Just my opinion. I believe Phillips fell because his combine numbers aren’t great and he’s smaller but will be a stud nickel corner in this league that can play outside. His instincts are starting level day one but you’re right it’s not an immediate need. Wilson is a special WR but because of the cloud surrounding his injury history and he never put up the numbers because of it but he was the best WR at the senior bowl with good route running and WR1 upside.

I slept and have a cooler head today. I absolutely still LOVE our first 2 picks as they immediately help Josh and the offense. Now to the 3rd round: Beane screwed up (period) Williams is a fine LB prospect and as a player I actually like his potential BUT it was a reach and still feels like a move Beane made because McDermott was in his ear instead of sticking to his board. I didn’t want a LB at all in the 3rd round because there were and still are better players at different positions with higher upside and imo more immediate impact to the starting lineup (not special teams again McD). I would’ve understood trading our 6th to move up a couple spots for Simpson if they “had to” go LB at this spot because his upside is huge but unlike @GunnerBill I still don’t think it was needed because McD is going to be using Rapp a lot in his LB/S hybrid scheme imo. I know our evals on players are not the same but 2 guys that 100% imo that will immediately be impact players with high upside at their positions we’re right there for the taking in Clark Phillips III and Michael Wilson. Even if they didn’t like those 2 (which is mind boggling because of their potential to be stars), I find it hard to believe he didn’t have a number of O lineman rated higher on his board than WIlliams. O lineman that would’ve been long term starters when Morse retires and if Browns sucks again (Zavala, Duncan, D Jones, Vorhees, Freeland) If we somehow trade our 6th for Hopkins then all is forgiven lol but right now my gut tells me Beane got flustered and reached on a kid that won’t be in our starting lineup (hopefully I’m wrong) instead of taking potential stars (Phillips III or Wilson) or filling o line trenches even more when that’s where the value was

I want to like the pick but the facts are there were better players available that can be immediate game changers not back up LB and special team contributor. - Clark Phillips III has some of the best instincts at corner in the draft and would’ve played significant snaps immediately. - Michael Wilson has #1 WR upside and is already a very good route runner and if it weren’t for injury concerns would’ve went way higher (he was selected 2 picks after Williams) - Dawan Jones immediately challenges Spencer Brown for the RT spot - Siaka Ika immediately is a rotational DT on run downs who could develop to take over full time for Jones Even Zavala, Freeland and Duncan are all O lineman who could immediately challenge for starting spots Again I want to like the pick but it feels more like a McDermott pick telling Beane hey can I at least get a special teams guy here since we went offense last two rounds. Stay true to your board Beane you did great first two picks But I’ll try not be negative and hope he surprises me and actually does play meaningful defensive snaps and is not just a Milano backup and special teams guy
-
Seeing Michael Wilson get drafted a couple picks after we took our yearly 3rd round special teams contributor made me a little nauseous. Love Beane but someone else needs to handle our 3rd round picks from now on. He killed the first 2 rounds so I give him a slight pass but dude go BPA stop listening to McDermott about special teams contributors
-
Trying to not be annoyed because the first 2 picks were amazing but man we crapped the bed in the 3rd round. Who gives a rip if LBers were flying off the board. Stick to your BPA model. Is Williams going to really contribute any more than some special teams snaps? Probably not. You still have special players with high upside in Clark Phillips III and Michael Wilson on the board and a lot of O line that can compete for starting spots like Zavala and D Jones…just underwhelmed that Beane got suckered there. He’s been bad in the 3rd round
-
I get why he made the pick but we definitely didn’t go BPA there. They saw LBs going off the board and got nervous. Hopefully he works out but BPA would’ve been Clark Phillips III right there
-
I trust Beane this draft but if he’s not moving back with AZ to get Hopkins I’d want Clark Phillips III, Michael Wilson or Siaka Ika…I’d be happy with going more OL with D Jones, Freeland or Zavala too
-
Josh Downs or Michael Wilson are very tempting if we don’t trade a late pick for Hopkins
-
Man this draft has been amazing so far!! Somehow get Hopkins and I may have to go to the ER to decrease the swelling

