  1. I guess I was holding out hope that he would be ready to shoot out of the gate as our #1 next year. Too much? I've never been one for just easing in...
  2. Ha, Kenny3000, you beat me to it. I wanted the quote!!
  3. 1. That will not be acceptable on TSW. Mistakes in your past are not allowed. Only Holy-Rollers need apply. 2. I'll pass. I feel Lynch will put in the work this off-season and run over a few people en route to 1,500 next year. My $.02. 3. Let me tell you a little story? I once knew a guy who could have been a great golfer, could have gone pro, all he needed was a little time and practice. Decided to go to college instead. Went for four years, did pretty well. At the end of his four years, his last semester he was kicked out... You know what for? He was night putting, just putting at night with the fifteen-year-old daughter of the Dean... You know who that guy was Danny? Take one good guess. Bob Hope? Ha ha... No, that guy was Mitch Cumstein, my roommate. He was a good guy.
  4. It would be nice to get him a few more throws. I really like what I have seen out of him. Could the perennial TE search come to an end? Why were Shouman and Fine starting over him? Stupar...really? I wonder what we are waiting for with some of these guys. Wouldn't it behoove us to have him on the field as much as possible? He has looked better than any of the alternatives, and he isn't going to magically comprehend the speed of play from practice, pads or not. Let's get him in there!!
  5. Bad news Brohm This kind of stinks... I was hoping we would get a chance to see the old boy. I guess we theoretically aren't out of it yet, so maybe things change when/if that happens? I enjoy the part about being able to assimilate to the offense. Although it has looked a lot better the last two games, I don't think we are reinventing the wheel here. My favorite part of the article: “He doesn’t take a lot of reps with our offense. He takes reps with our practice squad. As we have let him take reps he has an impressive arm. He throws the ball very accurately. He makes good decisoins when he’s throwing the football. When we call the plays he’s in tune with the plays and what we’re doing. So he’s an impressive young man from that aspect." PF Then, Per-Bear, what aspect is he not impressive from? That sounds like what we could use on the field. I don't want to take away from what Fitzie has accomplished (record wise) but I don't think he is the future, and we will no NOTHING about if Brohm could possibly be a starter if he only plays against the practice squad, which has to be pretty weak, since half of them are starting now! I am sure there are some thoughts on this....I heard rumblings that people were hoping that RF would go down (nothng too serious) so we would have to put him in on Sunday. That was pre TD run. What are your thoughts? What if RF did go down, we don't have to do the TE thing again do we? If we DO have to do the TE thing, what if he lights it up?? That is reaching, I know, but where do you go from there?
  6. The only stadium I have been to, NFL anyway, is LP... The crowd was REALLY subdued. It was a great game too (well, for 3 qtrs anyway,) and they were docile. I didn't see the see of day-glo yellow vests marching in to carry out the perpetrator, I am sure there were a few, but the fans were nothing like the Ralph. I have friends that attend Cleveland and Pittsburgh games, and there are a fair amount of arrests there, probably comparable. From friends that lived in Philly, I guess the Vet was mayhem on game day, I am sure Lincoln Field isn't far off. The had a JP and holding cells in the stadium, at the Vet anyway. It is kind of a shame the way some fans act...we had some d-bag with a Phins flag on like a cape, and he was being a tool. People behinds began to launch pretzels, peanuts, and other pretty harmless stuff, but it continued for 3 qtrs. I thought is was funny at first, but when the season ticket holders in front of them, with their child asked them to stop, they didn't. So, they were ruining a Bills fan's experience, long after the point had been made.
  7. Although I will not evaluate if PF should be our next HC without a little longer sample, I love this guy. I just like the spark he provides, and leaadership. I would love it if Mr. Wilson could spend $10 mil on OC, DC, GM, and maybe a FA. I don't think it is unrealistic that we could get away with this, and be way farther ahead than if we brought Shanny in. When Richard had finally worn out his welcome, all I wanted was the biggest name on the market. I am glad we did it when we did and didn't wait until the end of the season. I think we are getting a little lesson here, as well as having time to contemplate before the check gets written... Honestly, I have no clue which is the right move right now. I am falling less and less in love with the idea of Shanahan, whom I was never high on to begin with, everyday. I like Cowher, and I liked Gruden, although his exit in Tampa is a little bit of a question mark. If I had to make a decision, assuming the season is over, it would be Cowher or Perry. The reason is Perry can't really argue when we bring in a GM, which I feel is necessary, no GM/HC, please. He also doesn't really need to be consulted as far as OC/DC go. He just needs to be thankful he is given a shot. Interesting... Isn't great that there is something fun to talk about as a Bills' fan? The cloud has been lifted, we have nowhere to go but up (fingers-crossed.)
