I think Foles has the potential to be one of the better ones. His 2010 season has been so-so, thus, I can imagine him going back for his senior year. If the Bill's pass on a QB this year and (if football is played in 2011) win more games than the #1 pick allows, he's someone I can see coming/being available to the Bills. Barkley reminds me (I will get killed for this most likely) of a young Brees. Not big, 6'2" and a solid, not crazy arm. But he just gets the position it seems. I've been fortunate to watch a lot of his games and its been enjoyable, especially this year after he rebounded from a bumpy finish to last season. I'm especially impressed w/ how well he's done in a new system. It speaks well for his football IQ considering most elite programs don't have their prized QB prospects change head coaches/systems/schemes.
  17. Hey now...rocket arm my azz. What he does do, is diagnose plays quick and decide where he wants to go with the ball. It's amazing what a QB can do when he knows 'x' receiver is going to be open and he can set his feet and deliver it w/ some velocity. Trent often made the right reads but he'd be dancing around in the pocket and not entirely set his feet before throwing those dreaded out patterns. Few QBs in the league can get away with that, Trent most certainly was not one. I think this allows Fitz to make up for any shortcomings regarding his arm strength. Yes, well said.
  18. The only problem is, Gholston is proving that he is a serviceable player on a top 5 defense in the league. If he were on our team, he'd probably start. Also, if the Gholston situation says anything, perhaps there still is hope?
  19. No, even the Bills would not take Ponder with the first. Maybe in the 3rd...
