  1. Yeah otherwise Beane would have traded for him if he was target #1. He is a God, after all. There are literally a dozen better punters than Bojo still available..........this isn't like the drop-off from Clowney to Ed Yarbrough available pass rushers in FA.
  2. Wade.......LOL nobody was going to put him on a 53 Duke.......no takers Sills.........nope Yarbrough.........nope Murphy.......nope Those were the offseason/preseason heroes that the most fans were concerned with losing.............and none were claimed. Nobody was sweating ST Lacy who struggled in preseason game 4 or the oft-injured Lewis. Ray Ray is the only camp hero who was claimed and it was only because the Bills practiced with the Panthers and Ray Ray is a different player when people aren't hitting...........I saw it myself in camp...........he was poor in the preseason games when the action got real and otherwise would be here on the PS. He might be back in a couple weeks if he gets in a game and continues to drop the football. I've said it multiple times in offseason.......I expected them to be able to deal some of their bottom OL talent for picks...........I was right.........what else is new?
  3. Like I said it's very reasonable to suspect that there was some potentially fine-able back door dealing, IMO. I'm not sure The Pegs would sign off on undermining their fellow owners by circumventing the rules of negotiation that were put in place to force players to sign their franchise tender or else. That's a negotiating chip that the players just showed they can now circumvent.
  4. The only thing exciting about that team was the end of games(mostly before the trade deadline mistakes) when we got to find out which side of the coin Jauron Ball landed on that week.
  5. I wanted the Bills to get him too and I was pretty correct on his trade worth from the start.............but you are barking up the wrong tree if you think I am just discussing this because I am disappointed........I just find this fascinating...........and the fact that the "other" team that everyone knows cheats at every opportunity is right in the middle of it. One thing is for sure..........if ADHD was holding Clowney back its no longer a problem now that he's a Hawk.
  6. No doubt. But I think it was more the Seahawks and Clowney backing the Texans into a corner. One thing about any Pete Carroll lead organization is that they are going to break any rule they think they can get away with and some they don't if the fine is tenable. It's been a big advantage for them...........nobody plays both sides of the fence with players like them.
  7. Why exactly do you think he was so set on two random second tier contenders in cold-weather cities? They had expressed the willingness to give him a long term deal. Yeah he has to play well and stay healthy but he could also put up a huge season and INCREASE his market.............I just think they've agreed to agree on parameters. I mean why do you think the whole charade with the agent firing and re-hiring happened?
  8. Thurman Thomas had his moments where he looked like the Thurman of old in his last 5 years in Buffalo too. The bulk of the time he wasn't though. Same with McCoy.
  9. On the surface of it this is one of the most one-sided trades in NFL history. Texans somehow got less than last minute fire-sale value for Clowney and Clowney's agent no doubt negotiated terms of a long term extension while he was not "technically" employed by him. I wonder if Clowney was just anti-Buffalo or if maybe Buffalo was afraid to try to circumvent the rules to get his done. The Seahawks FO is known to be unscrupulous but all is fair if you don't get caught. We'd be praising Beane up and down if he did this deal. I could see Houston filing a grievance about this next winter and maybe even Seattle losing a high pick...........owner's aren't going to like this tactic..........the "no-negotiation after that point in July" thing is there to protect teams and force players to sign.
  10. Yeah there is a big difference between how the Rams invested and how the Patriots did. The Gurley contract is an anchor on the Rams salary cap. Their passing game and OL are so good that Senorise Perry could probably be productive RB for them. The Patriots don't spend money on the RB position as you have said but they have the luxury of literally being able to spend their draft picks however they want because they are so far ahead of every other team because they have the best QB and the two best and most impactful coaches in the league(BB and Scarnecchia).
  11. It was definitely a year late. Had Lynn been retained as HC his last couple years would probably have been a lot better(whether Lynn/Whaley took Mahomes or Watson or not) but that Roman system was an extraordinary rush offense.............on an average team McCoy is only going to give you average production or less and at just 190# that isn't very impactful. It will be interesting to see what McCoy can do against 4 man front 7's this year.........I hope he can hang around a couple more seasons and solidify his stats to sure HOF level but I somehow think he's still going to have problems staying healthy and honestly running against undersized LB's every play isn't as big of an advantage for him as it is for a bigger RB. The influx of undersized, speedy LB's really hurt Shady's game significantly in 2014-2015.
  12. Beane is taking short term deals to the next level so if you didn't like Whaley for it you gotta' hate Beane for it. We look at this roster and see progress but in terms of next year.........their OL and WR corps in particular are patched together with veteran free agents on short deals(or in Morse case a likely short deal). They are going to have their work cut out for them every offseason just fending off attrition with this many vet starters...........but as I said above that's a test that a good organization has to be able to pass. They certainly have the cap space to work with the next couple years.
