Brohm's Starting Chances in Buffalo
mpl6876 replied to saundena's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I say why not start Brohm because Edwards and Fitz suck...Maybe Gailey can work his magic with Brohm. -
Thanks for responding. I hope you are right...I just think saying "If Gailey can teach these guys how to play offense better" isn't enough. A coach has to have players (ie) a QB, OL and WR. I feel that Gailey has limited resources. Secondly, I do agree we were in many games last year. However, that doesn't mean a whole to me for a couple of reasons. First, how many of those games we were in did you feel like we were going to win? Secondly, how much of it was due to the break but don't break defense we played? I want to win games not just be in them. Thirdly, a bigger and stronger defense with more depth is great. That is a very general statement and it remains to be seen if the Bills are the above mentioned. Remember a new scheme means new learning curves... I think 8-8 or 9-7 is overly optimistic.

If Thigpen is cut, Gailey will pick him up

Great post Albany. You hit the nail right on the head. You are keeping it real and lots of fans here don't want to hear the truth. The truth shall set you free...... -
Buffalo, I usually like and agree with your post. I do like your optimism and I do believe we have to give the new regime a chance. With that said. I ask you and others if the new regime is on the right course? I am not sure how the Redskins will do. However, it seems to me that they are choosing a course of action that is more suited to my liking and winning football games. One they hired a winner named Shanahan, two they got a QB named Mcnab, and three they just got their LT Brown. They filled two huge holes (QB and LT). Yet, the Bills haven't filled these two holes??? I know they have filled other needs like the N/T Troup... I am hoping that these two issues will be addressed before the season starts or else I think it's going to be a long season. I am not so sure I agree with the thinking process of this regime. Washington seems to have the mindset of winning and winning now? Whether that happens remains to be seen. Buffalo seems to have the mindset of lets wait, evaluate, develop and try to win in 3 or 4 years? Guess, this is OK if you really do win in 3 years. I am afraid we will be waiting and waiting and waiting... What do you guys think?

I am a devote Bills fan too. I respect your viewpoints and your positive outlook for this season. I am hopeful as well. I would love nothing more than a playoff appearance and more. However, I am more of a analytical fan who looks at the "whole picture." Bottom line, I just don't think we have good enough players to win against good teams. Time will tell...Hope I am wrong.

8 in the box will still trouble Bill's Offense

Good post, I agree with what you siad and how you said it. -
Good post and I agree. Teams are going to stack the box and force us to beat them with intermediate and long passes. I am not too confident our QB (whoever it is), our OL, and WR can be productive. Skeptical but hopeful.
-
If I were Chan Gailey I would ask: (1) Why do I think I can win games with unproven and a sub par QB? (2) Why didn't I address fixing my weak offensive line? (3) How and who am I going to throw the ball too? (4) How can I get a pass rush on opposing QB's? (5) How am I going to stop the run? (6) What am I going to do when opposing defenses "stack the box" and the DB's "squat" on my short routes? How am I going to beat this defense? If I were Chan Gailey, I think I would have a "huge" headache...

mpl6876 replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been saying this all along. I just don't know how Gailey is going to beat this defense. I would like to hear some others input on how the Bills with a weak QB, OL, and WR are going to beat this defense. Any suggestions? To imply Gailey is an offensive guru just doesn't cut it for me.....Give me some hope.... -
2010 Bills: Better out of the box?
mpl6876 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thurman, I am a former gloom and doomer now trying to be an optimist. Perhaps, I am in denial. Reluctantly, I agree with your post. -
Good post Bill, Lets wait and see. I was a doom and gloomer and now I am thinking more positive after reading so many positive posts here. I think the Bills can make it to the AFC championship game. I believe Coach Gailey has the smarts, schemes, and magic to get the most out of all his players. Once we win the opener and gain confidence and believe there will be no stopping us. We will get on a roll all the way to the playoffs. Predictions: Spiller roookie of the year. Edwards pro bowl QB. Has QB rating of 125 or better. 8 games of 300+ passing yrds. Throws 25 td to 5 ints. Evans 13 td receptios and a pro bowl Jairus Byrd pro bowler with 10 ints Gailey coach of the year. Poz leds team in tackles pro bowl appearance. Troup has monter year. Maybin leads team with 12 sacks. Nelson has monter year with 8 td catches. Gotta believe....Go Bills!!!! Doom and gloomers don't rain on my parade. All positives may way!!!!

