  1. What do you think the minimum wage should be in San Francisco?
  2. So 4 of 4 people currently working for below a living wage (in SF, anyways*) turns into 3 of 3 people barely making a living wage, and 1 person unemployed/on a "handout". Kinda sucks either way. To be clear, though, in that article, I was responding to the fact that SF raised minimum wage 14%, and burrito prices (mostly) went up 10%. Also, thanks for more name calling, gotta love it here. * - I've said before, I do not support a national minimum wage of $15/hr... I do in certain jurisdictions, though. SF's cost of living calls for increased minimums, imo. And no, I have not a clue what to do about the employees who lose their jobs as a result. Hopefully the increase in spending from the lower classes offsets that with more jobs.
  3. Really just digging in, aren't you?
  4. He barreled into the bar, pushing her out of the way, she was pissed, he grabbed her wrist, she wanted him to let go, he didn't, she took a swing, he took a swing. Sounds like a drunken friday night to me. He's in the wrong, all he had to do is apologize after bumping her, and nothing happens.
  5. Just one source of many, but you get the idea:
  6. I could see the season playing out in any number of ways for all 4 teams in our division.
  7. I'm not so sure it's a lock that we are. The Jets defense will likely be just as good, if not better than the Bills. Most people think their QB situation is better (I'm not convinced, however). The Dolphins have a stout defense, and are seen as a much better offensive team than us. So it makes sense that the Bills could be picked last in a very competitive division. No weirder than the Bills being selected to finish first, imo.
  8. I kinda liked the Washington Warriors suggestion that was floated around for a while... I think the logos were military related. Keep the same colors for the team, to make things even easier, and boom done. It's not like Washington hasn't had teams change names before, I'm sure they'll survive. Hell, you could probably keep certain Native American motifs for a Washington Warriors name.
  9. Most crimes are same race... black on black, white on white, etc... generally because most crime is committed against someone familiar, and we are still in many ways, a socially segregated society. I'm not sure if there is much to do about influx of guns into gun control areas, because of the availability. The ideal would be to lower demand, and to create conditions where people aren't so desperate to get involved with gangs, or other crimes related to general poverty. Ideally rehabilitated criminals are rehabilitated, but our prison systems doesn't have a vested interest in rehabilitation, being that they're often for-profit businesses, and some even have minimum quotas, apparently. It's in their best interests for there to be repeat offenders. So.... ideally, people that finish their sentences should be allowed the same rights as anyone else, but realistically probably not :| In the end, there's too much that has to be changed in the US, so I doubt much is going to change any time soon or ever.
  10. My burrito goes up 60 cents in price, and the workers behind the counter have a better quality of life? I'm ok with that.
  11. Baltimore, on the other hand, has had a pretty bad year. Like I've said before, gun violence isn't *just* a gun control issue, there are many other factors at play. But having super inconsistent gun control laws across the US makes local gun control laws kinda moot, imo.
  12. Gonna call fake And here's a right wing blog with the person in question in a screenshot:
  13. http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/how-americas-lax-gun-laws-help-mass-murderers-and-cripple-minority-communities-706 Good read, imo.
  14. Interesting that the Federal Laws don't provide protection, I was under the impression that they did. Well then, time to do some good ole fashioned discriminating, for freedom.
  15. Nah... I may be far left, but Gator is... unique.
  16. Yup. Just like black people can't be racist, and women can't be sexist.
  17. Unless said cake is a form of hate speech... Why do I keep coming back.
  18. It's hard to feel sympathy for the group with systemic power, but sure thing bro.
  19. They refused a service they offer (cakes for marriages) to a gay couple. It's fun interpreting it different ways back and forth though. I think, though, I'll concede on my general points, and let you guys have the floor. I do have things to attend to. You're right, and I concede my points. Cheers
  20. That's exactly what happened at the Navy Yard last week. Though, not surprising considering the 12 shot there a couple years ago.
  21. There very much are. We're playing a game of RISK now?
  22. So they do marriages, but not marriages for gay couples, that means they refused service based on sexuality. End of discussion.
