  1. I hope Allen turns out to be the best QB in this draft. Kind of ridiculous all of the hate for a guy who is basically Wentz (small school kid with great athleticism) with a stronger arm. Look at Matthew Staffords #s in college. He had better weapons (AJ Green the year he finally went over 60%) and went #1...The upside with Allen is amazing. Personal preference I'd want Darnold because of his crazy quick release (Tony Romo like) but Allen is a close 2nd for me (then Rosen and lastly Mayfield).
  2. Most likely scenario for top 5 is: 1. QB to Browns 2. QB to Giants 3. QB to Jets 4. Barkley or Chubb 5. last of the top 4 QBs to Broncos I don't want this scenario (I love the potential of Darnold, Allen, Rosen and Mayfield) but I'd be surprised if any of them fell past the Broncos. If by chance one did fall past Broncos #7 is the highest spot I think we could get since the Colts didn't want our boat load of picks for #3 (they know pick 6 is a good spot to get Chubb, Barkley or Nelson). I feel like Beane and McDermott get it and if they miss out on the top 4 QBs they know there is no point in forcing the QB issue on non-franchise type QBs later (remember Losman) in the draft. We stick with getting best players available like Edmunds or Smith at 12 and maybe even trade our 22 for a 2nd rounder this year and a future 1st/2nd next year so we have ammo to move up again next year or the year after for our franchise QB. Better to build the team up everywhere else and be patient with AJ at the helm than waste 4 more years (EJ Manuel, Losman, etc) on guys who never should've been drafted in the 1st round
  3. I would absolutely love this draft! Even if Mayfield is the 4th (of only 4) QB I'd want in this draft, to be able to get Edmunds (our Urlacher) that late, James Washington (love this kid) and Jewel! Great job OP
  4. Hey Bandit, what is your post called where you evaluate the QBs of this years draft? Curious to see the differences This was a nice write up especially the Mayfield, Rosen and Darnold evals but I disagree with Jackson's arm strength and accuracy, Allen's 3rd round grade (kid has all world ability), and Rudolph's decision making alone drops him out of 1st round discussion for me.
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymQgs7UwhOI This is the game highlights from the bowl game vs FSU. Not every play was a winner but it is So Miss vs FSU
  6. Here's the guy I hope we take late. Ito Smith was a do everything back at southern miss and although small he's pretty stocky. At the very least a great 3rd down back. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/137277/ito-smith
  7. Or hopefully none if we don't get one of the top 4. No reason to invest in a inferior product. Jackson is a less accurate and weaker armed version of Vick coming out and Rudolph is horribly inconsistent. Not sure he can read NFL coverages. Worst possible scenario If Top 4 QBs are taken before 12 (which is likely) and we don't trade up... These guys will definitely be off the board as well: Barkley Chubb Nelson 4 picks remain before our pick at 12 so hopefully those teams want the DBs like Fitzpatrick, James, or Ward and that DE Davenport instead of Roquan Smith and Tremaine Edmunds because those 2 LBs are insanely talented like Lavonte David or the Kuechly of our defense.
  8. I have a feeling this is how the draft will fall. Those 4 players will be the top 5 unless somehow Chubb is the guy at 2 or 5 ? I 100% want to get into the top 5 for one of those QBs BUT if we ended up with Edmunds at 12 like Mel predicts I'd be very very happy...especially if we don't waste a later pick on any of the other non Franchise QBs
  9. Great job I agree completely. In summation the top 4 guys are worth the risk and we should do whatever we can to move up for one of these franchise guys and not settle for any other QB in this draft. Go Bills!
  10. I'm really surprised so many are saying Jackson. Hard to picture any QB outside the top 4 having a chance at being franchise guys we can consistently win with the next 10+ years. That being said our FO didn't trade up to 12 for Jackson. I'd bet money he could be had at 21 and even then I'd pass on him (way less accurate than Vick coming out), Rudolph (looks the part but it's a mirage, very below average decision making...watch an entire OK state game) and every other QB past the top 4 in this class. If we're not going after one of the top 4 QBs (Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Mayfield) getting Roquan Smith (a Lavonte David clone) or Tremaine Edmunds (reminds me of Urlacher) at pick 12 would be amazing. Then we go BPA the rest of the way. We'll get our franchise QB eventually (hopefully we get one of the top 4) but no point in forcing it with guys who don't fit (i.e. Losman and Manuel). Hopefully in the meantime we have a better version of Andy Dalton in AJ McCarron.
  11. The comparison I made in my second comment is that they would give us the same result...neither is a franchise QB which is the only reason we moved on from TT and shouldn't draft Jackson. Next question... This is Beane's first draft as our GM. They have not done anything "because they listened to the fans" yet and I HOPE they keep ignoring us fans and they either go big (trade up for the guy they deem will be a franchise QB) or go home (stay the course of building through the draft until we get another crack at moving up for a franchise QB)
  12. I apologize for not elaborating on my TT/Jackson comment. I don't think they are the same player but I do think they will give us the same consistent result. They are both adequate NFL QBs but are both closer to bridge quarterbacks than they are to franchise guys. If you guys have watched Jackson play you know he's an unbelievably gifted athlete and the most exciting COLLEGE QB I've ever seen but have you ever seen him be consistent accuracy wise? He's very erratic and his arm strength is no where close to the guy he's compared to (Michael Vick). In the NFL I'd rather have TT. He's not as athletic but takes care of the ball and has great deep ball accuracy. All of this being said my original point was that neither QB is worth the investment of a franchise QB. This FO has been great thus far and I'd hate for their legacy to go down in flames because they listened to fans and settled on a QB they really don't believe will make this franchise a consistent threat for the next 10+ years. Like I said before if we can trade up and get the guy they think can turn this franchise around long term than I'm in but if not PLEASE don't settle for a lesser QB to invest in. McCarron is a fine bridge QB and we can build this team up (like the Vikes did) everywhere else until we have another chance at a franchise QB. Go BIlls!