  8. Funny, I didn't think this guy got on the field enough for the TSW Scouting Dept to have a full read on him. Now, you might be on to something with moving him to OLB, somebody should have thought of that months ago, and continued to post about it everyday since. Maybe, just maybe, somebody associated with actually making team decisions has noted the points found on this board. It is hard to imagine though, because Jauron was very innovative and thought outside of the box all of time... If this guy was ever going to be good, I am sure it would have been in the combined two quarters he has actually been on the field. Pretty safe to say that he peaked and is only destined to decline from here. Age is also a factor. There are no really good DE's over the age of 21 in this league...He will be 22 come next season. Although I am sure Shanahan can exhume some former All-Pro to come in and take the position. Whatever we do, it needs to be fast...Schobel only has 25 years left on his contract, and Kelsay's is up after 2011. Honestly, I agree we need more pressure form our front 7, but in regards to Maybin, he was a project pick. I didn't agree with taking on any more projects, but he's here. I agree with the move to OLB, I think it solves two problems: A. Maybin's ineffectiveness against NFL OL, without forcing him to add 30 lbs, which is a tall order B. Our need for a strong fast OLB on the left side. I would have to believe that anybody that is a true football guy would be willing to make the change, barring the fact that AM shows up 30-40 lbs heavier at camp next year. We set expectations pretty high for him, which wasn't helped by his holding out. It is unfair to expect him to produce at his position with lack of PT, and his lack of size/strength. Jauron was like a black-hole, wasting talent, and at this point, Perry is fighting for a job. Besides, it is way too late in the season to put him at LB now, when he doesn't know the position. Patience, my friends. The guy is fast, and obviously has some talent. We need a coach to bring him along, and we may actually be happy with the pick (some of us anyway...some will not be happy with a significant contributor to the greater whole of the D, see Whitner, Donte.)
  9. Not only that, potent, high scoring offenses run by a quarterback that is allergic to losing are not fun to watch. Athleticism!!! That is what you need in a quarterback...regardless of things like winning awards, and championships, those things don't matter. What does winning and putting up absolutely disgusting numbers have to with anything?? Especially playing in the weak SEC, torching defenses that were filled with current NFL players. He also only dominated for 3 years in college, and he's a model citizen. Nothing here showing this guy will be any good in the pros. He ran too much!!! Quarterbacks that run never do well in the NFL. Guys like Vince Young just can't/won't cut it in the pros. I'd pass on this guy.
  10. I think that the former players being involved is a great idea. Football has always lacked the sense of, and appreciation for, tradition. It seems like nobody minded these guys speaking up when we were on team spiral. I think that their strong personalities, and a lack or precedence with former alumni being so active has lead to some misguided actions. Kelly didn't need to call out Trent. Although he stated the obvious, it was still in poor taste. Thurman should have been the bigger man and addressed this with the player directly. Maybe he should have looked at it from the player's perspective, instead of Tweeting it, and having his wife Tweet it, and leaving it open to speculation. I, for one, like having the core members of the greatest football team, I have ever had the pleasure of rooting for, around to help these guys. I was hoping that Jim would talk to Trent after the MNF game last year, and try to mentor him. These guys knew how to win, and as has been mentioned with Thurman, it wasn't always nice. Kids shouldn't be in the locker room, period. It shouldn't be a field trip. They should be firing the guys up, not looking to get the ring kissed. Either way, I hope these guys stay associated with the franchise, and mature into great sources of knowledge and inspiration for the current Bills.
  11. I like that! Hey Richie, I've got to try!! Too much information available... I personally have been given a migraine by the tool-bags on 550, two days in a row. I loved this morning, on Thurman's show, Chihuahua might as well have been giving slow-head to Marv and Thurm, while they both defended the late TD, which he and his girlfriend were slamming, as I'm sure most of you heard. Then this afternoon, Schlop comes in and he is right back to his tea-baggin' self, with the glib cracks and their "witty" banter, drawing on every negative they could find. Schlop, at the point I turned it off, was yelling that the fans were fools, because they were trying to believe in a franchise that screwed them. He was acting like we turned our back on him and his incessant negativity. He had his voice raised, as to try to explain to us, the mentally incompetent, that it was a "meaningless win," and only "hurt us in the draft." Well, for such an effing genius, he should have known that it didn't lower us in the draft, and if it did....great! Taking a dive for a draft position?? That is asinine. You play to win the game. Period. For a meaningless win, the Ralph sure was rocking, which and the fans were ecstatic on the way to the car, instead of the head-hung-low-walk-of-shame, while some douche fan of the opposition is all giggles, we have been enduring.... There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it isn't a train. I didn't mean to get of subject, I guess that sports reporting in general has me pissed off. I struggle to find an article or show, with any relevance.