11-5 and on our way to a playoff birth...Go Bills -
I am ok with eaither guy starting at LT. I don't think we have a big need there. Meredith or Bell are very capable players. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them makes the pro bowl. I think Gailey can work his offensive magic and hide any weaknesses these guys have.

I can't help it. I'm really pumped for this season.

Thanks Billsrus, after a "long tongue lashing" from the posters, I have decided to be positive and think positive. I am not going to lie it's hard and sometimes I resort back to my old ways. I found out it is more fun talking and thinking positively. I am tired of pissing on everyone wheaties... GO BILLS!! -
Which Bills QB is most popular amongst fans right now?
mpl6876 replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like how coach Gailey has been so successful with other QB's who aren't half as talented as Edwards. There is a strong chance Gailey can "work his magic" and make Edwards a pro bowl caliber QB. From here on out all positive thinking...... -
Heck, why not say the Bills are going to the superbowl?

Ex doom and gloomer here. Previously, thought Bills would be like 4-12. Now, I love all the positive talk about the Bills. I really can see this team going to the playoffs and winning the AFC title. I am so pumped about this season. I think Gailey is going to be coach of the year. Call me crazy if you want. Gailey will make this offense click even if we don't have a QB, OL, and WR's. Chan is a winner and he has a system that cannot be stopped. Plus, he will motivate and get the upmost production from his players. The Bills are going to "shock" everyone. Love all the Bills supportive fans. GO Bills -
Didn't Joe Montana win a superbowl

Alpha dog I usually like your posts but that one in question had a lot of inaccurate info. Rabbit, you could have been nicer though. So both of you are partly to blame. Lets talk football guys... GO Bills -

Long winded post and stating the obvious. Of course competetion is the best... -
How desperate are we as fans when we are hoping that Brohm is the answer? I guess we (myself included) are quite desperate for quaility production from our QB spot. I suppose most of us aren't happy with FITZ or EDWARDS. I still am "hoping" Edwards can develop under Gailey. I believe Fitz is a backup QB who isn't a long term solution. However, I do think he gives us the best chance to win this year based on his willingness to throw the ball downfield and his command presence. He doesn't play scared but he is god aweful inaccurate at times. Brohm does anyone really know? Answer: he has been a bust or close to it. As stated many times here, he was beat out by Flynn a 7th round pick. Flynn IMO wasn't even that good in college. That has to tell us something right? Yet , we are all hoping he is the answer... No Clausen, No Jason Campbell, No Donavan, No Mcoy, ETC . We have had our chances to upgrade but...Next years draft hopefully will produce our franchise QB. Hopeful Bills fan
-
I agree with your post. I am hoping that Gailey can bring back the start of 2008 Edwards. He had confidence, poise, timing, and command of the position. I think Gailey can restore Trent and make him a pro bowl QB. Fans lets think positive instead of negative. The negative stuff gets old even if its valid. Lets have the glass half full not empty. A former negative poster who has transformed.
-
Meredith is going to be the starting LT. I think the guy has great potential and coach Gailey can see that. I believe he is content to stick with him and watch him develop. By the end of the year, he will be recognized as a strength of our O/L. We don't need Gaither/Adams/Mcneil/ J. Brown. This guy is going to be a stud not a dud. Give him time and be patient. I love the direction of this new regime.
-
I think the guy is going to be the next Tom Brady. He looks strong, smart, dedicated, and talented. I think Nix/Galiey just hit a "home run." A 7th round steal franchise QB that will be talked about for years to come. Call me crazy but gotta believe......GO BILLS.

Nix and Gailey say 3 years? Really where did you get that from? I think many of us believe we can win now and maybe even make the playoffs.
