Football is the one true competitive sport left because the commish is forcing salary caps--something owners certainly do not want. Baseball has become pointless because of weak stupid commissioners, so Goodell deserves some credit. However this boner over killing excitement and individuality is straight up insane. As well as the decision to have "The Who" (quotes since--really, who are they kidding) to play the Super Bowl. But that's neither here nor there.

the NFL really has it out for Ochocinco. He's a solid dude that's good for business, unfortunately the NFL wants to pound the life out of the game. Guy wears a sombrero and gets fined $30K Trent Cole throws two punches and gets $15K, something not right there. personally I think Ochocinco is doing something quietly classy by wearing Henry's jersey--moreover I don't think any fine the NFL levels at him will change his mind. I say more power to him.

I had some meatball ask me to turn off the Birthday Party cd my friends and I were playing once. not too loud just too obnoxious, he said (in that way intoxicated football fans are able to break everything down into you/something you like being "gay"). We just told him to keep walking. moral: music will always annoy someone...especially fancy college punks with terrible music taste. but isn't that why we go to the game? though I do wish people could control themselves while drinking...and maybe not go nuts with the bass, but whatever.

The biggest D-bag I ever had in my class was a millionaire frat boy. I know this because he constantly brought it up. Meanwhile the dirt poor barely literate (believe it or not the barely literate get to go to college in Oklahoma) were always just the nicest most polite and respectful cats out there. Those who can buy themselves out of trouble tend to be trouble. i say lower the tickets to $10 and flood the stands with the real fans. And yes, I'm (mostly) kidding

Despite everyone going crazy over the O-line, I think getting a serious franchise QB needs to be top priority. cats like manning, Brady, Brees...all them, they'd be just as good behind our line. Admittedly impossible to prove, but I still believe it. We get a real leader who is fearless and can make quick decisions and we do A LOT better.

that's a kind of scary article--scary and true. When I was at OSU 600 million was pumped into the football program and I didn't have a chair in my classroom. And no AC in my office, which sounds like a luxury only if you've never been to Oklahoma. Actually teaching at a DIV 1 school is what turned me off of college football.

Sort of. I taught film and english comp at Oklahoma State University for three years; I can tell you that student athletes do not actually go to class or do anything. They appear on your class list but actually attend "student athlete tutoring," which is kind of not a real thing. In exchange for football they get a free degree in Communications. Notre Dame has been having problems mostly because the school actually makes the football team go to class.

i totally agree with your last point. Super bowl winning coaches tend not to be nearly as infallible as we would like. How many coaches can you name who won rings on more than one team? Not a lot out there. On top of that all the new hot shots are non-names. Folks would lose their minds if Ralph picked up an unproven Sean Payton type--but I'm all in favor of grabbing some ambitious young hot shot with something to prove. Jason Campbell though? I don't know about that one.

Hard to agree with a win over 2nd-3rd string Colts, but the Pats and a playoff bubble Falcons? With Matt Ryan probably back in the game? Then yeah, I say keep Perry and throw that $50mil into the front office and getting a non-useless QB
