  1. that they may need to report before the terms of opt out are finalized seems not ideal. you think in a perfect world the window would be a few days prior through a few after (can avoid showing up or can come in and see protocols in action if you want)
  2. May have lost the core Point of this thread at this point, eh?
  3. even controlled players can get sick
  4. can you imagine being the UDFA that opts out and then the policy changes and you want to come back in? No way the GM takes you serious after that.
  5. honestly I’m surprised we don’t see more bail after contract #2 when their grandchildren could live off their money but they are still healthy. Those guys that come full circle and finish on a bunch of vet minimum deals instead of chasing a passion project I don’t always understand. But it’s easy to say from such a huge distance. who knows, maybe a few of these guys either realize the gift of walking away. Or maybe they come back renewed.
  6. to be fair I don’t think 25k fines occasionally missing the mark dramatically changed most of their minds on anything.
  7. I’m the type to wait til the deadline for things like this, just in case something noteworthy happens. I’d expect most players not to rush their notice in
  8. Need 3 G’s for me to trust a Gregg
  9. While I generally agree, there’s FAR less stigma around this in A LOT of industries. It’s not near as limiting as it once was
  10. I’d assume it’s that the contract pushes back differently depending on if you opt out now vs various scenarios if/when the nfl pulls the plug. id assume in mongos tweet much of the nuance likely couldn’t be conveyed, even assuming he fully understands all the possible options (not insulting him, just never know how deep guys have gotten in it vs an agent giving them cliff notes advice or hearing bad second hand info from a teammate)
  11. he did not say they would likely Opt out. He said some players would likely have it as a consideration.
  12. Big ask but yolo is a rock star- any chance of a semi regularly updated list in the OP? Just easier than scrolling through pages of random tweets. Kind of like managing a UDFA thread.
  13. lots? Incredibly few, really.
  14. yes, and he’s not just a safety. As indicated by the draft slot, trade compensation and soon to be contract.
  15. and yet, for some reason, the professionals will likely agree with me.
  16. but being a guy that can be a hybrid that’s capable in coverage and in the box instantly makes him more valuable than a linebacker
  17. if you knew a coworker may have it would you be more comfortable being fully distanced 95% of the day with a chance you could come into contact the other 5%? seems easy to point out a steep reduction in risk even if not fully eliminating
  18. Seems the reasonable guess is with the square footage of some facilities there would be a disparity between teams that could and couldn’t socially distance 90 players. But just a guess.
  19. the 7 suggested are pretty solid candidates. I mean, do you really flip day to day operations upside down to get extra looks at ray ray or Bryan Cox jr? which the 10 is worth not being able to have Allen work with a potential standout wr or Fromm not be allowed to throw to the actual likely to be rostered guys ever?
  20. They do. But in comparing hundred, twenty and ten dollar bills (or loose change) it’s worth noting these are maybe more like 20s or 50s when a lot of folks are thinking 100s
  21. some of you are real silly with these salary cap concerns. Exactly. A pair of top ten picks is a huge gap from what’s likely dealt here. But we naturally jump to if it’d be a good deal in the lens of our last 20 years. I wouldn’t trade an 8 and 11 for him but a 27 and 30 is much more palatable.
  22. hopefully even in the 30s which is also why it takes 2 in many cases. This isn’t Jacksonville trading a probable top ten
  23. yea but LeBron isn’t just a player but a brand. LA is worth more than the taxes lost. the longer he’s here the more clear I think it becomes that the marketing department needs to align with tres and do everything they can to make him a star. Not just fun lil social media posts but lean hard on league partners for impactful features.
  24. If it makes you feel better you don’t know him now either
  25. im sure they have contracts in place with the stadium, convention center, hotels, tv etc.... that would be expensive to get out of this early.
