If you don't like this years crop of QB's..
CarolinaBill replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
here's one SR on Locker Scouting Report: Locker certainly looks the part of an NFL franchise quarterback. He's got nice size, while not being so tall his footwork suffers. He's got great mechanics on his throws and does a very good job throwing on the run. But on the other side, Locker has some shortcomings to his game, that seem to show up more in some games, and less in others. He doesn't make great reads often locking onto wide outs, and his arm strength isn't where it needs to be. He doesn't put a lot of zip on his passes and is late making his throws, not showing good anticipation. Locker has a ton of upside that you can see in flashes during the season, and you have to think given time, he can become a great quarterback. This is really only Locker's first year in a pro style offense after playing the spread for his entire career, so you can see he's a work in progress. Draft Status: If you want to know what I think his draft status is a top ten pick in the 2011 draft. This year, I think his athleticism and potential will make him a first round pick, but I don't think he should declare at all. At the start of the year, many pundits jumped on his bandwagon(I never did) and declared him the number one overall pick, but his game has regressed to the point, I can't see a scenario that he declares this year. Another year in that system will show whether or not he has the NFL potential he seems to display at times. Having said all that, if he bounces to the NFL next year, some team will fall in love with him in shorts and take him early, and then wonder how long it'll be until he is ready to play. Final Analysis: I think Locker has a lot of the pieces that make a great NFL quarterback. His size, ability to escape the pocket, extend the play are huge pluses for him. He shows excellent poise and leadership and the ability to win with very little talent around him. But in terms of the basic fundamentals of the game, he's still behind some of the other quarterbacks in this draft. Faster reads, smarter reads, and working through his progressions needs work. And he has to get stronger. His short/medium throws need more heat on them and he must anticipate better. Reminds me of: Kellen Clemmens, QB New York Jets-I do think Locker is going to be a much better player in the NFL than Clemmens, especially if he gets another year of college, but if you look at their skill sets in college both are very similar players. Clemmens never got a chance to work in a pro style offense in college and that really stunted his development. Locker has a chance to come back for a second year with coaches who've groomed NFL players and it would really help unleash the potential he has. and here's one on mallet Scouting Report: In this day and age, having a franchise quarterback is essential to winning a championship. Looking at Ryan Mallett you have see franchise quarterback. He's a giant kid, with a muscular build and a cocky smile. When you watch him play, you see a ton of potential, and all the physical tools you want to see. He's got a cannon for an arm, and throws the best deep ball of any quarterback in the nation. He's got command of the offense, does a great job with reads and checkdowns, and has supreme confidence. On the other hand, his footwork is shoddy, mainly from his height and he has lapses in judgment that cost his team dearly this year. Oh, and because of his size, he's got very little mobility, and while he isn't afraid to step up in the pocket and even stand in and take a hit to make a throw, he doesn't scramble well and hasn't really shown that he can work well in a designed rollout. Compared to the other quarterbacks in this group, he's easily got the most upside, but may need the most grooming. But keep in mind he's only a redshirt sophomore. Draft Status: This is a tough call. I have a sneaky feeling Mallett declares this year, in hopes of an upcapped year, and before a rookie cap comes in for 2011. If he does, and he can work out well, there's no doubt some team will scoop him up in the first round based on his physical gifts and super high ceiling. Final Analysis: I've been on Mallett's bandwagon all season, so I'm not hoping off now. He's steadily improved all year long, and has shown some serious flashes of the NFL potential he has. When he's in command of the offense and in rhythm, he can make any read and any throw on the field. He's got all the physical tools you could want, assuming you don't want a guy who can run. He is working out of an NFL style offense and does very well out of playaction. I think if Mallett can get on a team where he can sit behind a veteran for a year or two, he'll get the footwork issues sorted out, and just mature as a player. The sky is the limit for Mallett but in my opinion if he wants to maximize his NFL potential, he needs to get out now, because we all remember the NFL potential of Brian Brohm and Hunter Cantwell until too much Bobby Petrino can ruin it. Reminds me of: Joe Flacco, QB Baltimore Ravens-Both are big tall, strong armed quarterbacks, and have similar strengths and weaknesses. Flacco had more college experience than Mallett but not against nearly as high a level of competition. -
frail, and thin, very much like a tall bradford, pike has never played an entire season to date, and despite what you would expect from a 6-6 QB, his arm strength leaves a lot to be desired. He was the 4th best qb on the field at the senior bowl, and thats not a good thing. PASS on PIKE>>>>Let's Get Lefevour

THE BILLS WILL NOT DRAFT TEBOW.....BECAUSE
CarolinaBill replied to BILLS_04forever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not Lefevour, he looked pretty good dropping that TD over gilyards shoulder -
yeah!!!!! thats what i'm talkin bout Lefevour time

Schaub turned the corner this year, btw, how did montana work out? Its all a crap shoot, how many 1st rd qb's busted during that time span he listed, and what was their collective salary in comparison to the 2nd and 3rd rounders?

