  1. One aspect of the Jets and Bills that is totally different. Rex has been the HC of the Jets for a while now and is fighting to keep his job. The play calling on both sides of the ball reflects this fact. Thus, a lot more is being put on Geno's plate as a result from week to week. The kid has obviously stepped up. The Bills on the other hand have a HC that is not going anywhere any time soon, and as a result, appears content to focus on establishing the overall identity of the team with an eye for next year. That identity is to be a physical, uptempo, downhill running team that can stop the run. Much more has been put upon Geno in the play calling than Manuel at this point, leading to more of a feast or famine situation for Geno. These QBs are 2 different fish in entirely different fish bowls. I'll wait to pass judgement on who is better.
  2. The Pats pass to set up the run. The Bills run to set up the pass. The Bills have faced 8 in the box most of the season and still ran fairly well. Unless the Bengals put 9 in the box the running game should be consistent with recent history. As for the defense, the Bills have a much better defense than the Pats since Wilfork went down. I can see the defense scoring at least once for the Bills. If Thad can hit a few deep passes, all will be right with the world come Monday.
  3. Unfortunately, the Bills have to get rid of Byrd at this point. His value over the next few weeks is as good as it's going to get. After the trade deadline then what? Franchising him again next year would make absolutely no sense unless he were to show Ed Reed level skills to finish the year out. I just don't see that happening. The Bills need to take the best offer regardless of what it is and have their closure.
  4. Now is the ideal time to trade him. The season now has a complexion, Byrd is finally ready to step on the field, and the Bills pretty much know where the season is headed and have a grasp on who they already have on the roster at safety. The Bills clearly don't want to franchise him next year, and Byrd will get his little audition for his new team in the coming weeks. Given the uptick in play from the secondary as a whole, I just don't see any reason to lock up big money in a safety when the Bills need to get some serious help on the offensive side of the ball before next September.
  5. Great analysis, but in the end these are rookie mistakes. As for being injury prone, I think that players who don't get injured are the exception, not the standard. Most players have numerous surgeries at the end of the season that never make it to even the local medias attention. Playing the game is not proof that a player is not injured. Look at the lack of press coverage in the game. Why? Because Leodis and Williams are playing injured, and it showed.
  6. Just my opinion of course, but I think that they are getting just about all they can get out of Chandler. As another poster already mentioned, he gets open only when the defense ignores him. He gets no separation unless he is working inside and underneath against some zone.
  7. I am fine with watching Tuel learn the game the hard way. I bought the Sunday Ticket to watch the Bills, and if they are on the schedule, I will be watching.
  8. If everything with Byrd is legit and all of this working past the pain stuff has been the honest truth, then an extra week of feeling good and practicing with the team is the best thing for all parties. We shall see. Reading to much into Marrone's explanation is a waste of time as it falls in the realm of infinite guesses for me, not my bag.
  9. I want to see this team win a Super Bowl. I don't care how it's done, how it looks, or who does it. If a true stud coming out of college is available next year when the Bills pick, they should strongly consider it until someone proves that they are a franchise QB. I like EJ, but I like the Buffalo Bills more. Until he proves that he truly is the man, the FO should continue their due diligence and seek one out. QB controversies are fodder for news papers and talking points amongst fans. When they legitimately happen, it's usually because both QBs aren't good enough to begin with. The cream will always rise to the top, when it doesn't, you obviously don't have any cream. Looking at the teams that have won Super Bowls in the past decade, they generally have QBs that are far superior to their backups. Just win baby! Go Bills!
  10. I will admit to my bias. Kiko's hit on Hoyer was awesome and effective. The low hit on EJ's knee was a punk cheap shot. If anyone is going to do the crippling, I want it to be the Bills. S***w Cleveland, the playoff rematch will settle this one.
  11. This team is heavily relying on rookies right now, from Russ and Whaley right on down to the bus driver. This year will be a very long breaking the ice period. There is an identity being built and it will take a little time. Fortunately I am young. Go Bills!
  12. The Bills should have come into this game running the spread to attack all of that predictable 8 in the box garbage the Browns ran. They just kept running it into the teeth of their defense until it was a predictable 3rd and long, in which case the Browns just teed off. Hacket is calling the type of game that will get everybody hurt, including his own defense.
  13. Hacket's predictability defeats the very purpose of running the no-huddle. All I see is an up-tempo Steve Fairchild. I am going to try to not hang myself off the shower rod tonight. You said it, he is a terrible play-caller.
  14. Hat on hat all day, all night. The Browns are headed for a fright.
  15. I definitely agree. Regardless of Mario's contract, I am thrilled to watch him play for the Bills. I really think that the Browns are gonna get humiliated tonight. Go Bills!
  16. These 2 examples that you give have way more to do with the evaluations of 2 separate GMs on his value than on the current quality of his game. In many ways, it would be interesting to see what fans think of players and coaches if the financials were successfully kept confidential.
  17. This says it all. Mario is far more disruptive overall, down after down, than most of these other premier DEs and OLBrs. Playing the run at his level is proving to be a thankless job for some fans. To appreciate what he is doing this year, you really have to zero in on the guy for an entire drive. It's impressive. The man is working.
  18. In about 4 weeks, the Bills secondary is going to look invincible barring any additional injuries. Even out of the dime, they can match up well in man coverage and do some exotic pressures. This defense will be playing much better overall by the time they play the Jets again. I predict that Thanksgiving 2013 will feel especially sweeter than usual.
  19. I would like to see the Titans lose the rest of their games this year.
  20. Lots of draws and lots of play action with more read option.
  21. A wise man once said that the problem with taking time away from work is that they may find out that they don't really need you. Byrd is in a murky space right now.
  22. They took a few drawn out knees. They burned a few extra seconds in doing so and drew a personal foul which sealed the game. The scheme worked, what else is there to say?
  23. This thread seems to be about finding every possible reason to blame everyone but EJ for last week's offensive woes. EJ missed guys that were open, and/or didn't throw to guys that were open. It's that simple. It's not complicated. He will learn.
  24. It pains me to say this, but Hacket would learn a lot by watching film on Chan's usage of RBs.
  25. September football is great, but the season doesn't really come into focus until the beginning of October. IF the Bills can be 2-2 entering October then things may start to look up when the injured begin returning to the fold.
