  1. Nice! Lotsa WNY transplants down here. Just sent you a PM.
  2. We're in! Section 126, row 22. See you guys at the Ralph! (For some of the games anyway.)
  3. On the flip side, I work at UNC and have heard plenty of negative things about Coples. I hope we go nowhere near him.
  4. They also have the kid's sizes on sale. With yesterday's signing of SJ, I picked up his jersey for my 2-year old son for $22. We plan to make the trip up to ROC for training camp this year, and with any luck we'll get to meet Stevie and have him autograph it. Then my boy can hang on to it long after he outgrows it.
  5. Just bumping this thread for the NC guys in particular. My wife and I live in Durham, NC and are considering season tickets to get back up to WNY for probably 2-3 games, and then sell the rest. Our aim wouldn't be to make a profit, but it would be nice to defray SOME of our travel costs in the long run. So when you NC guys go up, do you drive or fly? No direct flights from RDU to BUF or ROC is kind of a pain, especially since we'd be traveling with our little boy. Any other thoughts on your experience as season ticket holders in NC?
  6. Poking around on Twitter, I saw some Bears fan pissed off about this because he was hoping Chicago would pick up Stevie in FA. I gotta admit, fans of other teams saying "dammit" about this move makes me feel good. Let's go Buffalo!
  7. Number 13 has always been my lucky number anyway... Now that it'll be relevant for 4-5 years, I think I might just get me a Johnson jersey!
  8. Thank god. If for no other reason than this thread making me want to pour wing sauce in my eyes the last week or so.
  9. I'm more surprised that he thought he'd get away with it than I am at the fact that it happened at all. Telling members of a union to go out and incapacitate other members of that union? Yeah, that's not going to go over well.
  10. It is statistically more likely that we will sign 1978 Terry Bradshaw than Drew Brees.
  11. I'm just assuming no news is good news at this point. I bet it's in the works.
  12. Buddy Nix is cheap! Fire Buddy Nix!
  13. I think it's just a testament to the crapshoot nature of the draft. You scout and inform yourself as much as possible, but there will always be hall of famers drafted later than total busts.
  14. They're giving him LESS money? Ralph IS cheap!
  15. Plus I can't imagine it's a fast turnaround from football to baseball in Skydome. Not like hockey to basketball in an arena.
  16. Yeah, why was he cut in the first place and why the relative lack of interest in him?
  17. What's interesting is that a "focus on education" hasn't seemed to hurt the perception of Andrew Luck. He made it clear he wanted to stay at Stanford (most Ivy-like school west of the mississippi) and finish his degree in architectural engineering or whatever, but he's still considered the slam dunk #1 pick. Maybe it's different for QBs?
  18. I don't know much about the guy, but as heralded as he was coming out of high school, I'm surprised he got no serious looks by any college programs. As we learn every March, there are plenty of small schools that show up with some pretty good talent. Maybe it's something like, if a guy is super smart, recruiters and scouts just assume he won't have the heart for sports. Kind of like that really smart football player who came out of Florida State a few years ago. Dude was a Rhodes Scholar who wanted to take that year at Oxford, and then enter the draft. Even though he had all kinds of talent, his focus on education was viewed as a negative.
  19. She did sing the hell out of the anthem that night. It's an incredibly hard song to sing well, and she just blew it out of the water. I was just 13 at the time, but after a certain missed kick, it's my lasting memory of that night.
  20. For what he's going to make? He can afford to throw his own parties. As a wise man once said: Git 'er done!
  21. Just one: Metz, like Chandler, is slow and white.
  22. Ice?? That just waters it down! The good stuff is so smooth, it doesn't need to be cold.
  23. We moved to Durham, NC. It was a job opportunity for my wife. Cost of living is a tiny bit higher. Taxes are quite a bit lower, but I tell you what, in some ways you get what you pay for. The public schools here are pretty shady. And the towns with good schools have very high home prices and higher real estate taxes. My wife works in healthcare, and I work in higher ed, so once our little one becomes school age, we're strongly considering moving back to ROC or Buffalo. We both got great career experience down here we wouldn't have gotten up there, and now we would have a lot easier time finding jobs. The weather may suck, but it's home and we miss it. Plus our son is growing up down here not knowing his grandparents or cousins, and that sucks. I've lived in two other areas of the country now besides WNY, and I keep feeling drawn back. So, your mileage may vary, and I would never tell anybody not to see what's out there, but the grass isn't always greener. I have buddies who work in IT jobs didn't want to leave but had to because they have very few job options in WNY, but my wife and I are fortunate to be in fields where we're pretty likely to find decent jobs up there. Plus, we're finally at a point in our lives where we could afford Bills season tickets, so after a house and snowblower, that will be our first purchase upon returning.
  24. Usually when a science headline ends with a question mark, the answer is "No."
  25. Yeah, $2,500 was the minimum asking price for cheap seats on Stubhub right after the conference championships. Those prices kept sliding and sliding until the day of the game when they settled in at around $1,000. I was just a kid during the early 90s. But would I drop a grand now to see Buffalo in the SB? Hell yeah I would.
