  1. Beason will probably never be the same player he was after his achillies injury and not sure if Carolina would want to eat his contract
  2. The league doesn't care about players. Players to the league are just a product. If they can't or don't produce they search until they find a new product. Disgusting
  3. I know this we'd have a speed rec te outside of Scott Chandler hell we'd have like 8 of them.
  4. Keeping OJ on the bench would be akin to if the Vikings kept Adrian Peterson bottled up. Keeping Spiller on the bench is akin to the colts/rams keeping a faster Marshall Faulk on the bench. At this point we know Spiller is electrict. We know he's a pretty receiver out of the backfield. We don't know how many times a game he should be getting the ball but it should be well more than 8. If he touched the ball 20-25 times a game rush/rec we'd be in a much better spot as an offense than we are now
  5. yes plays do tend to get called on defense as well as offense
  6. saying that as a football player is as pc as you can get with calling out the coaching staff. It's the roundabout way of saying "we can only run the plays that are called" while also putting some blame on themselves.
  7. depends...If we start drives on our 15-20 the majority of the time...No. If we have good field position and start from our 45-their 40 then yes
  8. Fumble Express has left the building. Seriously though sad he got injured. In an ideal world we would've had a coach who could've utilized our best area of talent. We don't and we're stuck with that.
  9. They are. Yes he could be that good. We'll never see it here. I hope when he does leave he goes to an superbowl contending team. He could be every bit as good as Marshall Faulk was we'll never see it here
  10. Football is an excessively macho game. That's the reason most people watch football. To answer your question though is why fix something that isn't broke? Why change the staple of a classic American sport? It would be the equivalent of making being hit by a pitch in baseball an automatic run, or taking away fighting in the NHL. It might seem arbitrary but the kickoff is a staple of football. It was horrible when they moved it to the 35 yard line, and eliminating it alltogether would be even worse for this viewer. The truth is people like what they like. I enjoy football not for airshow arena style points being scored. I watch football for the same reason I played it growing up until college. I enjoyed hitting/watching people get hit. It's exciting and fun. From a players perspective special teams are not irrelevant. It's a way for people to make a name for themselves whether they're on coverage or return units. Running down the field with the only intention to knock the block off someone. Not many things in this world beat that feeling. Especially when it gets you noticed and increases your opportunities in other areas. Eliminating kickoffs would be a huge disservice to backup players hoping to make a name for themselves. As well as a huge disservice to traditional fans of football. Or put it this way. There will never be another Steve Tasker in the NFL. That is a huge disservice to any fan of the game who doesn't have the opportunity to watch that.
  11. Not sure where you're going with that either. RGIII was considered the #2 qb/player in last years draft. The trade itself was worth it. There is no RGIII or Luck this year. There's no reason to make a trade like that. It would be akin to the trade we made for Losman which set us back several years to where we are now. No need to repeat the same mistake
  12. This. I've always been on the mindstate regardless of what qb you draft it's best to have a smart capable vet backing him up/mentoring the young qb. Regardless of what qb we draft I'd rather have fitz be that mentor qb than the likes of Thigpen or Tarvaris Jackson. I've said it before I'll say it again. I would rather a young qb learn from the bench and the mental side of the game before he's thrown to the wolves. Regardless of a handfull of other circumstances around the league. Eli sat behind Warner most of his rookie year. Brady behind Bledsoe. Rodgers behind Favre. It took Brees years before he was good enough. Schaub sat for years before becoming what he is today. You have exceptions, but more often than not qb's have to sit and learn before they're ready. There is no RGIII or Luck in this draft.
  13. I'm all for upgrading the linebackers inside and out. I'm not for adding 35 year olds. Lets get some players who will be here 5-6+ years and be a centerpiece not other teams aged vets
  14. I believe the problem stems from we're near the bottom of the league in redzone rushing attempts when we have one of the highest ypc avg in short yardage situations. I'll try to find the actual stats for this, but considering how good our running game is and how bad our redzone offense has been it really makes no sense
  15. this is just the start. Prepare yourselves 10 years from now red jersey's on quarterbacks or the elimination of gang tackling and the zone blitz
  16. Exactly!!! I get you want players to be healthy, but its just getting to be to much. Everything that makes football football is slowly being stripped away
  17. The idea would be to remove completely everything that makes football football. The pussification of the sport continues
  18. The NFL these days is not a vertical passing game. Yes you should still be able to occasionally throw it deep. It's a low percentage throw that is not the basis of any good offense. Most great offenses now are are those 7-10 yard throws and all run after the catch. The day of the Long ball is dead. As far as Sanchez goes as a Jets fan told me yesterday. If Sanchez has great protection he can make plays. However when you take away the all world oline and need the guy to do something he can't. It would pretty much give us a similar less mobile version of what we have now. If we where gonna raid Jets offensive players. I wouldn't mind Dustin Keller to give us a good receiving te to pair with Chandler.
