  1. Peters is a smart player. The NFL has the shortest careers going. Voluntarily getting paid below market value while playing next to a Guard getting that ridiculous contract on a bad football team would make him a moron. Fred Jackson is a class act and that got himself where? He was injured, the Bills still stink, when he did play he was not as effective and now he will see less playing time and likely has seen his last NFL contract. He conceivably lost money to look good to fans like you. 10 years from now he may wish he did things a little differently in an industry that views him as a perishable item/liability. If Peters would have continued to play out that bogus contract for the Bills while sustaining his achilles injury he would likely be finished in the eyes of the league.
  2. Peters should have gotten a proper contract when he was here. Dockery was a disgrace and was getting paid millions to suck. Why wouldn't Jason Peters desire real money compared to what Dockery, a below average guard, was making at the time. Marv invested POORLY in that O-line and it prevented the team from signing Peters to a proper contract commensurate with his on field performance. Peters at LT and Cordy at LG would be a force. I wish Peters well this season. As for his attitude, I leave that subject for the women folk to kick around. I work with some exceptional people that have massive egos, they are quite easy to manage if your focus is on getting RESULTS.
  3. Picking any QB in the draft at any point that you don't think has the legitimate upside to lead a championship run is a wasted pick. A first round QB who can't cut it becomes an expensive back-up. Unlike the other skill positions you get virtually no on field value from a #2. The league is filled with WRs, CBs, RBs, and LBrs that are #3 or worse on their respective depth charts that still can contribute positive plays in their limited roles. As a #2 QB they tend to contribute very little to any Super Bowl effort with very few exceptions. As for Kaepernick he is clearly a good starting QB that emerged from a back-up roll. The thing is though, the 9rs drafted him with the belief that he could get it done and posed little risk being picked #3. For the Bills to draft a QB at 8 just to pick a QB would likely lead to a Losman type of pick-up. Manuel is the only QB I like in this draft and I think he is a second rounder at best, although he is likely to go early based on the desperation for QBs by most teams. With Kolb and Jackson, the Bills at the very least have 2 QBs that have experience with West Coast terminology and concepts to get through the season and help install the offense.
  4. Kolb knows the West Coast playbook and made plays downfield for the Eagles. In a run-centric West Coast attack he might play well.
  5. McShay is a moron. The Bills will not be going O-line at #8.
  6. They say you are what you eat.
  7. Considering how close to the cap most teams are, this is a non-issue. If there were franchise QBs available then spending would be different. For every new QB that gets a big contract, there is that much less to spend on the other positions. QB salary trends and the 90% of the cap rule doesn't leave much room for big contracts on above average players.
  8. This is identical to Gailey's first year. Try to bottom out by purging the lineup and save the cap space. It is Deja Vu all over again. After the draft is when they will go bargain hunting and that will be that for 2013.
  9. Glenn is a Tackle. There will be Tackles in the draft that will translate well to LG that are big and have good feet for the position. They can be had outside of the first 2 rounds.
  10. It's funny how few posters have responded to this thread. With all the 4-3/3-4 panic and "we need a big NT pleas" you would think that an article like this would be of interest and worth a response. These articles are pure gold.
  11. Since you are using "we" so much, you sound as if your part of the problem. Tell Buddy what time it is.
  12. Who's Jimmy Clausen?
  13. Given the team's QB situation and new coaching staff, there is no need to cough up 8 million a year to any player. This offseason is starting off in a similar fashion as Gailey's first year. Save money, cut the dead weight, no big contract extensions.
  14. They missed the playoffs in 2008 without Brady. Super Bowls define QBs, which then defines the PERCEPTION of the coaches. The genius references and HOF inductions for coaches are based on perceptions of their influence on HOF QBs when they win the big game. Don't confuse the tangible result of a great QB leading his team to a Super Bowl win with vicariously anointing their respective coaches as genius's. Although they might be, it is still quite speculative and an unprovable claim. If I had a choice between Belichic and Brady I would chose Brady. But that is just me. I am obviously no genius either as I am a Bills fan to the bitter end.
  15. The first thing that seems consistent after all these years is that whenever Brady makes it through an entire season as a starter they seem to make the playoffs. The second thing is that whenever a starter would go down, his backup would come in the next week and they would feature them. Graham and Watson would miss time at TE and they would feature their no-name back up. They always goy the guys you wouldn't expect involved in the game plan and if they got open Brady would put it on them. They do it at RB year after year. The Bills of the last decade coddle the young players and don't find ways to utilize them early in situations that would mitigate their inexperience. You have to throw young players in and call their number to go make a play on the first play of the game, early and often, not down by a score late in the fourth. Spiller should have been forced into ever game to take his lumps and get it going. You can't coach as if you're scared of your own players. Take Aaron Williams last year. If he is gonna get burned playing off and soft. Get him up on the line and press. If he gets burned on that send him on a blitz to the QB. We have the corners to get after the QB and didn't even try. Straight B******t! Lee Van Cleef once told me to "expect the unexpected". My rant is over. Good night.
  16. Fitz had every opportunity in the world to prove that he could earn that contract. A man must know his limitations and be honest with himself above all else. I wish all the luck in the world because he's got heart. His limitations at QB are physical. It is what it is. It might be wise for him to put his mind to better use in another career before he really gets hurt.
  17. It will be nice to root for Welker for a change.
  18. Another Holy Roman Emperor.
  19. He is big and quite strong at the point of attack.
  20. Levitre is a Titan now. Get over it already.
  21. Mario is our best defensive player and it isn't even close. In a proper system that moves him around he will make an impact all day, especially when others are blitzing. Take it to the bank.