  12. Exactly. A good life coach might do him some good as well. Benson is at a career high in yards at 859 and 6 TDs. Lynch surpassed both of those #'s in his first two seasons. This is another example of a player that IS, not could be, a star in this league that is not good enough to live up to the rigorous standards of some of the fans here. If he ran behind Thurman's, McGahee's, or Henry's lines he would have been a leading rusher. He is out of shape, and went through some PERSONAL issues... I would like to stress that he is 23. I bet some of the holy-rollers on TSW probably got into a little trouble when they were young, or at least made bad decisions. If you didn't, maybe you know somebody at church that has, and if the lord hath forgiveth, why not I? It is the league's job to judge and punish him not ours. We are supposed to be understanding, and hope for the best for "our guy." Personally I hope he pulls through, and he works like a dog to come back in top shape next year, and runs through, around, and over defenses. I, for one, will take time away from polishing my halo to go see him, and probably even pull for the young man to get his life back on track. I'll let Dolphins fans, and Pats* fans judge him by his personal affairs.
  13. That is funny... We are the last of a dying bread friend.... most of the Bills fans in this area are Steelers fans now. I know a few, but almost everybody is going to be watching at home. I am interested in what you might find out. I think Sidelines in Harborcreek will be showing it. That is close to me, if you think that might work let me know, and we'll have to see if we can't get a few backers together!!
  14. The top of the draft is filled with the same teams, year in and year out. I will take the 30th pick every year.
  15. Yes it is Lynch is a better natural runner than Benson. Missing the first 3 games hurt him. He is physically not ready to play. He will be back next year in a big way. This guy ran for over 1,000 in his first two years in the league...he is a true talent. Lynch is 23 years old. He is from Oakland, which is kind of a rough town. He has millions of dollars. I am from a white middle class family in PA, and if you game me millions when I was 23 I would have never seen 24. This guy bought a house in Buffalo, has tried to embrace the community. I think we should help him out and support him. I know he gets paid, but he is a kid, for crying out loud. The guy wants to do the right thing, he is just a victim of his background. He has shown grit for our team, and we turn on him... I know I am going to hear about the hit and run thing, but that was suspect to me. He was in a bad situation, and probably made a bad decision, but by the time Shoop and Bulldog and the rest of the alarmists get their hands on it, he killed somebody. He leaves, we will be sorry. Maybe instead of tweeting about being dissed, Thurman should reach out to ML, even if he is a little unreceptive at first, and show him how to be a pro...just sayin'. If you want to help the team, don't come around and expect to be pandered to. I think they should be respected, but this team NEEDS DIRECTION. That's been the problem for years.
  16. Hardy and Johnson can develop in the #3 position on the depth chart. If we are serious about making a run. I feel that you talk to T.O. get his honest assessment of the team, it's direction, and where it should go from here. I think you respect his fire, knowledge, and maturity. I think you make him proactive in the direction of the team, and creation of a potent offense. I feel that potentially being able to turn this team into a champion, if the team is exhibiting the desire to do that, is too great for him to walk away from. Think about it. TO knows his legacy. For him to slide in to a team that was already a champion would show that he had a knack for jumping on at the right time and going for the ride. Would it diminish his being a champion? No, but wouldn't it be much better if he was involved in the Richie J Regime and it's total ineptitude, then became a key cog in our turning it around? I think he is the kind of veteran that we need and has the kind of personality to help that happen. Win, win. Maturity? TO? Yes, he has matured. I always felt he was just an intense competitor that was cornered by media into saying the wrong things, or close enough to the wrong thing that they could run with it. I think his flamboyant, outgoing personality was taken advantage of. I am not saying he is a saint, but I am saying that he is what the Bills have been missing for a long time. Ok, so we offer him contract, respect and seek his opinion (does not mean we take his word as gospel, only show that we his view merits consideration) and make him a part of the franchise. If he doesn't like that because he wants to swing from Brady's nuts...Franchise him and trade him. He won't make waves because that will for sure be the end. If we are going to thrown $50 mill at a coach that hasn't been successful in 4 years, why not throw 7-8 million at TO, who has helped give our team swagger down the stretch? It is a worth while gamble. Reed will either be gone, or come at a discount. He is not TO and age is catching up to him. That leaves Johnson and Hardy, and despite the "HOF'er in waiting," opinion of Johnson, and based on what we have seen so far out of Hardy. You can't afford not to do it.