Let’s do this fellas! I predict by the end of the night we’ll have an awesome O line prospect and Hopkins 🥳 even bolder prediction: Pick 59 - John Michael Schmitz OL MIN *Arizona trades Deandre Hopkins and pick 96 to the Bills for Ed Oliver and pick 91 and our 6th rounder Pick 96 - Gervon Dexter DT Florida
-
Idle Speculation on who will be the Bills Pick at #59
NeverOutNick replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree O line feels like the way we will go 2nd round and I’m really hoping for Michael Schmitz but honestly if they like one of the OTs better I’m on board there as well. Still dreaming that AZ says screw it and says you know what Buffalo, we’ll give you the Allen Robinson discount and you can have Hopkins for a 6th rounder Super stoked that we got Kincaid though -
I thought we might trade up with the Lions and take Flowers but once that WR run happened and I saw the trade up over Dallas I knew we were getting Kincaid and I was ecstatic. Josh gets his security blanket who has Kelce potential. Watch any film on this kid and you’ll see one of the only 2 special pass catchers in this class (flowers is the other)…now let’s get an O lineman in round 2 to protect Josh and trade our 6th round pick for Hopkins 🥳
-
He’s even got bigger upside than both of those guys coming out. He really is one of the few guys in this draft that pop when you watch them on tape. I don’t even care that he can’t block well because he’s going to pluck those Allen passes with ease as he creates his own holes ala Kelce-esqe, with his smooth route running and after the catch he’s got a little Kittle in him. After Flowers he is the most special pass catcher in this draft. Now we have to hope that Dorsey elevates his game this year and makes the best use of all his toys for Josh to play with
-
I actually believe him this time. Great pick. I was bummed when Zay went off the board but to get the best pass catching TE in the draft and a guy with Kelce type upside is huge for Josh. Hoping Dorsey can scheme it up because this kid is pretty special

Enjoy my attempt at getting as close as possible to what actually happens round 1 of this 2023 NFL Draft. Go Bills 1. Carolina Panthers – Bryce Young - Good job Reich and company, you guys got the only QB worth a first round pick in this draft 2. Houston Texans – Will Anderson Jr. - Safest pick in the draft. Ryans will scheme him accordingly and build the defense accordingly. 3. TRADE!! Tennessee Titans – CJ Stroud - Vrabel gets one of his OSU alum to head up his offense 4. Indianapolis Colts – Will Levis - This just feels like the kind of dysfunctional pick this dysfunctional franchise/owner would make. New HC has a fun project 5. Seattle Seahawks – Jalen Carter - Best player in the draft and the right team to take a chance on his character concerns 6. Detroit Lions – Devin Witherspoon - They're tempted to trade up for Carter but get the best DB in the draft 7. Las Vegas Raiders – Anthony Richardson - See Colts above. Have fun McDaniels, you probably won't make it through the season anyways brother 8. Atlanta Falcons – Tyree Wilson - Ownership tempted to take Bijon but Arthur Smith convinces to take highest upside pass rusher in draft 9. Chicago Bears – Paris Johnson Jr. - Fields gets needed protection from another OSU alum 10. Philadelphia Eagles – Bijan Robinson - This is just scary right... 11. Arizona Cardinals – Nolan Smith - Cardinals like to take chances on high upside players and need pass rushing help now that JJ retired 12. Houston Texans – Hendon Hooker - Tempted to have Texans tank for Maye but went with my gut on this one...It's the Texans, who knows 13. Green Bay Packers – Peter Skoronski - Get some protection for the 1yr trial on Jordan Love. Tempted to trade back so they can get another 1st next year for Maye 14. New England Patriots – Zay Flowers - Just feels right that the Patriots take the only WR I'm excited for the Bills to get in this draft class 15. New York Jets – Broderick Jones - Jets will actually try and protect Aaron Rodgers 16. TRADE!! Jacksonville Jaguars – Darnell Wright - With Cam Robinson being potentially suspended for a significant amount of time, Jags trade up for OT 17. Pittsburgh Steelers – Christian Gonzalez - He takes a fall to a team that will get the most out of his insane athleticism 18. Detroit Lions – Calijah Kancey - DT is one of the few needs the lions have and get one of the best interior pass rushers in the draft 19. TRADE!! New York Giants – Jaxson Smith-Njigba - A team desperate for WR help for Daniel Jones gets the slot WR needed to help him take the next step 20. TRADE!! Buffalo Bills – Jordan Addison - I don't want this to happen but again just feels like what will...Hopefully we don't give up too much for our new #2 WR 21. Los Angeles Chargers – Dalton Kincaid - Keenan is getting older and no long term solutions at TE, Chargers get the best play making TE in the draft 22. Baltimore Ravens – Deonte Banks - Feels like a baltimore corner. He's got great instincts and is a local kid 23. Minnesota Vikings – Joey Porter Jr. - Not my favorite corner but he's physical and that's something this paper bag defense needs 24. Washington Commanders – Emmanuel Forbes - Ball Hawk! If he wasn't rail thin, he would be taken before Gonzalez imo 25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Lukas Van Ness - The fall ends here and the Bucs are excited to have this relent"ness" force on their line 26. Dallas Cowboys – Michael Mayer - Need fits BPA. You're welcome Dallas 27. Seattle Seahawks – John Michael Schmitz - Seattle always draft head scratchers but in this case they get the best interior lineman in the draft 28. Cincinnati Bengals – Bryan Bresee - Tempted to take Gibbs here but Bresee gives Bengals much needed interior help on the D line and his potential is sky high 29. New Orleans Saints – Myles Murphy - Rumors swirling about Saints loving Murphy and he slips to them at the end of round 1 30. Philadelphia Eagles – Brian Branch - C.J. Gardner-Johnson's replacement for years to come. Man Eagles are killing this draft... 31. Kansas City – Keion White - He can play all over the D line and was invited to the draft so...why not

