…and I don’t mean the eyeglasses.  I know he has always talked about the Bills being a “tough” football team, but he has really ramped up the toughness aspect in nearly every locker room speech or interview I’ve seen.  It’s almost as if he has single-handedly willed this team to be mentally and physically tough.  He knows he already had that guy in 17, but the entire team has now taken on the mentality of overcoming adversity through toughness.  I view it as yet another progression in Sean’s growth as a leader and head coach.

He's really got them “on the same page to orchestrate attacks to perfection.”

I knew something was up when I started getting a ton of text messages this morning. I'm also very disappointed to see him go both from a baseball standpoint (he and Williams could've been lockdown) and also it's the end of an era. I'm going to miss the trumpets and I'm gonna ralph if I hear them in LA.

I wonder if Stearns knew the writing was on the wall and that's why he got Williams signed so quickly.

I feel like this is one of two things:

    1. Diaz was willing to take less money for his best shot at a ring.

    2. Stearns knows something about Diaz (health/longevity related) that made it easier for him to not overpay.

I will say that I trust Stearns and we all know Cohen has no problem opening the checkbook.

Either way … we need a closer.

Welp, that dream is officially over...Diaz to the f'ing Dodgers for only $69M over 3 years. I don't know how the Mets couldn't or wouldn't beat that unless Diaz feels he's got a better shot at a World Series ring with LA. This is one case where I can't wish him the best (unlike Nimmo). I hope he implodes and completely sh!ts the bed with them.

Also, Schwarber back to the Phillthies on a 5-year, $150M deal. That's an overpay for a 35 year old DH only player but I get why they did it.

First … f*ck Schwarber and f*ck the Phillies. Between him and Harper, they’re getting what they deserve.

I’m going to reserve judgment re: Diaz until we (hopefully) hear all sides.

But that news SERIOUSLY pissed me off. I just don’t know who to be pissed at yet.

But I am not a happy camper.

They plagued us for years. They are the single biggest reason the Bills and our first-ballot HOF QB don't have at least one Super Bowl ring by now, if not multiple.

I hoped for this last season, but you never know. But now we see it. Kelce, once an unstoppable force and a first-down machine, is now 36, a role player, and very stoppable.

Chris Jones, still makes plays, but is no longer an unblockable terror up the middle. He's good but no longer consistently great.

I'm not saying the Chiefs can't be good or make the playoffs in the next year or two. But the dynasty is over. They are no longer favorites to win it all every year. They will battle for the playoffs now. The 90s Bills are happy (that record run of four-straight SB appearances record should stay intact), the current Bills are happy, and we should be too.

This reminds me of the 10 or so consecutive years when people kept saying the Patriots/Brady were done.

They weren’t even close to being done.

    Neither are the Chiefs.

Mets get their first free agent in the fold...RP Devin Williams. 3 years, $45 million (over $50 million with deferred incentives). I guess this means Diaz is on his way out? Would've loved a Williams & Diaz combo for the late inning high leverage situations.

    This is a good signing.

I still think (and hope) Díaz is going to be a Met in 2026.

Actually this is a really good question imo. My answer however is not listed. I want the Bills to make the playoffs AND I want McDermott fired. If Beane has to go as well so be it. And I do get it....if they make the playuoffs and win the Super Bowl, why SHOULD they be fired?

I am an Alabama Crimson Tide Fan. If they win on Saturday, they will be in the playoffs. Do I think that they are the best team in the NCAA? Not at all. Not this year. That said, they are good. Their defense is looking MUCH better than early in the season. If they get in the playoffs, things can happen on their team and their opponents teams to make winning at least a bit plausible.

It's the same in some ways with the Bills. We have Josh Allen. He is great and can make things happen. If the OL plays up to their potential he will throw TD passes and Cook will also kick ass. If we get a few breaks, who knows? Coming into the season I thought that the Eagles and Lions were great. Now, they only look good. Things change.

Anyway once again, good post. The above tedius post is jmo.

You make a great point, Bill.

Another early playoff (before the AFCCG) exit - to me - is still grounds for dismissal.

If this pathetic roster gets to the AFCCG, then I would have no choice but to give McDermott some credit.

To that point, I think Beane is an utter failure and if I was presented with a “one goes/one stays” option, I’d choose Beane to go without blinking an eye.

Brandin f*cking Cooks?   Are you f*cking kidding me?

    Beane sucks.

Always liked Nimmo.  Sad to see him go.

Unless this trade was done to save money for re-signing big Pete or something else up their sleeve I'll be disappointed.

The only thing that makes me nervous is Semiens’ age.

What I love is that he’s a recent Gold Glove at 2B.

The money is just about a wash.  His contract is shorter than Nimmo’s.

I think Nimmo’s 2025 season (at the plate) was a fluke. He was great. I just don’t see him doing it again.

I will miss him.  He loves the game. He loved being a Met. He was durable.

I think this is a good sign for Alonso to stay.

With Alonso, Lindor and Soto - I like the focus on defense. We’re gonna score runs.

Should be a very interesting off-season.

Looking forward pitchers and catchers reporting in 5 months.