  17. You're right. He's a bum. You got the job, see you Thursday in Toronto. I might give him at least 2 games to see if he starts to make improvement. The lack of penalties in for the OL was pretty impressive, compared with recent games.
  18. Another defensive leader and game changer would be horrible. DW has made a big impact of the game the last two weeks. Although if we run him out of town, it would be good fodder when he went to another team and was a perennial Pro-Bowler. He may not have all the picks and sacks that make his stat line sexy, but he is an important player and key to our D's success. If we could get another player that to come in and contribute as much as DW, I would be happy. As far as draft position goes...you play to win the game. You don't take a dive to get a higher pick. It is funny how teams like the Patriots, Steelers, Colts, etc. continue to make their team better through the draft. They fill the holes on their teams and get stronger moving forward. All the high draft picks in the world haven't saved the Raiders, Browns, Lions, etc. A teams's place in the draft may involve a little more creativity to get a specific player, but a good scouting should give you multiple choices of players to make the team better. To instill a losing attitude to try to get a higher draft pick is Bush League, and I was a little shocked how much I kept hearing that in the stands today. You can read everywhere about all the high QB's that were busts, but I feel that had they been drafted into the right system and brought along correctly that Quinn (still time,) Carr, Harrington, Losman, and many others could have been good to great NFL QB's. If it was ever suggested anywhere that the team take a dive to get a higher pick, I would hope mutiny would follow. If we have a coveted player, we will just need to trade up, that's what teams that are building for success do, not take a dive to pick a spot higher.
  19. If I just read stat sheets and forum posts, and never watched a game, I would hate Whitner. I am not saying that is what is happening here. Whitner starts on almost any team he goes to. He definitely does not hurt our D by being on the field. I think the numbers would prove the opposite to be true. In regard to defending Marv...I have never really seen a strong defense of his being GM...it always made me sad, because it seemed like he only took the position to help out Mr. Wilson. I would guess that Mr. Wilson, who is from the depression era not the spend every nickle you have then buy it on credit era, was pinching pennies, but honestly felt that Marv could make decisions to help this team. I was reading the draft choices over the years all of the teams, and it is funny, because you could make this argument for any team. In fact you could make this argument with any draft class in any sport... It is not an exact science, but I think it is unfair to hate on DW because Levy drafted him. DW would start on almost any team in the NFL, I think he could be Pro Bowl material if he played all year. I also think that the 1.5 years Poz has been on the field, he has progressed nicely. I think Lynch is a great talent at back, and with a full season under a demanding coach he will produce numbers to prove this theory. I don't think the talent of these players is the problem. An effective coach will fire up players and make them play up to their potential. The Richard J Regime was not exactly motivational. We didn't get lucky against Miami today, we beat them. We did it with a lot of help from DW. This team shouldn't be 4-7, but they underachieved, because that was acceptable, DW no exception. After all it is hard to win in the NFL, that is true...but a good leader teaches you how to do that, prepares you for it, then goes through it with you. (see Fewell, Perry chest bump Owens, Terrell after a successful gutsy call, which his predecessor wouldn't have tried in 1.3 million years)
  20. The only detriment is not seeing Brohm. Fitzy is a serviceable back-up, and I would like to have him on the team. He is gutsy, smart, and can make plays that win games. Edward's is hitting the trail...there is more than we know, and/or will ever know concerning the resounding thud with which he fell from the team brass' grace. I can say that I feel, my opinion, that he tanked it in Tennessee. I know others feel that way too, but in my book that is your ticket out of town. We have to have him right now, in case something happened to Fitzie and Brohm, but he is a quitter. I liked him, I supported him, and I was wrong. I don't quit on this team when times are tough, neither should our guys... It would have been real easy for T.O. to ride out the season and skate out of town, and blame our obvious ineptness as the reason for his poor year, and who in their right mind would argue? He didn't do that, he isn't doing that...he is allergic to losing. I think Fitzie is the same way, and I love a guy who plays with that much heart. Heart aside, remember the play to Evans last week, the TD that got called back...that took everything Fitzy had to deliver that ball...it should have been an easy completion. He is not a tier 1 QB, and while teams without that guy have won, I don't think he would. I hope I am wrong again, but we need a franchise QB...the kind of guy that my kid wants to wear his jersey to the games 15 years after he retired.