  13. Why does this impact the Bills? I would be shocked if we were interested in Jackson. Why not just keep TT if that were the case. I have faith in this regime to not just take a QB for the sake of making the fans happy. If they see their franchise QB (one of the top 4) and can move up to get him then yay for us! Finally! But if the opportunity doesn't present itself I believe we will hold firm with McCarron (who could be a steal) and Peterman this year and build this team up everywhere else instead of wasting a pick on a Losman (only non franchise QB taken in the 1st round of 2004 draft) or EJ Manuel again. Great LB could be had at 12 with Smith or Edmunds. My dream scenario is we somehow pull a trade off with NYG at 2 and take our guy but I pray more that if it's not possible Beane is true to his word and doesn't waste a pick on a guy that who isn't a long term franchise QB.
  14. How would you guys feel if traded our #12, #22 and #65 for #5 and Trevor Semien? I like it if it can get us one of the top 3 (Darnold, Rosen or Allen...Mayfield I'm still not sure on)
  15. Looking at the last few years drafts and seeing the trend of 1st round QBs bust less frequently (Wentz, Goff, Winston, Mariotta, Watson, Trubisky maybe even Mahomes) I am confident most GMs are getting better at evaluating the position. I hope Beane and company are in that club...I love this draft much more than the last few years. IMO there are 4 guys that have franchise QB potential and I think we know the 4 (in order: Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Mayfield). We've been in this situation in the past (2004) where we didn't trade up high enough and we end up with Losman instead of Eli, Ben or Rivers and we miss out on Rodgers the following year. Lets not sit and wait for Rudolph or White or any of these guys who aren't at the special level the top 4 guys are at. Yes they all have holes (just like any QB coming out of the draft except for maybe Luck) but they have great qualities as well. Darnold is my favorite (We'd likely need to move up into the top 2-3 to get him)! He has the quickest release I've seen from a college QB and he and Allen are built for Buffalo. Both of those guys also seem to have great personalities that the team and fans will fall in love with. Allen has a cannon! Sure he hasn't played great competition but his weapons were subpar as well and he showed up in bowl season and at the senior bowl. He's shown he has the ability and has the upside of a Big Ben. Rosen scares me injury/personality wise but that ball comes out beautifully and what touch on those passes. Mayfield has the IT factor. He's smaller than the rest but that brett favre attitude and fight will have his teammates rally around him. I don't know if Mayfield and Rosen's bodies will hold up in Buffalo like Darnold and Allen's should but I'm still willing to give any 4 of them a shot because each is a franchise changing QB and that's what we need more than anything else. Trade #21 and #22 (maybe a 2nd next year if need be) and move up into the top 10 to get our guy. Please don't settle for Rudolph or whomever falls to us. I'd also love to sign a guy like Bradford to a one year prove it deal while the rookie sits and learns if possible (Foles would be even better but that would cost us too much). Go Bills!
  16. Byrd would be awesome and great depth. Probably have a shot at starting for sure and hopefully bring back some of his beastness he had here before
  17. 1. Mike Williams : Redskins 2. Corey Davis : Titans 3. Malik Hooker : Bengals 4. OJ Howard : Bills 5 Mitch Trubisky : 49ers Bills Pick (bonus) : Bills
  18. Watson doesn't make any sense for the bills. I like the guy and think in the right system he will do very well but he's not a fit for our climate. He's TT with a weaker arm. I honestly don't want any QB in this class but if they are sold on taking one then it might as well be on the guy with the best shot at becoming a franchise QB in Buffalo and that's Trubisky. I'd prefer to take either top safety (Adams or Hooker), OJ Howard, or try and trade back and get Corey Davis who can do it all at WR (not mike Williams, he's not a 1st round talent imo) or a CB like Conley who fits McDermotts scheme. Heck I'd even take McCaffrey based on value and he brings to an offense.
  19. ^ This basically sums up the way I feel. I don't trust EJ when there is pressure still and his progressions are still slow but he looked way more comfortable than last year. Tyrod is a playmaker and a boom or bust he could get us deep in the playoffs. Regardless next year we need to draft either Connor Cook, Boykin, Hackenberg, Goff or whomever else emerges because its a loaded QB class...unless we win the SB haha
  20. Good deal...love that Whaley and the gang are sticking to the gameplan. No need for a clipboard holding qb wait until next year for franchise changers like Connor Cook and Trevone Boykin
  21. Agreed. Better than a wasted QB pick. I like TE Walford later and of course we should get some competition at guard
  22. If this really is the dream of roman, Rex and the bills FO then I hope we wait on Trevone Boykin in next years draft instead of wasting a pick his year
