He was coveted by Beane as a pass-catching receiver who would play a significant role in the offense.

And when he got to Buffalo, the asinine coaches failed to integrate him into the offense and he became a special teams player.

    You do the math, Einstein.

Tua turned out to be a better QB than I predicted years ago.   But given his limitations and the way that Miami’s offense has faltered down the stretch the past 2 season, I think enough of a sample size define his limitations.

I don’t think Mike McDaniel gets enough credit for the job he’s done to build an offense around what Tua does well.  It makes you wonder how much more he do to improve the pieces around the QB.

She is openly admitting she was playing football/practicing drills with Tyreek.

It doesn't surprise me she got hurt.

I myself wouldn't agree to playfully spar with Jon Jones for good reason.

Tyreek is not a good person, I know that. But this woman definitely was a willing participant in contact drills with an NFL player, bad decision.

“She was asking for it,” in other words.

    Gotcha.

I'm still very curious as to what caused the break up between them. Normally people don’t go that long (10 years) as a couple without getting married, or maybe just staying together forever without marrying. Most couples don’t take 10 years to figure out that they're not right for each other.

Two of my closest friends got engaged after being together for 10 years.

I think since they were both previously married and both in their mid-to-late 40s when they began dating, the length of time between first dating and deciding to tie the knot is understandable.

Mods won’t shut it down (duplicate threads about a backup QB are no-no, but this thread is fine somehow) and it’s the top topic on this sub-board, so I’ll play along among some brutally ignorant comments.

Pitbull is not actually a breed of dog, it’s an umbrella term that covers 4-5 different breeds. Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier to name a few.

There are also actually 12 “bully” breeds, dogs bred to do the same type as work often stereotyped for Pitts. In the 70-80s, they became popular for blood sports but historically have been used on farms. They are not aggressive by nature, but they are highly protective animals. They are also highly loving, have been referred to as ‘nanny dogs.’

1 in every 20 dogs in America can classify as a pitbull mix, and it’s the #1 most abused dog in the world. At one shelter, they tested the DNA of their ‘pit bulls’ and found that they actually had less than 50% of the ‘Pitbull’ mix DNA, but they were all still incorrectly labeled as ‘Pitbulls’ (which technically, is always incorrect). Most dogs, I’d wager, are actually muts/mixes.

I get it, the big bad Pitbull leads dog bites (72% of ALL dog attacks are males that are not neutered). When you realize that ‘Pitbull’ is a blanket term that covers 4-5 breeds, of course those numbers are high. These lists don’t compile Sheppard breeds or retrievers, just bull-terrier types.

How about we stop using dogs for security, and get our pets spayed/neutered? You want to cut down on dog bites/attacks, that’s how you do it.

This thread struck a nerve with me, congrats. I think I’ll go wrestle my family ‘pitbulls’ this weekend.

    You mad, bro?

I really don't want to turn this thread political. Expressing an opinion about a popular breed that accounts for 68% of fatalities and severe injuries is more of a public service announcement that has two sides to the story. A group who has experienced great companionship with this breed (such as Teddy, SoTier, etc.) and another group who questions the well documented risk of exposing friends, children and elderly to severe injury or death.

    Regulation does not equal banning.

Breeding them should absolutely be banned.

I wish there was a way to block a thread from our feeds.  This type of conversation in PPP would be status quo. Here it is crusading which is usually frowned upon.

We get it. You think any dog with pittie blood is a potential killer. Noone is going to change your mind. Nature vs nurture. I think it is a combination of both.

noone who is involved in animal rescue or anyone with a sound mind would breed these dogs for sale. The shelters are overrun with too many dogs produced by

irresponsible people who don't spay and neuter their dogs as it is.

Maybe I should look up and post a few links regarding pitties being service dogs or some positive stories.  But Im not going to bother. Total waste of time

You do realize that politics has not come up once in this entire thread, right?

That’s likely because it’s not a discussion about anything political.

    PPP is for Political discussions.

    We are talking about dogs.

There is nothing wrong with this conversation.

The only people getting off topic and angry are the handful who disagree with the OP.

If the topic is not your cup of tea, simply don’t join the conversation.

Do Pitties set up their own fighting rings????

I am not disagreeing with anyone who says that dogs’ behavior is molded by their owners.

I also believe that pit bulls are overbred, which doesn’t help matters any.

Can a pit bull be raised in a loving home by responsible owners and live a complete life with no violent incidents?  YES.

But the statistics overwhelmingly show that many of the attacks on other dogs and people (often their owners/family) are not the fighting dogs or dogs raised in bad environments.

They are the dogs who’ve never bitten anyone before.

They have triggers. It’s not their fault and it’s not their owners’ fault when they suddenly snap.

    It’s unpredictable and unavoidable.

    It’s really no one’s fault.

My point is this: why do we continue to breed these dangerous animals, knowing there is no controlling them?

    It makes no sense.

    SHUT.

    THIS.

    *****.

    DOWN.

The notion that certain breeds of dogs are ‘more dangerous’ than others is absurd and ignorant.

Most ‘bad’ dogs are the direct products of far worse owners.