  13. With all due respect Logic..........you really shouldn't be knocking anyone's take in this thread that you started it to crow about the entirely false premise "Bills have one of the youngest rosters" when it's actually one of the very oldest rosters in the league still. But fwiw........I really don't care how old the roster is and neither should anyone else. A stud QB and withstanding and still growing thru constant change on the rest of the roster is the key to sustained success in the NFL. Said it before........the Seahawks won the SB with THE YOUNGEST roster in the NFL and two years later they were back running with the rest of the pack. I give Beane credit for not being stupid enough to try to just patiently build his roster thru the draft.
  14. Yeah I see where the BB hype machine hooked you but after signing 18 veteran free agents I would doubt that they are now among the younger teams. Only 4 players with 10+ years in the NFL sounds better than only 9 players over 30.
  15. Where does that article say the Bills have one of the youngest rosters overall?
  16. I think Singletary is lacking speed as well..........he had some miscalculations running the ball in preseason that were concerning.........he will need to adjust and learn the situations where he needs to fall forward instead of trying to make a move to get away and ends leaving yardage on the table. I had him as the top RB in the draft but still didn't think he was good value where they picked him in round 3.........it just seemed like a lousy draft class. I am hoping for Bills-career-Travis-Henry like ypa around league average at 4.2 or so. If he does better and holds onto the football I will be pleasantly surprised. He looks solid as a receiver which was also an unknown. But McCoy has just produced a well sub-league-average ypa the past two years............he is like a lot of players that get older........they look good in flashes but can't do it consistently. The excuses about OL play are understandable but I mean a season of 3.2 ypa from a scat back is WOEFUL. We heard the same excuses for about the last 5 years of Thurman Thomas being in Buffalo. He was always just a little nicked up or needed just a little more blocking or more effective downfield passing game to be like his old self.........it sounded good but wasn't true.
  17. With Dawkins, Nsekhe and Ford they have 2 starters and a swing tackle already built right into their top 5 OL players. A more position versatile guy would seem like the better fit but maybe they want to carry 9 OL with all the uncertainty with Mitch Morse and Nsekhe being so long in the tooth.
  18. Yeah Jake Dolegala. Another huge, big armed QB and he looked a lot better than Tyree Jackson in preseason.
  19. I actually think this is why. I've been enjoying all of the posts this preseason about how the Bills roster was so good and that there were just a bunch of players that other teams were going to immediately snap up if they were cut. It's been hilarious. The reality is that everyone has their own version of most of the Bills bubble guys. What's valuable are experienced OL. The word you hear from OL coaches is that most young O lineman are about worthless until year 3. McDermott is in year 3. So even though he doesn't look like one of the Bills best 53 they might think that he should have the trade value of one of their top 45.
  20. I dismiss any notion that the Bills roster turnover is limiting offensively but the most obvious and recent answer is the 2017 Rams. And that team not only turned over most of the OL and receiving corps but also had a new HC installing a new offense and a second year QB who was not coming into year 2 with anywhere near the momentum of a Josh Allen and Todd Gurley was coming off a nightmarish performance the previous year. The Rams basically went from abysmal to great offensively and it happened instantly.......they scored 46 in their opener and averaged 35+ points per game in their first 4 games that season on their way to being the most explosive offense in the NFL. They went from complete trash to a SB favorite over night because of their brand new offense.
  21. They picked him up from the Pats who had drafted him in round 6 and they kept him because they were afraid if they put him on the PS that the Patriots would try to sign him back. But that was 2 years ago and he's looked like a street free agent ever since. Maybe they are still trying to keep him away from New England? ? Definitely perplexing but I do believe that this is just a week 1 thing and that he will be gone pretty soon.
  22. No. I'm sorry but that's simply old time thinking..........in reality it's like pre-free agency thinking even. Change is the order of the day for everyone in the NFL now...........there is as of an much advantage in starting a season with new players and/or a new scheme as there is in starting the year with a team with experience that everyone has tape and tendencies on. The one guy you want to know the offense inside-and-out is the QB..........and Allen seems to be prepared.........the offense might not be great because they lack matchup winners but it shouldn't be because they aren't on the same page yet.
  23. If McCoy were making what Yeldon is making I think he would have been kept instead...........so in that sense I think it WAS a cap issue. It's a sound move saving the money. They still desperately need a WR1 and elite pass rusher going forward and the only eggs in those nests are Bob Foster and Bam Johnson.........so they will likely be needing to buy at least one of those next year if they want one they can count on for a full season. An extra $6.5M is only like 1/3 of a season salary for one of those in FA so it's not going to go far if shopping for elite players at key positions.........but it is a tangible savings to roll forward.