After the trade with Buffalo, the Arizona Cardinals select Nolan Smith, DE Georgia Arizona lost a lot in pass rush this offseason to include future HOFer JJ watt. The cardinals are hoping to have found a future star in the raw but insanely athletic Smith @HappyDays and the Bengals are on the clock at pick 28

TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27
NeverOutNick replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, the question was if we make the trade and get DeAndre Hopkins that’s why I didn’t think they would go back to back wide receiver, but I would be very happy to have Josh downs and DeAndre Hopkins. That would be amazing. -

We select Bresee at pick 34. Then take our O lineman in the second round -
TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27
NeverOutNick replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
this is the inside gossip of what the Cardinals actually offered: “You don’t have to do it this second if you want to see who is coming up on the board for the bills but the Cardinals are willing to offer you DeAndre Hopkins the number 34 pick in the 2023 NFL draft and we will eat $8 million of his $19 million contract this year by giving him a signing bonus before we trade him. This is the same amount it would cost us to release him outright so we’re ok doing it for: Your 2023 #27 pick in this draft and Ed Oliver” But after seeing flowers on the board and having him under contract for five cheap years is very tempting, even though I love DeAndre Hopkins -
I don’t see Zay falling this far but outside of getting Hopkins this would be the ultimate playmaking get for us, and I would be stoked to get him here

What are your plans for draft night?
NeverOutNick replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Took off Thursday and Friday and have my best friend, who’s a lions fan, flying down from Colorado to have a guys weekend with my other buddy Jay (Bills fan). Going to make my amazing chili dip! Going to be epic -
Your one, and only one, draft hot take?
NeverOutNick replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ll go opposite and say Zay Flowers will be the first WR taken. He’s who I want the bills to take but GMs know he’s the most talented WR in this class and he will go first -
Here’s what I want to happen: As the giants select the last of the top 4 WRs on the Bills board, Jordan Addison the Bills call up AZ and Beane constructs the following trade… Bills trade Ed Oliver and pick 27 to the AZ Cardinals Arizona prior to the trade restructures Hopkins original deal and gives him an $8 mil bonus. And by trading Oliver the Cardinals are taking on his over $10 mil contract which is roughly what would be left for the Bills to pay Hopkins this year. The Bills receive Deandre Hopkins and pick 34 from the Cardinals. pick 34 - Beane and McDermott can’t help themselves and take Oliver’s replacement Brian Bresee, DT Clemson. We finally have a DT under contract for 2024 and beyond pick 59 - John Michael Schmitz, OL MIN He may not be an immediate need but with the concussion history of Morse and uncertainty with the other iOL on our team he should be an immediate upgrade to whichever guard spot he wins and the heir apparent to Morse Pick 91 - Clark Phillips III, CB Utah again not a need at the moment but with Taron and Tre getting older and the Bills staff grooming Benford to be starting safety the bills select maybe the most instinctive CB in this class outside of Witherspoon Pick 130 - Blake Freeland, OT BYU he may be raw but he’s got the RAS/athleticism Beane craves on the OL and could develop into Dawkins future LT replacement Pick 137 - Michael Wilson, WR Stanford a lot of teams get scared off because of his unclear medical history and limited playing time at Stanford but the bills realize the upside and are willing to draft a potential #1 WR this late Pick 205 - Max Duggan, QB TCU the Bills finally have the perfect backup to Josh locked for the next 4 years. He’s nowhere near the talent level of Josh but plays the same game and in a pinch can win a game or 2 for the bills if Josh ever needs to repair his armor for a short period of time After the draft the Bills sign Zach Cunningham to a vet min 1 year deal to compete with Bernard, Klein, Dodson and Spector to compete for the vacant LB hole Edmunds left but McDermott already has a plan in place to use Rapp alot in the box, in his updated defense now that he’s calling the plays
-
Packers now have pick 13 and Jets have pick 15
-
I also offered the bills a trade involving Hopkins. If @Virgil is back tomorrow he will post I’m sure
