  1. Teams very rarely trade players for players in the NFL. What GMs value more than gold is draft picks. If people really want Donovan McNabb, they must realize it will cost draft picks, and valuable early round ones.
  2. I never said they were awful. Donte and Lynch are fine players. I said no one is going to trade us anything of value for them. People need to stop bringing up trade scenarios where we trade our mediocre players for elite talent.
  3. No one is going to trade for Donte Whitner. No one is going to trade for Trent Edwards. No one is going to trade for Marshawn Lynch unless it's for low draft picks.
  4. No, no, and whatever team is willing to pay him. Chicago and Baltimore are the obvious contending teams with need at wide receiver, but I don't think he'll be in high demand.
  5. Good point about former Bills head coaching failures returning to work elsewhere. An NFL head coaching job is an NFL head coaching job, and if available then yes they should take the opportunity. I just disagree that the pathetic states of franchises like the Bills and the Raiders in any way makes them more attractive to coaches due to their "ego".
  6. Ego versus financially prudent career decision and current contentment. Think about which decision you would make in your current career field.
  7. It would be an interesting article if it wasn't just a retread of everything Bills fans already know and discuss on this board every day.
  8. People (including NFL "insiders") have thrown his name out there as a possible candidate, but it's been purely speculative. I don't believe Nix has requested permission for an interview, so as of now it appears he either is not a candidate or is low on the list. I'm hoping they do give Garrett a look. If Dallas loses this weekend, we should find out soon whether they intend to interview him or not.
  9. I'm a big fan of Kurt Warner and want to see him continue to play, but if he were to retire this offseason, it would make it harder for Grimm to pass up a head coaching opportunity.
  10. Ah okay. Thanks for the clarification.
  11. BTW, for future reference, it would be helpful to have a more specific topic title
  12. Actually, no he wouldn't be willing to come to Buffalo. He's already been contacted and turned the Bills down (and the Seahawks).
  13. I'm not sure whether or not Frazier will/would be our best coaching option, but it's very disconcerting that the one and only guy the Bills have managed to interview will likely be our next head coach, just like our GM "search" consisting of one man. I didn't count the Guy/Modrak interviews for the same reason you didn't count Fewell (token interview. not the part about the fans affecting their decision). I also didn't count the Shanahan or Cowher talks because by now it's apparent that they were the ones interviewing us, while only using the so called interview as a bargaining chip, with no intention of becoming our head coach.
  14. I thought of the same thing after viewing. It could definitely be a David Leibe Hart song.
  15. Link? Grimm has said he would talk to the Bills after Arizona is eliminated from the playoffs. I'm guessing this is just your personal speculation.
  16. A lot of people are trying to use this as an argument against Grimm, but he currently splits OC duty for the Arizona Cardinals.
  17. Special teams were the one bright spot on the team during his tenure with the Bills and consistently ranked near the top of the league. One down year and suddenly, in fans minds, he stinks. I'm not sure if the new head coach would've retained him, but would've had the opportunity to do so if he wasn't fired by the organization before hiring a new head man.
  18. Cornerback wasn't a glaring need unless they planned on letting both Greer and McGee walk. I don't care what kind of misguided financial commitment they made to Langston Walker. He was a below average player even at right tackle and if the best available player was an offensive tackle, they should've taken one.
  19. Since Buddy Nix wasn't a member of the Buffalo Bills organization in 2008 when McKelvin was drafted, it's safe to say he wasn't involved in the selection. There were a lot of terrific offensive tackles to get drafted in round one of that draft. We really did miss the boat. Far too often we draft on perceived need, rather than having any kind of foresight. It's too bad this seasons draft doesn't appear to have that kind of depth at the position.
  20. Yeah, he's not on the All-Pro list, so he must stink... The true full time fullback is an archaic position in the NFL. IMO they should remove it from the All-Pro and Pro-Bowl ballots soon.
  21. Re-read the first paragraph that was quoted from the article. "Grimm's reputation as a coach grew quickly once the Steelers hired him. The Chicago Bears were ready to hire him as their head coach in 2004 but Grimm balked when told management would help him pick his staff. Gibbs wanted to hire him as his offensive coordinator when he returned to the Redskins in '04, but Grimm was under contract to the Steelers, who did not want to lose him. They promoted him to assistant head coach." He has been offered both head coaching and offensive coordinating jobs.
  22. Out of work head coaches aspiring to make a return to the NFL assemble a staff in preparation for an interview. It is in no way an indication that they've already been hired. Bobby April was gone the minute he was passed over for the interim head coaching position in favor of Perry Fewell. I have no idea why they chose Fewell to be the interim coach over Bobby April, who was already the assistant head coach, and who's special teams had been stellar (as opposed to our defense) every year prior to this one.
  23. If that's the major selling point, then why not just pick up a veteran QB like Redman or Batch in free agency rather than trading away draft picks when we have major deficiencies at every position but two? Besides, the QB teach and mentor stuff is BS. Quarterbacks nowadays get thrown into the fire and learn through experience.
  24. There's also potential for Matt Schaub part II. Obviously, it would be a risk and would depend on the cost. Schaub was a 3rd round pick and cost the Texans two 2nd round picks. Kolb was an early 2nd round pick, and would cost a lot more. A trade for either Kolb or McNabb of them wouldn't really work and I don't see it happening.
  25. The Bills aren't close enough to being a contending team for a McNabb trade to be worthwhile. This rebuilding process should be done properly through the draft. We can't afford to be giving up draft picks for players unless it's for a young QB of the future. I'd rather have Kolb, but the trade cost for him would likely be too high as well.
