I am offended by your invocation of the Holy Son to this argument! Have you ever spent time in church? I have not told anyone what should or should not offend them. Kidding aside, you are absolutely right about one thing. The Native Americans have been through enough. Too much. I actually agree with nearly everything you said. I was simply illustrating ANOTHER example of this beautiful and honorable race of people describing THEMSELVES with the English words in question. Are English words (Redskins) more impactful, or hurtful than Choctaw words (Oklahoma, i.e. Red People)? They are just words.

Oklahoma is a Choctaw word that means.... wait for it... RED PEOPLE. And our state flag has a bison hide, and eagle feathers (OMG! protected species)...and a pipe. A PIPE PEOPLE! Oh the horror!!!

Tahlequah is awesome! I go there at least once a year for a family canoe trip down the Illinois River. Also nearby is a beautiful lake and, IMO, some of the best scenery in Oklahoma (it is a low benchmark, but nice nonetheless). Small college town with a large Native American population - there are plenty of unusual characters there as well. We are already planning our Labor Day weekend there. How is something that you have to pay for monthly a human right? Is cable TV a human right too?

Well, I do live in Oklahoma, so yeah I know some OU fans. My point was that the "Sooners" illegally jumped the gun before the land-run to get first dibs on parcels of land that were originally allotted for the displaced Indian refugees. Many of the skins that I know, cheer for the team with an outlaw mascot that helped push the Indians off their land, again. And yes, they often refer to one another as skins when speaking in the third person. For the record though, I am an OK State fan second, Bills fan first!

I am partial Native American. My ex wife is NA. My kids are > 50%. Not counting them though (they don't care), out of the four 100% bloods that I asked, one answered yes, it offends him mildly. The others either don't care, or actually cheer for The Washington Redskins. I know a lot of Native Americans. I would estimate that 95% of Native Americans that I know are OU Sooner fans - think about that!

Mankind is weird. We build machines to build other machines that we used to build ourselves. How is this progress? Btw I hate the term "robot" as it is commonly used nowadays.