  21. I keep seeing these posts about Polian/Levy, Polian/Dungy, and it makes sense, but doesn't this kind of cement the fact that a great GM trumps a great coach? I am simply asking the question. I saw a post, saying that Polian fell into great situations because Kelly was in Buffalo and Peyton in Indy, so before we give him too much credit, he was the benefactor of two elite QBs...he created those situations. If I had to evaluate a football player's talent, I would take Dungy over fan who posted on TSW. If it were possible, I think I would ask Polian above just about everybody else, assuming he had his staff at his disposal. I know people on this board do not like QB's that find ways to win games, a la Flutie. Tebow is drawing the praise of some pretty heavy "football guys," which I thought we all agreed was important to be when making player decisions. I would take a player that finds a way to win, over a guy who is supposed to be able to win any day of the week. We have tried that, and we didn't help those players learn what it took, if it is even teachable, to win. Winning, as motivation as it sounds, is an attitude. Our players don't know how to win, with one exception, TO. Mitchell is a winner, and he is out now, but you could see "it" in him. There are players with "it" inside of them on this team, and I think that Tebow would bring that out. Plus, it would have been a lot less painful than seeing Fitzy labor down the sideline on the TD run!!! If we get a shot at him, I say we grab him, but the secret is out and there will be teams ahead of us that need a QB, but I bet a good GM would find a way to move up and get him, if it means making the team better.
  22. Those two give me a headache. I am done with their whiny-ass assessments and worthless negative opinions. My favorite part was how they wouldn't let it go, kept saying that they were right, period, then would take a call, hang up, tell you they were right because they are good at their jobs, then say "I can't believe you keep bringing this up!" It was like arguing with my wife. So I just turned them off and jammed "Talkin' Proud" on repeat all the way home. I want to say this...watching Bruce highlights was F#@king awesome!! We need to really be the 12th man again. That does not mean a bunch of doom and gloom whiny a$$holes like these two jerks, but the rabid, uber-supportive fan base we keep getting labeled by the media in relation to HC job. I am telling you what, we don't look too rapid lately...we turn on our guys, we turn on each other, every play everybody is bitching, or booing... I was as frustrated as the next guy with the Richard J Regime, and I am not saying I was always Sammy Sunshine, but I realize two things: 1. I don't like being miserable 2. I, if I were talented enough to play in the NFL would not want to play in Buffalo...I am human, as are they. I make mistakes. If every time I made a mistake I had to deal with the negative s#@t storm in Buffalo, I'd want out. If I was in the area, and hear, as I am sure they do, what these two pencil-d#$ks, and Sully are saying about me, I would have to ask myself why I was putting up with this crap when I could work 29 other places, and stand a better chance of being appreciated or ignored? I drive in from Erie for all the home games, and listen to these guys once in a while on the way home. It depends on whose driving, because I won't turn them on, but tonight it started to hit me that they could actually be the source for all of the whining and negativity that hurts this franchise. When your local guys sound like they work for the opposition, it's time to switch the dial. These two take a call, hang up on the person, then bash them... I don't know about you, but growing up, I was taught that was a cheap-shot. You want to have an opinion, that is great, encouraged even, but listen to somebody else. These two hang up and then stroke each other off bashing the caller that was just on the line.
  23. There is a new treatment for that...and extended "Oh" face, or smiling like a doughnut. Anyone can hate when somebody else makes a funny post.
  24. Exactly...He is one of the top 5 at his position, it would be $$ well spent. Then, whether he likes it or not we have two serious weapons. Lee Evans is amazing as well. He gets a step and it's 6. We need a big arm, that can deliver the ball, and we have to have an actual game plan, that is designed to give the QB trust in what is around him. One thing we need to remember is Josh Reed is in the last year of his contract. Before it starts, I know we have Steve Johnson, I think he showed promise when he was in the game, and it would be nice to develop him and get he and Hardy involved. That being said, I don't really want either of them as our #2, or full-time #3. It might not even end up being this difficult...if the changes that are coming are as influential as promised, it may be a good time to be a Buffalo Bill....and a Bills' fan! Great win today, Go Bills!