Get off the McNabb bandwagon

Thank you, that is exactly what I was getting at, I'm glad somebody else gets it -
Get off the McNabb bandwagon

and like I said before, when the Pats were winning championships, how many high priced FA's did they have?, when they built those 2001-2005 teams, how was it done? Build thru the draft, low priced FA's and low tender trades. -

Im ok with bringing in a vet, but not at the cost of what mcnabb would fetch, or vick. No trading more than a 5th or lower for a vet QB -
I expect a lot of speculation from the fans I expect the coaching staff to do their jobs, scout players both college and pro I expect to see some bills personnel in Indianapolis specifically during the combine I expect a draft to occur in April, where despite all the time and due diligence put in by the new regime in picking the players, many people here will instantly second guess the collective wisdom of the entire staff, and proceed in calling for them all to be fired. I expect very few "experts" to give us a shot at winning 4 games this year And by the end of next yr, I expect a lot of people, both fans and experts, to feel like complete !@#$s
-
I cant believe they cut wendling, I mean the guy could jump out of a pool and land on his feet for christs sake!!! that talent alone should warrant him a roster spot, what ever shall we do without him. Such a loss

We should trade for QB Charlie Whitehurst
CarolinaBill replied to fairfaxbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whitehurst is awful, I watched his whole career at clemson, he looks like he'd be good, good arm and all but somethings missing, he's a rob johnson type guy, wow you one game then make you want to slit your wrists with retarded mistakes the next 4 games. terrible idea, stupid post, not gonna happen -
What would Bills fans say to ownership doing this?

welker was not a high priced FA, neither was moss. Both were trades, and they were not high tender trades at that, do some research. plax got the giants over the hump, but how many SB's did they pats win with welker and moss? thats right 0. Chargers, colts, and ravens are almost exclusively built on low cost FA's, minor trades, and good drafting. In context of buffalo trading for mcnabb, essentially the thought process is well trade 2-3 picks for 1 old player. so what 2-3 more wins, for 1 yr maybe 2, then back to the sh*tter, no thanks. I'd rather build my team the right way. Now, in the giants case, plax was the "missing piece" so to speak, but he was the ONLY big FA guy they brought into that playoff team. What I said, which Is what you obviously didn't COMPREHEND, was that the teams I listed didnt bring in MANY high priced FA's. MCNABB IS NOT A FREE AGENT, HE WILL HAVE TO BE TRADED, PHILLY WANTS HIGH PICKS FOR HIM, so IMO it is not worth mortgaging the sustained success of the future, for the possibility of temporary success now. I hope this clears things up for you. -

Get off the McNabb bandwagon
CarolinaBill replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pats, Charger, Ravens, Giants, Colts, all built from the ground up, very few high profile FA's brought in, most of their talent came thru the draft. We don't need Mcnabb, we need to solidify our lines, draft some quality LBs, and develop a QB, STOP LOOKING FOR QUICK FIXES, Mcnabb doesn't even want to play here, very few do. We have to prove we are a relevant franchise before we have a chance to lure in top flight vets. -

look here buddy, if we have to give up 2-4 picks that could help build a long term winner, just to get 1 aging overrated player then so be it. I mean look at his body of work he got to 1 super bowl and 5 nfc championships, he ALWAYS comes up juuuuust short in the big games, I mean wow, lets sell the farm to get this guy, now. Sure it'll only be a 2-3 yr short term fix, which delays the inevitable, but so what at least we might be a winner for 1 yr. NO ONE DENIES THIS!!! -

dude, if 18-20 mil is "out in the cold" then I'm snow friggin white. he's been VERY well compensated, and the fact that everyone has called him out for taking plays off, and only playing when he wants to is an outright shame. I understand wanting a long term deal, but enough is enough. Maybe if he played hard every snap, this wouldn't be a concern. -

CarolinaBill replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
again, totally agree, before he was traded I remember telling my brother that same thing, about dumping him and getting oher, and thats not to say Maybin won't turn into a good 3-4 OLB, but I was def. not on board with the pick. I am confident that chan, whaley and Nix will build this team right, there's a ton of experience in good drafting just between the GM and AGm not to at least get us in the playoffs once in the next couple years. and of course you can only spell great drafting one way L-E-F-E-V-O-U-R Sorry, couldn't help it. -

I can't help but think that same attitude was part of the reason clements and peters were both let go, yet both moves were met with criticism by the fanbase. I think when you look at drafting and resigning players to big money deals it's VERY important to look at a player like peppers as a cautionary example of the type of guys you ultimately dont want, that being amazingly talented, but also incredibly selfish. Cancer spreads on a football team, plain and simple. it's always better to just cut it out that try to treat the problem, ya know -

The fans would probably throw a bitchfit, but it's the right move, living in panther country, there's alot of fans that respect richardson for the way he has operated the franchise, minus the delhomme contract. Point is, peppers is a me first guy that doesn't fit on a team first team. He would be awesome for the cowboys, they're all about me first guys. Richardson is doing the right thing, and I hope if we are ever in this situation we do too. -
Walter football read on Clausen
CarolinaBill replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
too bad their mock has clausen going #1 overall, we get davis, thomas, and snead instead -
well what do those guys know anyway.... yeah I heard the same thing, kinda disappointing, oh well time to let ole' d.bell give it another try I guess
-
ya know it's really not as bad here as it is over at bb.com, it just gets aggravating when you are new and people either A: disregard your opinion because of your low post count, or B: cant construct a valid argument so they either insult and curse thru a keyboard or try to pick on spelling and grammar. but back to the point, I agree that the new regime will probably want their own guy, I just hope its the right guy
-
He didnt have any help in 2007 when he set all those records and went 18-1. I would more shame Belicheck than the players in that whole spygate thing
-
Ok, first off I like Clausen, I think he's WAAAAYYYY better than Bradford. The throw you are talking about I thought was from the opponents 42, making it a 50 yd pass, my mistake. I understand trajectory and zip, and I am well aware of clausens ability to put in in there, so to speak, however, his ability to fit the ball in tight spaces is still a question mark. When I talk about Lefevour and his abilities, I am speaking in terms of 2-3 yrs down the road, I have never stated that he would be an instant solution. However I do believe that he can improve over a 2-3 yr span and be better than both bradford and clausen in 5 yrs. Clausen, as much as I do like him as the other top Qb in this draft, has basically peaked physically, he's hit his ceiling, and both Lefevour and bradford have a higher ceiling then clausen, but since Bradford has legitimate injury concerns, I am leaning toward the most durable guy with the highest upside, and that guy is Dan Lefevour.