Most ‘dog people’ barely give a true thought to the psychological changes a dog can go through due to suffering and take any steps or given any real thought into what environmental triggers might be in the new surroundings.

Some dogs/animals can be born with screws loose (just like people), but the arrogance, incompetence, and ignorance of people handling them create so much of these tragedies and often the people are never held accountable.

Sometimes ***** just happens. I have 2 direct family members who have been seriously injured from unprovoked attacks from golden retrievers.

This thread is pathetic, and I find it absolutely DISGUSTING that the openly discussed euthanasia of an entire breed of dog has been on this MB for over 24 hours. I am legitimately disappointed in Two Bills Drive.

If I sound pissed off by the topic of killing off Pitty breeds, it’s because my family has two of them. Great dogs from a great home. Maybe I’m onto something?

So yea, screw this thread, @SDS @Hapless Bills Fan @Simon and friends please shut this down.

Dogs, no matter the breed, are direct descendants from their owners temperament.

    Bad owner = bad dog

    Good owner = good dog

    Real statistics say otherwise.

And there’s nothing off color or over the line in this thread.

It’s simply a topic for discussion, which is kind of what we do here.

It’s fine to disagree, but I don’t see the point in running to mommy and daddy about it.

It’s easy to refrain from clicking the link and moving onto another thread about the Chiefs.

Dogs, like people, are individuals with different temperaments and personalities.  Some are stubborn, some are very smart, some are possessive, etc.  Most dogs in the US are the descendants of dogs purposely bred to do certain jobs, and that human intervention in their ancestry often shapes their behaviors.   Some of the traits that are useful for a breed's original purpose can make a dog a difficult pet when they no longer have real jobs.  Working dogs like border collies and aussie shepherds, etc are notorious for getting into trouble because of their high energy.   Small terriers can sometimes be aggressive because they were originally used to hunt rats and mice around homes and farm buildings.

More importantly, when some breeds become popular, puppy mills and backyard breeders get into the mix and frequently fail to breed for good temperaments.  If the dog is the right "look" or size or color, they breed that dog to make money.   People tolerate small dogs like dachshunds and chihauhuas that have bad temperaments.  They don't tolerate bad temperaments in large dogs, however,  Great Danes, Newfies, and Leonbergers are among the gentlest of dogs.  Unfortunately for pit bulls (officially American Staffordshire Terriers), their strength, tenacity, and loyalty attracted criminal elements involved in dog fighting and drug trafficking back in the 1980s, and the breed became synonymous with viciousness.

It's important to keep in mind, however, these facts:

    • All dogs have a prey drive, some significantly stronger than others.  Even golden doodles can chase and attack what they perceive as prey, especially small furry things like cats and smaller dogs but sometimes small running children.
    • All dogs are territorial, again some individuals more than others.   They also express their territoriality in different ways, most notably by barking at intruders to their space, but jumping at windows and fences are common, too.
    • Dogs are pack animals.   They need a "family".  Most dogs, especially in one dog households, bond to their humans.  In multi-dog households, the dogs bond to each other as well as to their humans.  Dogs that regularly go to dog parks or are walked often with the same group of dogs may form packs with their besties.   Like teenagers, alone each is good but two or three or four together can breed real trouble.  The same with dogs in a pack.
    • Any dog that's mistreated or frightened or "mistrained" can bite or maul a person.   All breeds have a range of temperaments, too.   How a dog is raised and treated has much more to do with its behavior than its breed.

It's the responsibility of owners to train and socialize their dogs to make them good citizens.   Dogs need to respond to basic commands.  They need to come when called, walk on a leash, not jump up on visitors etc.   Socializing dogs gets them used to dealing with other people, other dogs, new situations, etc so that they behave in situations outside their homes or yards.   Not all dogs have temperaments or personalities that enable them to go to dog parks or doggie day care, but they still need to have some  new experiences.   Keeping dogs locked in a yard or tied on a leash, and only taking them to the vet maybe once a year can reinforce territoriality, pack mentality and fear aggression.

There is no training or socializing that will prevent a pit bill from being triggered to kill.

It is in their DNA. They can’t stop it and neither can the best dog owner.

Top one/third? Sure. Maybe. I’d say he’s probably about 10. But then add in RTs and he’s another 10-15 down the list.

I’ve said my piece about him on and on over the years. I think he’s a fat tub of goo. If he held his block even a little longer we might have been in the SB. There’s plenty of times I can point out about him being terrible. Like the multiple times he’s been blown up on QB sneaks where Josh was taken down for a loss. Like against the Titans and then the Vikings. We lost both those games.

I never said he was bottom feeding. I said he’s average, to kind of good at best. Doesn’t matter, I hate him. I hate his fat tubby body, his stupid mouth that he constantly runs. His stupid Schnowman Shtick. As far as I’m concerned he can go and hope he does. Unfortunately I feel they will re-negotiate and extend him this offseason to keep him here for likely the rest of his career.

The schnowman shtick gets on my nerves, too.

I would find it refreshing if he would come out and say, “I effed up.”

His lack of accountability is bothersome to me.
